Yes, you can watch NFL games on a Fire TV Stick using official apps—but no single subscription carries every game. For free local games, use an antenna connected to a TV tuner; for out-of-market Sunday afternoon games, consider NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube or YouTube TV. Primetime games and other exclusives are split among services such as Prime Video, Peacock and ESPN/ABC. The right setup depends on which games you want and where you live.
This guide covers U.S. viewing options. Game availability, app support, prices and offers can change, so check the official game listing and your ZIP code before subscribing.

There is no legal “one app has everything” solution. The NFL distributes games across local broadcast networks, national networks and streaming services. The NFL’s official ways-to-watch guide and live-game guide are useful for checking the platform assigned to a particular game.

What you can watch on Firestick, by game type
The following are typical U.S. destinations, not a guarantee for every game. The schedule, local market and special-event rights determine where a specific broadcast appears.

Some games may be carried through services such as Netflix or YouTube under season-specific arrangements. Check the listing for the specific game rather than relying on a generic weekly schedule.
What is actually free?
Local broadcasts with an antenna
If your home can receive local CBS, FOX or NBC over the air, an antenna can let you watch games those stations broadcast without paying for a streaming subscription. Reception depends on your location, signal conditions, antenna placement and local affiliate schedule. An antenna does not provide ESPN, Prime Video exclusives, Sunday Ticket or every out-of-market game.
A standard Fire TV Stick is an internet streaming device, not an antenna tuner. Connect the antenna to a compatible television or separate tuner; the TV can then show over-the-air channels independently of the Firestick. Network tuners and specialized apps are a separate setup whose compatibility varies. See the NFL’s guidance on local and out-of-market viewing.
Selected free streams
An official free stream may be available for a particular game or event, but it is not a dependable way to watch the entire league for free. Use the NFL’s current live-game guide to find the authorized destination.

Avoid websites promising every game free, pirate IPTV, modified APKs, unofficial Kodi builds and credentials sold or shared without authorization. They can violate rights, expose payment details or install malicious software. A VPN should not be treated as a way to bypass broadcast-market restrictions.
Install official apps on Fire TV
Install the NFL app
- Connect the Fire TV Stick to the internet and open the Fire TV home screen.
- Select Search and search for NFL App (voice search is also an option).
- Select the official NFL app, then choose Download, Get or the equivalent button shown.
- Open the app and sign in to your NFL account. If you have a subscription or eligible TV package, authenticate with the account that provides access.
NFL provides Fire TV installation instructions. Its published device support lists FireTV 6+ among tested devices; older hardware may not support the current app or all its features. App installation alone does not grant the rights to watch every game.
Install YouTube and other services
- From the Fire TV home screen, search for YouTube.
- Choose the official YouTube app and download it.
- Sign in to the Google account used to buy or access YouTube TV or NFL Sunday Ticket.
Google’s Fire TV instructions for YouTube cover the installation flow. Search the Fire TV Appstore for the official Prime Video, Peacock, ESPN, YouTube TV or other service app you need. Depending on your game and plan, you may also use a participating provider’s app or an eligible network app. Confirm the service carries the relevant channel or event in your ZIP code before paying.

NFL+ can be worthwhile for NFL programming, live audio and eligible mobile viewing. The key distinction is device rights: NFL says live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games are available only on phones and tablets. On supported connected devices such as Fire TV, NFL+ Premium is more relevant for RedZone, replays and other supported content—not as a route to watch every live game on a television. Prices can change, and NFL says third-party billing platforms—including Amazon Fire—may involve additional fees. Compare the NFL’s current plan pricing with the price shown at checkout before subscribing. NFL+ availability is U.S.-specific; NFL support says it is not available in U.S. territories.
NFL Sunday Ticket: for out-of-market Sunday afternoons
NFL Sunday Ticket is designed for out-of-market Sunday afternoon games generally carried on CBS and FOX. NFL says it is available through YouTube and YouTube TV. On Fire TV, open the appropriate YouTube or YouTube TV app and sign in to the Google account used for the purchase.
Sunday Ticket is not a universal NFL pass. It generally does not replace your local-market Sunday broadcasts, Thursday Night Football on Prime Video, Sunday Night Football on NBC/Peacock, Monday Night Football on ESPN/ABC, NFL Network exclusives or special-event broadcasts on other platforms. It also should not be treated as a package for every playoff game. A fan whose team is local may get little value from it if the games they want are already on local television.

