Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s family dog, Lua—also called Lulu—died in December 2023. The pit-bull mix was mourned publicly by both former spouses. Brady later said that his dog Junie was cloned from Lua using a blood sample collected before Lua’s death.
Who was Lua, the Brady-Bündchen family dog?
Lua, also known as Lulu, was a pit-bull mix who belonged to Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s family. She was part of the household shared by the former couple and their children, Benjamin and Vivian.
When did Lua die?
Contemporaneous reports placed Lua’s death in December 2023, after Brady and Bündchen had separated and divorced. Neither public tribute identified a cause of death, and no reliable report establishes whether illness, an accident, age, or euthanasia was involved.

What happened with Junie, the dog later linked to Lua?
In November 2025, Brady disclosed that his dog Junie was a clone of Lua. He said he worked with Colossal Biosciences and that a non-invasive blood draw had been taken from Lua before she died. Reports by The Washington Post and The Guardian likewise described the sample as having been collected while Lua was still alive.
