Those details are contemporaneous news accounts, not a first-person confirmation from either Walker or Pilchard-Gosnell. The same 2013 reporting described her as a college student in Santa Barbara, California. That was a description of her circumstances at the time and should not be treated as evidence of her current education, employment or residence.

The December 4 report attributed an account to Jim Torp, who said Pilchard-Gosnell collapsed after learning the news. That is an observer’s account reported by a news outlet, not Pilchard-Gosnell’s own description of what she felt or did.

In the December 9 article, her uncle Barton Bruner was quoted saying, “Paul was a really good guy and Jasmine is broken up by this.” The quotation describes what a relative told the newspaper; it is not an interview statement from Pilchard-Gosnell.
Withdrawal from public attention
Reports in December 2013 said Pilchard-Gosnell had not spoken publicly about Walker’s death and was staying out of public view.
