Spotify Blend combines your listening tastes with those of friends in a shared playlist that Spotify says refreshes daily. Create one from Spotify’s Blend control, send an invitation link, and find the finished playlist in Made for You.
What is Spotify Blend?
Blend is a shared, personalized playlist built from participants’ listening activity and Spotify’s recommendations. It is designed for discovering songs friends enjoy, comparing musical tastes, and creating a low-effort soundtrack for a trip, group, relationship, club, or event.
Spotify says a Blend updates daily. Participants may see the usernames and profile pictures associated with people in the playlist, so joining is not completely anonymous. Spotify has also described Blend playlists as showing which songs were added for each friend, although the exact presentation can change.
Blend is not the same as a normal collaborative playlist. Spotify chooses and refreshes Blend’s recommendations; a collaborative playlist is a manually assembled list in which invited people add songs or podcast episodes themselves.

How to make a Spotify Blend on mobile
- Open Spotify and tap Your Library.
- Tap the plus (+) button.
- Choose Blend.
- Tap Invite.
- Send the invitation link to your friends through your preferred messaging app.
- After people accept, open Made for You to find the Blend.
Spotify can change labels or placement between app builds, devices, accounts, and rollouts. If you do not see the controls above, use the troubleshooting steps below.
How to make a Spotify Blend on desktop
- Open Spotify.
- Select Search.
- Under Browse all, choose Made for You.
- Select Create Blend.
- Click Invite and send the link.
- Once friends join, return to Made for You to open the playlist.
Spotify previously directed users to search for “Blend” in the Search tab. That remains a useful fallback when the current desktop or mobile shelf is difficult to locate.

How many friends can join?
Spotify currently says you can invite up to 10 friends to one Blend. This wording counts invited friends; do not assume it means exactly 10 total accounts in every version of the app. Spotify’s current limit is documented at Spotify Support.
How to add friends after creating a Blend
- Open the Blend from your playlists or Made for You.
- Tap the control Spotify’s current instructions identify as Follow.
- Select Invite more.
- Send the new invitation link.
Older guides may show an “Add Collaborators” icon. Treat those screenshots as historical references rather than the definitive current label.
How to share a Blend story
- Open the Blend’s three-dot menu.
- Choose View Blend story.
- Tap Share this story.
Spotify has used share cards containing taste comparisons and song information, but the card design and details can change. Do not rely on a particular score, percentage, song count, or social-media layout.

Choose a regular collaborative playlist for a wedding, party, workout, or road trip when the group must decide exactly what stays, what goes, and what plays next. Spotify describes that separate workflow at Spotify Newsroom.

Is Spotify Blend free?
Spotify’s March 2022 announcement described Blend as available to both Free and Premium members, and Premium is not listed as a prerequisite in the current Blend instructions. Playback behavior and other restrictions can still differ by plan and market, so Free and Premium users should not assume identical controls.
Why can’t I find Blend?
- Confirm that Spotify is signed in to the account you intend to use.
- Try the current mobile path and the desktop path; one may expose the feature while the other does not.
- Search Spotify for Blend as an alternate route.
- Update the Spotify app if its menus look substantially different from the current instructions.
- Open the invitation link in the Spotify app, with the recipient signed in, rather than relying only on a mobile browser.
- Ask the recipient to accept while logged in to the correct Spotify account.
- After acceptance, check Made for You instead of expecting the Blend to appear immediately in the ordinary playlist list.
These steps address common interface and link problems; Spotify does not guarantee that every account, country, device, or app build presents identical controls.

The invitation opens in a browser
Install and open Spotify, sign in, then try the link again. If it still fails, have the inviter copy the invitation again or resend it through a different messaging app.
The playlist looks unchanged
Blend is based on listening activity and Spotify says it updates daily. A newly joined listener should not expect an instant, dramatic change or a visibly labeled contribution from every participant.

The wrong person joined
Invitation links can be forwarded, so send them privately and verify recipients before posting publicly. Spotify’s current public instructions do not document a complete creator-controlled removal process for one participant. Leaving and creating a new, clearly labeled Blend is a practical workaround, not a documented administrator feature.

How to leave a Blend
- Open the Blend.
- Open the three-dot menu (its appearance varies between Android and iPhone).
- Select Leave Blend.
Leaving removes you from that Blend. Spotify’s instructions do not say that leaving deletes the playlist for everyone else.
One similarly named feature to avoid confusing with Blend
Mixed Playlists is a separate Spotify feature that creates transitions between songs and is listed by Spotify Support as a Premium feature. It does not combine friends’ listening tastes. Details are in Spotify Support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose every song in a Blend?
No. Blend’s defining function is Spotify’s automated personalization from participants’ listening activity. Use a regular collaborative playlist when everyone needs direct control over individual tracks.
Can other people see my entire Spotify listening history?
Spotify’s Blend guidance supports visibility of participants’ usernames and profile pictures, not unrestricted access to a person’s complete listening history.
Does Spotify specify how many Blends one account can create or whether a creator can remove one participant?
Spotify’s current public Blend instructions do not specify either point. They document inviting friends, adding more through Invite more, and leaving a Blend.
