Use AI music to create a short instrumental cue, then shape it into separate intro and outro edits in an audio editor. Ask for a clear opening hit, a compact motif and an ending that resolves cleanly; generate several candidates, choose one that leaves room for speech, and check its level and rights before publishing. The tools below can generate or edit music, but their listed features do not establish a dedicated podcast intro or outro mode, so check each vendor’s site for prompt controls, export details and current terms.
What Podcast Intros And Outros Need From Music
A podcast cue has a narrow job: establish the show’s mood quickly, then get out of the way. An intro needs a recognizable start and a clean handoff to speech. An outro needs a deliberate finish that does not sound abruptly cut off. For both, keep the musical idea simple enough to recognize at low volume and leave space for a host voice or spoken call to action.
For a first draft, aim for a brief cue rather than a full song. That duration is an editing target, not a stated limit or preset in the tools below. Make the intro and outro from the same musical idea so the show sounds consistent, then use a different edit or ending for each.
Choose A Tool That Fits The Cue
These options have listed music-generation or editing features that can support making a podcast cue. None is documented here as having a podcast-specific intro or outro workflow. Check the vendor’s site for whether it supports the musical style, prompt details and file format you need.

Build The Intro And Outro In A Repeatable Workflow
- Write the cue brief. Note the show’s subject, the feeling you want listeners to associate with it, and where speech begins or ends. Pick a small set of musical descriptors, such as instrumental, restrained, warm, tense or bright, only if those words fit the show. Avoid asking for a famous artist’s sound or a recognizable theme.
- Prompt for a short instrumental identity. Describe the role of the music rather than asking for a complete song. For example: “Instrumental podcast intro cue, understated and curious, soft pulsing rhythm, a memorable three-note motif, brief opening accent, no vocals, leave space for a host voice, end with a clean musical resolve.” This is a prompt example, not a promise that a tool will follow every instruction or produce a particular duration.
- Generate candidates and listen for edit points. Compare the opening, motif and ending. Keep a version whose musical idea is easy to identify and whose middle can sit under narration without competing. If the output is too busy, revise the prompt with fewer instruments or a simpler rhythm; the exact prompt controls available vary by tool.
- Make an intro edit. Place the strongest opening at the start, trim any unwanted lead-in, and end the cue where the spoken introduction can take over naturally. If the generation has a usable musical phrase but a weak ending, use an editing or section-replacement feature only where the selected tool lists it; otherwise shape the cut in your audio editor.
- Make an outro edit from the same musical idea. Reuse the motif or a related passage, then choose an ending that gives the host room to finish the final sentence. Do not assume the generated track contains a purpose-built outro; listen for a natural cadence and edit around it.
- Check the voice handoff. Play each cue with representative speech. Lower or shorten the music where it masks consonants, and make sure the transition does not clip the first or last spoken word. The right balance depends on the recording and playback setup, so judge it on headphones and a phone speaker.
- Export and keep the source organized. Save the final intro and outro separately, and retain the original generation and any stems you use. Export options vary: for example, Soundverse lists WAV mixes and stem exports, while Suno lists stem export but excludes it from the Free Plan. Check the vendor’s site for the current available formats and your plan’s limits.
- Document the version and terms. Record which tool and plan produced the selected cue, when it was generated, and any edits made. Before using it in a public or monetized podcast, check the applicable license and platform terms for the intended use. A feature listing alone does not establish that a particular generation is cleared for your distribution.
Prompt Examples To Adapt
Documentary Or Interview Show
“Short instrumental podcast intro, thoughtful documentary mood, restrained low pulse and sparse piano motif, gradual lift, no vocals, clear space for narration, decisive but gentle ending.” If piano or a particular mood is not available as a prompt control, treat these as descriptive words and check the tool’s site for supported options.
Investigative Or Suspenseful Show
“Instrumental podcast cue, restrained investigative tension, steady understated pulse, sparse texture, no jump-scare hit, no vocals, leave room for spoken narration, end with a resolved short phrase.” Listen for whether the result feels appropriate to the subject; a prompt cannot guarantee a specific arrangement.

Before publishing, check the selected platform’s current terms for the plan used, the intended podcast distribution and any commercial use. The listed tool details do not establish a universal license for podcast use. If the cue includes a voice, recognizable performance, cover, sample or reference recording, use only material you have permission to use and check the platform’s terms for that material and output.
