Amazon associates Prime Video Error 2063 mainly with a payment or order problem. Before trying to buy or rent again, check Your Orders to see whether the transaction completed. If it did not, update the payment method used for that specific purchase, rental, membership, or add-on; if it did, troubleshoot playback instead.
What Prime Video Error 2063 means
Error 2063 is associated with problems processing a Prime Video payment or order. It does not, by itself, identify the precise cause or prove that your card was declined. Amazon lists possible issues including outdated payment details, a card that does not support online transactions, insufficient available funds or credit, and verification requested by Amazon or your bank. Start with Amazon’s Error 2063 payment guidance and its Prime Video payment and order troubleshooting.
Where the code appears helps choose the right fix: an error after selecting Buy, Rent, or Subscribe points to the transaction path. If the order completed but the title will not play, the problem is more likely playback-related. Buffering, VPN, cache, network, and HDMI steps are not the first response to a failed payment.

Check the order before you try again
- Open Amazon Your Orders or the relevant digital-orders area and look for the title or subscription.
- Check whether the order is completed, pending, canceled, absent, or asking you to update payment details.
- Check your card or bank account for a pending authorization or completed charge. A bank authorization alone does not confirm that an Amazon order completed.
- Choose the next step: if the order completed, do not buy the title again; if Amazon requests a payment update, follow that prompt; if there is no order and no charge, correct the payment method before retrying; if a charge appears but no order does, contact Amazon and your card issuer before making another attempt.
Amazon advises checking order status when payment or order errors occur, and its Fire TV troubleshooting guidance also says to confirm that a recently purchased video order completed before troubleshooting playback. As a general payment-safety precaution, avoid repeatedly submitting a failed transaction: repeated attempts can create multiple pending authorizations even if no completed purchase appears.

Fix 2063 for a movie or TV rental or purchase
- Use Amazon’s Update Your Payment Method flow for Prime Video purchases and rentals. Check that the method selected for this transaction is the one you intend to use; a method saved elsewhere in Amazon may not be the one attached to a particular purchase flow.
- Verify the card number, expiration date, three-digit security code, and any billing or account details Amazon requests.
- If Amazon or your bank asks for verification, complete it using the bank’s approved process. Verification can be requested for an existing subscription as well as a new purchase.
- If the card is still rejected, try another eligible saved payment method after confirming that no previous order completed. Make sure the alternative supports online transactions and has enough available funds or credit.
Payment screens and accepted methods vary by country, account, device, and transaction type. The cited Amazon instructions are UK-hosted; readers in the United States may see different labels or a different help flow. Amazon also provides a US-region Prime Video help page.
Fix 2063 for Prime membership or a Prime Video add-on
For a Prime membership or a Prime Video add-on subscription, open Manage Your Memberships & Subscriptions and review the payment method associated with that subscription. Check the related 1-Click settings as well, and confirm the intended payment method is selected. If a verification prompt appears, complete it through the bank’s approved process before trying to renew or subscribe again. Menu labels and available billing options may vary by region and account.

If the purchase uses Apple billing
If you started the purchase through an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or another iOS/tvOS purchase flow that bills through Apple, update the payment details in the Apple account’s App Store or iTunes settings. Changing only the payment method saved in Amazon may not fix an Apple-billed transaction. Check Your Orders before retrying so you do not place a duplicate order.

Once the order record confirms the purchase, treat a failure to watch as a separate playback issue. Amazon’s general playback troubleshooting recommends working through these checks:

- Close Prime Video or the browser, then reopen it.
- Set the device’s date and time to automatic.
- Turn off a VPN or proxy while testing playback; Amazon recommends this for playback troubleshooting, not as the primary payment fix for Error 2063.
- Power off the device for at least 60 seconds, then restart it.
- Install available updates for the device, browser, and Prime Video app.
- Check the network connection and restart the router if needed.
- If the issue persists, reinstall the Prime Video app. Reserve a factory reset for last, because it removes account information and downloaded content from apps.
Additional checks for Fire TV
- Check for system updates under Settings → My Fire TV or Settings → Device & Software, depending on the model.
- Restart the Fire TV, or unplug it for one minute.
- To restart the home network, Amazon’s Fire TV instructions say to unplug the modem and router for 30 seconds, then power the modem on before the router.
- If playback still fails, clear Prime Video’s cache and data under Settings → Applications. This is a playback step, not a fix for incorrect payment details.
- For a display or connection problem, check HDMI/HDCP compatibility. Amazon specifies HDCP 1.4 for HD content and HDCP 2.2 for UHD/HDR; Dolby Vision also requires compatible support from the display and connected device.
When to contact your bank
If the payment details are correct but the transaction still fails, ask the card issuer: “Was an Amazon or Prime Video digital transaction declined, blocked, or held for verification?” The issuer may be able to see a decline or verification reason that Amazon does not show. Ask whether the card supports online or e-commerce transactions and whether the available balance or credit was sufficient. Amazon also suggests trying another payment method if necessary.

Contact Amazon Prime Video support if a charge appears without an order, a completed order does not provide the title, several eligible payment methods fail, or a subscription still shows a payment error after verification. Provide the error code, title or subscription, device and app or browser, approximate time of the attempt, whether your bank shows a pending or completed charge, whether the order appears in Your Orders, and which payment methods you tried. Never send support your full card number, security code, or password.
