In Netflix’s Bridgerton continuity, Lord Archibald and Lady Portia Featherington are the parents of three daughters: Prudence, Philippa and Penelope. Penelope later marries Colin Bridgerton, while the Featherington title passes first to their cousin Jack and ultimately to Penelope and Colin’s son.
The immediate Featherington family
The household at the center of the family tree is formed by Lord Archibald Featherington, Lady Portia Featherington and their three named daughters.
| Person | Connection | What happens in the Netflix series |
|---|---|---|
| Lord Archibald Featherington | Father of Prudence, Philippa and Penelope | He is the original male head of the Featherington household. |
| Lady Portia Featherington | Mother of Prudence, Philippa and Penelope | She manages the household and her daughters’ prospects. |
| Prudence Featherington | Penelope’s older sister | She marries Harry Dankworth by the beginning of Season 3. |
| Philippa Featherington | Penelope’s other older sister | She marries Albion Finch by the beginning of Season 3. |
| Penelope Featherington | Youngest named daughter | She marries Colin Bridgerton and becomes the link between the Featherington and Bridgerton families. |
Who are the Featherington sisters?
Prudence Featherington
Prudence is the eldest of the three Featherington daughters identified in the Netflix family tree. Her marriage to Harry Dankworth makes him part of the family by marriage.
Philippa Featherington
Philippa is the middle daughter. She marries Albion Finch, another marriage that expands the family’s connections beyond the Featherington household.
#1 Best Overall
Penelope Featherington
Penelope is the youngest named daughter and the central figure in the family’s later succession story. Her marriage to Colin Bridgerton gives the Featherington title a direct connection to the Bridgertons through their child.
Is Penelope related to Portia and Archibald?
Yes. Portia and Archibald are Penelope’s parents, not distant relations. Prudence and Philippa are her older sisters. The three sisters belong to the same immediate Featherington household before Penelope’s marriage changes the family’s future connections.

Who is Cousin Jack?
Jack Featherington is a cousin who arrives after Archibald’s death. He is not one of Portia and Archibald’s daughters’ siblings; he belongs to the extended Featherington family. His importance comes from succession: he comes to London to assume the title of Lord Featherington.
Why does Jack become Lord Featherington?
Jack becomes Lord Featherington because Archibald dies and the title passes to the cousin identified as the next male successor in the Netflix storyline. His arrival temporarily places Jack at the head of the Featherington family, while Portia and her daughters remain the household most closely associated with the estate and title.

Who does Penelope marry?
Penelope marries Colin Bridgerton. The marriage joins the Featherington and Bridgerton houses by marriage, but it does not itself make Colin the next Lord Featherington. The later titleholder is their son.
Who is the next Lord Featherington?
Penelope and Colin’s son is the newest Lord Featherington named in Netflix’s official family-tree material. Netflix describes him as “both a Bridgerton and the newest Lord Featherington,” making him the child who carries the Featherington title into the next generation.
The succession in order
- Archibald Featherington: He is the initial head of the family shown in the Netflix guide.
- Jack Featherington: After Archibald’s death, Jack arrives as the cousin who assumes the title of Lord Featherington.
- Penelope and Colin’s son: The child later becomes the newest Lord Featherington and connects the title to the Bridgerton family.
How to read the family tree
The tree combines three kinds of connection:
- Blood relationship: Archibald and Portia’s parent-child relationship with Prudence, Philippa and Penelope, plus Jack’s extended-family connection.
- Marriage relationship: Prudence and Harry Dankworth, Philippa and Albion Finch, and Penelope and Colin Bridgerton.
- Title succession: the movement of the Lord Featherington title from Archibald to Jack and later to Penelope and Colin’s son.
Netflix continuity versus the novels
This explanation follows the Netflix series continuity and its official family-tree descriptions. Julia Quinn’s novels are a separate continuity; details that are specific to the books should not be treated as additions to this on-screen tree unless they are identified as book canon.
