Manga Rock is discontinued, not experiencing an ordinary outage. The original service shut down through a transition that began in late 2019 and continued into 2020. Its successor, INKR Comics, is a separate licensed platform—not a restored version of Manga Rock—and it cannot import the old reading history or Favorites.
If the old app still opens, that does not mean its catalog or account servers are working. Avoid sites or downloads using the Manga Rock name unless you can verify they are connected to the original operator.
Is Manga Rock down right now?
The original Manga Rock service should be treated as discontinued rather than temporarily down. An uptime checker reporting that a similarly named domain responds only shows that the domain answered a request; it does not establish that Manga Rock’s original catalog, login system, or reading servers are operating.

Likewise, a current site bearing the Manga Rock name may be unrelated, parked, or otherwise unaffiliated. For example, OutageDown’s page for manga-rock.cyou describes that domain as for sale: OutageDown’s domain listing.

What happened to Manga Rock?
Manga Rock’s shutdown was a staged transition that began in late 2019 and continued through 2020, rather than a recent outage. Archived community posts from the period describe the team closing Manga Rock and moving toward INKR, followed by the removal of scanlation-reading functions. Those posts provide historical context, but they are community records rather than current support documentation: 2019 discussion of what came next and January 2020 discussion of scanlation removal.
Is INKR Comics the replacement for Manga Rock?
INKR is the successor platform associated with the former Manga Rock team, but it is not a restoration of Manga Rock’s old library. It is a separate licensed comics service with manga, manhua, webtoons, and other comics. INKR says that many titles once found on Manga Rock were unofficial scanlations and could not be carried into its legitimate catalog; availability of any particular title can vary.

INKR’s access model also differs by title: reading may involve free chapters, ads, Ink, coins, or a subscription. Check the service’s current content-pricing guide and the title’s own terms rather than assuming one price or access method applies across the catalog. INKR explains that pricing can depend on the rights holder in its content pricing help article.
INKR has a current web platform and an Android app listing. Its downloads are not necessarily permanent files: INKR says downloaded chapters can expire after 30 days because of copyright restrictions (download-expiration guidance).

Can you recover your Manga Rock account, Favorites, or reading history?
Do not expect an automatic library migration. INKR allows former Manga Rock users to sign in with their old account credentials, but signing in is not the same as restoring the old library. INKR’s FAQ says Manga Rock reading history and Favorites cannot be transferred: INKR’s FAQ. Its sign-in instructions are here: sign in to INKR Comics.
If you want to rebuild your list, search for each series on a currently supported legal service. If you paid for a legacy subscription or purchase, check the relevant Apple or Google purchase history for the transaction; that record does not guarantee the old content can be restored. Never enter an old password on an unknown Manga Rock-branded recovery page.

Why does the old app open but not work?
- The app opens, but chapters do not load: The interface may remain installed even though its catalog or image servers are no longer maintained.
- Login fails or looks successful but the library is empty: A login screen can still render even when the old account backend is unsupported. A former account login on INKR does not restore Manga Rock reading history or Favorites.
- The app crashes or behaves strangely: A legacy app may rely on outdated operating-system behavior, certificates, APIs, or server endpoints.
- Old downloads are missing: Some downloaded content may have depended on the app’s cache or service rather than being saved as ordinary, permanent files.
- A new site or APK claims to be official: It may be unaffiliated, modified, or repackaged. The name alone does not verify its publisher.
What troubleshooting is worth trying?
These checks can rule out a local connection problem, but they will not restore a discontinued service. Stop if the app or site is clearly a clone or asks you to install an unverified download.

- Check the official app-store listing. If the old app is no longer listed or has no verifiable legitimate updates, do not treat its failure as a temporary outage.
- Rule out a local connection issue. Restart the device and try another network once. If the service still cannot load, repeated cache-clearing or network changes are unlikely to help.
- Preserve what remains accessible. If the old app still displays personal notes or screenshots you created, save them. Do not assume its offline cache can be recovered.
- Move to a supported service. Search for the specific titles you want on licensed platforms and check availability in your country.
How to avoid Manga Rock clones and unsafe downloads
There is no reliable basis for treating every surviving Manga Rock-branded site as malicious, but similarly named domains can be unaffiliated or parked. Verify a service through the original operator’s channels before signing in or downloading anything. Do not:

- Reuse your old Manga Rock password on an unknown site.
- Install an APK from a forum, file host, or page claiming to offer a “new official” app.
- Pay a third party for “activation,” “premium recovery,” or access to an archived server.
- Use a supposed mirror or DNS workaround as a way to restore the discontinued service.
Which legal Manga Rock alternative should you choose?
No licensed service is a like-for-like replacement for Manga Rock’s former broad catalog, which included unofficial translations. Availability depends on the rights holder and your region; access can be free, ad-supported, subscription-based, or paid by chapter or title. Choose based on the series you want, not on the assumption that one app will contain everything.
