No—Pikashow is not a streaming app you should treat as safe or trustworthy. Avoid installing it. It is commonly distributed through unofficial APK downloads, where the file’s source and integrity can be difficult to verify. Court records also associate the service with unauthorized streaming and describe instructions to disable device security before downloading. That does not prove every Pikashow APK contains malware, but there is not enough reliable evidence to recommend any build as safe.
What is Pikashow?
Pikashow is marketed as a free app for watching films, television and sports, including content associated with paid streaming services. A Delhi High Court record described its offering as access to content linked to services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, ALTBalaji, Voot, Sony TV, Star Sports and Zee TV without the usual subscription payment. That is not evidence that Pikashow is an officially licensed replacement for those services. The court record and case materials describe allegations and measures concerning unauthorized streaming.
Pikashow is not listed as a normal, verified Google Play app in the sources reviewed. Users therefore commonly encounter it through APK files from websites or other third-party channels. Not being in Google Play does not, by itself, prove an app is malicious; it does mean a user must place more trust in the download site, the particular file, its signing and its update process.
Why the safety risk is real—but not a proven malware verdict
“Pikashow APK” can mean different versions from different sources. A file may be modified, repackaged, outdated or bundled with unrelated software. A scan of one APK cannot establish that another copy—or a future update—is safe. Nor does an app’s successful installation, popularity or lack of an immediate warning authenticate its source.

There is not enough reliable, build-specific evidence here to say that every Pikashow APK is a virus. There is also no trustworthy basis to certify the app as safe. The practical risk is that users are asked to install software from uncertain sources without dependable independent assurance about its integrity, privacy or maintenance.
Google identifies internet sideloading as a significant route for harmful apps and fraud involving sensitive permissions. Its harmful-app categories include spyware, phishing, trojans, hostile downloaders and billing fraud. Watch for suspicious permissions and download traps
Do not assume Pikashow requests any particular permission without checking the exact build. But for a video-streaming app, requests for SMS, Accessibility, notification access, contacts, call logs, precise location, microphone, camera, device-administrator control or permission to install other apps deserve serious scrutiny. A request to disable Play Protect or another device security feature is a major warning sign. The Delhi High Court record specifically discussed instructions associated with Pikashow to disable device security before downloading.

APK search results can also lead to fake download buttons, redirect chains, browser-notification prompts, fake player updates, surveys requesting personal information, or APKs bundled with other apps. Do not enter your Google, email, banking, social-media or streaming passwords on a download page or into an unverified app.
Privacy is hard to assess
There is no independently verified, standardized privacy disclosure for Pikashow in the sources reviewed. That leaves users unable to confidently assess what information the app collects, which third parties may receive identifiers, how long data is retained, or how credentials and device information are protected. That uncertainty is a reason for caution; it is not proof that the app steals data.
What Play Protect can—and cannot—tell you
Google Play Protect checks apps, including apps installed from outside Google Play. It may warn about, block, disable or remove an app it identifies as harmful. Google’s protection documentation explains these safeguards.

A warning should not be bypassed just because a download page calls Pikashow safe or says the app is popular. A clean scan is useful, but it only means the particular app or behavior was not identified as harmful at that time. It does not certify the developer, prove good privacy practices, authenticate every mirror, establish that content is licensed or guarantee future updates are safe.

What the court record means for legality
In India, Delhi High Court proceedings concerning Star India and Pikashow dealt with allegations of copyrighted material being streamed without authorization. The record describes domain-related suspension or blocking measures and the app’s advertised access to subscription services’ content. These are significant indications about the service’s distribution; they do not establish that every person who has ever watched a stream faces the same legal outcome.
India’s anti-piracy framework includes restrictions on unauthorized recording and transmission of films. Government material published in March 2026 describes penalties that can include at least three months’ imprisonment and a ₹3 lakh fine, with higher penalties in specified circumstances. Those provisions concern relevant statutory violations; the stated maximum or minimum penalties should not be read as the automatic punishment for every viewer. Elsewhere, copyright rules and enforcement vary by country. The service, source of the content, user’s conduct, whether content is streamed or downloaded, and local law can all matter. Do not assume that a conclusion about India applies in the United States or another country. A VPN does not make unauthorized streaming legal, authenticate an APK or protect against phishing within an app.
Does using it on a TV or emulator make it safer?
No. Fire TV, Android TV and generic TV boxes have different security models, but sideloading still involves trusting the file and its source. A TV may expose less personal information than a primary phone in some setups, but it remains connected to a network and may have access to storage or other resources depending on its configuration. It can also be easier to overlook permission prompts on a television interface. An emulator or separate device is not a reliable safety workaround.
If you have not installed Pikashow
- Do not download the APK or disable Play Protect or Android security controls to force an installation.
- Do not provide account or payment credentials to the app or its download pages.

If Pikashow is already installed
- Uninstall it. Long-press its icon and choose Uninstall, or look for Settings → Apps → Pikashow → Uninstall. Menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer.
- Delete the downloaded APK and suspicious files. Use your Files or file-manager app, then empty its trash if available.
- Turn off unknown-app installation access. Look under Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps and revoke permission for the browser, file manager, messaging app or other source you used. Exact labels can vary.
- Run a Play Protect scan. Open Google Play Store → profile picture → Play Protect → Scan and keep protection enabled. If Android recommends a scan of an unknown APK that is still on the device, allow it.
- Check permissions and recently installed apps. Review Settings → Apps for anything unfamiliar, especially apps installed around the same time.
- Secure accounts if you entered credentials. From a device you believe is clean, change affected passwords, enable multifactor authentication, sign out of other sessions and check recent activity and email-forwarding rules. If you entered card or banking details, contact your bank or card issuer promptly.
- Escalate if suspicious behavior persists. Unexpected messages, Accessibility behavior, pop-ups outside the app, unexplained overheating or battery drain, unknown apps or unauthorized transactions need prompt investigation. If problems continue after removal, seek technical support or consider a factory reset after making sure your backup contains only files you trust.
Uninstalling is a sensible first step, but it cannot guarantee that every threat or unwanted change has been removed.

Safer ways to watch
If Pikashow appeals because it promises a broad catalogue for free, choose a licensed service or a free, ad-supported legal option instead. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and JioHotstar are among the OTT platforms listed by India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; their catalogues and availability vary by country. The ministry’s list is a starting point, not a guarantee that every title is available in every region.
Official services such as Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar may require a subscription, rental or separate access for some titles. Where supported, free ad-supported options such as Tubi, Pluto TV and verified broadcaster, studio or creator channels on YouTube can be alternatives. Check local availability and whether the specific programme is included. No antivirus, VPN or clean APK scan can turn an untrusted app into a trustworthy licensed service.
