YouTube Vanced 16.14.38 is an obsolete, unsupported build, and there is no current official download source for it. The Vanced project ended in March 2022, removed its official download sources and shut down the Vanced Manager backend. Archived files may still circulate, but their presence does not establish that they are authentic, unmodified, safe or compatible with YouTube today. We do not recommend downloading an unverified copy.
What was YouTube Vanced 16.14.38?
YouTube Vanced was an unofficial modified Android client for YouTube. Depending on the release, it offered features such as ad blocking, background playback, picture-in-picture and interface customization. Later builds added integrations including SponsorBlock and dislike-count functionality; those later features should not automatically be attributed to version 16.14.38.
Version numbers matter: 16.14.38 was not Vanced’s final documented release. The project later published version 17.03.38. That does not make either build supported today. The Vanced team announced its discontinuation in March 2022 and subsequently said its official download sources and Manager backend had been removed (Vanced announcements).

No maintained, official download path is available. Some websites continue to offer files under the Vanced name, but an archived copy or a page labeled “official” is not proof of project ownership or file integrity. The original team warned that third parties were repackaging Vanced, combining packages, adding features such as downloaders and potentially introducing malware.

Vanced’s team said it discontinued the project for legal reasons. Independent reporting at the time described legal pressure from Google. The public record supports that broad account, but it does not establish that every old copy is malicious or that installing one automatically gets a user’s Google account banned.
Why “APK” may not mean one installable file
An APK is an Android application package. A split-APK distribution, often delivered as an APKS bundle, contains a base package plus device-specific components such as architecture, language or screen-density files. Vanced historically distributed YouTube builds as split packages rather than necessarily as one conventional standalone APK.

The historical installation workflow used Vanced Manager, and non-root installations commonly used the companion Vanced MicroG package to support Google account sign-in. Those components are not a reason to trust a present-day mirror: the official Manager infrastructure is gone, and a MicroG package from an unrelated site is not automatically trustworthy. Do not enter Google credentials into an unidentified companion app.
A single file advertised as “one-click Vanced APK” may be a third-party repack. The format alone does not prove that a file is fake, but neither APK nor APKS tells you whether it is authentic. The project also said Vanced did not include a video downloader; a downloader bundled into a purported Vanced build is a warning that it has been modified.

Risks of installing an old copy
- Tampering and repackaging: An unofficial file may add tracking, advertising, unwanted permissions or malicious code. Ad blocking is a feature, not an integrity check.
- Credential exposure: Signing in through an untrusted app or companion package can put account credentials or session data at risk.
- No security maintenance: A discontinued app does not receive project fixes, and its installer or companion components may also be out of date.
- Breakage: YouTube can change authentication, playback, APIs and server-side interface behavior independently of the old client. Installing successfully does not guarantee login, playback, comments, recommendations, casting or ad blocking.
- Device security warnings: Google Play Protect checks apps from outside Google Play and may warn about, disable or remove apps it considers harmful. A warning is not laboratory proof that every copy of Vanced is malicious, but it is a reason to stop and investigate—not to turn protection off. See Google’s Play Protect guidance.
The old build may install on some older Android devices, but there is no reliable promise it will work in 2026. Historical Vanced support material documented failures tied to YouTube changes and problems involving features such as casting. A file that worked in 2021 or 2022 may no longer behave as expected.
If you already downloaded or installed it
- Do not install it if you have only downloaded the file. Delete it if you cannot verify its origin and integrity through a trustworthy project source.
- If the source is unknown, uninstall Vanced and its companion package. Restore the official YouTube app from Google Play if you want to use YouTube on the device.
- Run Play Protect and review the permissions of recently installed apps. Cancel any installation that asks for unrelated access such as Accessibility, device administration, SMS or contacts.
- If you entered Google credentials into a suspicious package, change your password, review Google Account security activity and revoke unfamiliar sessions.
- Keep Android security protections enabled. “Install unknown apps” access is granted to a particular installer app, such as a browser or file manager; do not grant it broadly or disable Play Protect to force an unverified mod to install.
Safer alternatives

ReVanced is a separate project, not an official Vanced update. Its announcements describe a patching approach intended to keep pace with app changes and record fixes for playback problems (ReVanced announcements). Like any unofficial project, it is not Google-supported; rely on its own published sources and guidance rather than lookalike download sites.

Common claims to treat cautiously
- “Latest Vanced 2026” or “Vanced Premium”: The original project ended in 2022. A new date or label does not show that the project has resumed.
- “It has no ads, so it is safe”: Ad blocking says nothing about whether a package was modified or what data it collects.
- “This is the official single APK”: The historical distribution used split packages, and a third-party repack cannot establish official status merely by using the Vanced name.
- “Disable Play Protect to continue”: Do not bypass a security warning to install an unverified discontinued app.
- “Vanced downloads videos”: The project said it did not include a downloader. Added downloading functionality may indicate a third-party modification.