Use your existing TV-provider login where possible
If you already pay for cable, satellite or a live-TV streaming plan, that provider may unlock some games in the NFL app or network apps without a separate NFL+ purchase. NFL lists supported providers including Xfinity, Spectrum, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV, but access depends on the channels in your particular plan.
- Open the NFL app and go to Settings.
- Select Login with TV and Streaming Providers.
- Choose TV Providers, select your provider and complete its sign-in or activation flow.
The NFL documents this provider-authentication path and lists supported providers. A login only unlocks the channels and games included in your plan; it does not automatically provide every network, local affiliate or out-of-market game.
Choose a setup by viewing habit
- Only watch a local team: Start by checking antenna reception for local CBS, FOX and NBC. Add only the services needed for nationally exclusive games on that team’s schedule. This is often the lowest-cost approach, but it involves multiple platforms and does not add out-of-market games.
- Follow a team outside your local market: Check whether its Sunday afternoon games fall under Sunday Ticket. Add separate access for national or streaming-exclusive games. Sunday Ticket may be unnecessary for a local-market viewer.
- Want RedZone: Compare NFL+ Premium with a live-TV package carrying NFL RedZone. RedZone switches among games; it does not let you watch one chosen game in full.
- Want a cable replacement: Compare live-TV services by entering your ZIP code and checking local CBS, FOX and NBC, ESPN/ABC, NFL Network, plan tier, DVR, simultaneous streams and Fire TV support. A service that advertises NFL coverage may still lack a channel or local affiliate you need.
- Want replays rather than live games: NFL+ Premium may fit if its replay features and supported-device list meet your needs. Check the plan details before subscribing.
- Want the broadest practical coverage: Expect a combination of local broadcast access, a live-TV service or provider login, Prime Video, and possibly Sunday Ticket and other event-specific apps. Even a broad combination is not one universal subscription.
Troubleshooting: app works, but the game does not
The NFL app installs but the live video is locked
The game may not be included in your plan, may be out of market, may be assigned to another service, or may be subject to NFL+’s connected-device limits. Confirm the game’s platform in the official viewing guide, then check your market, subscription and signed-in account. If you have a qualifying provider, authenticate in the NFL app or open the service’s own app.
Sunday Ticket does not show the game
It may be a local-market game, a nationally televised broadcast or an event carried by another platform—not an out-of-market Sunday afternoon CBS/FOX game. Check the game’s listing and your location using the Sunday Ticket viewing information.

The app is missing or will not install
Check the Fire TV model and software version, account/device region, free storage and network connection. Update Fire OS, restart the device, clear the affected app’s cache, remove unused apps if storage is low, and reinstall from the official Appstore. Do not use a random APK as a workaround; Amazon’s sideloading documentation describes a developer/testing process, not a recommendation to install unofficial sports-streaming apps.
Login or playback trouble
Make sure the app is signed into the same account that holds the subscription or provider access. Update the app and Fire OS, restart the Firestick and router, and try the dedicated service app if the NFL app’s provider authentication is failing. If video buffers, test the connection and reduce other network traffic; buffering does not change which games your subscription is entitled to show.
Bottom line
For free NFL viewing on a Firestick setup, start with an antenna for local broadcasts—but connect it to a TV tuner, not directly to a standard Firestick. For out-of-market Sunday afternoons, look at Sunday Ticket. For a particular primetime or exclusive game, use the service named for that broadcast. NFL+ Premium can add RedZone and replays on supported Fire TV devices, but it is not a way to watch every live game on your television. Always check the game, market and plan before subscribing.
