The seven-channel expansion happened during the week of September 20, 2024—not this week in 2026. The additions to Google TV Freeplay were The Bob Ross Channel, Comedy Dynamics, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, DAZN Ringside, DAZN Women’s Football, Dove Channel, and The Hill TV. They were presented as part of Google’s built-in, ad-supported Freeplay service for supported U.S. Google TV devices.
Because Freeplay’s lineup changes, some of these channels may no longer appear under the same names or in the same places. Treat the list below as a dated record, then check the Live guide on your own device.
The seven channels reported on September 20, 2024
- The Bob Ross Channel: Bob Ross painting programs and related relaxing, instructional viewing.
- Comedy Dynamics: Stand-up comedy and comedy-special programming.
- Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: Programs associated with Cesar Millan’s dog-training series.
- DAZN Ringside: Boxing and other combat-sports-related programming.
- DAZN Women’s Football: Women’s soccer programming associated with DAZN.
- Dove Channel: Faith-oriented and family-friendly entertainment.
- The Hill TV: News, political commentary, and current-affairs programming from The Hill.
These descriptions indicate the channels’ general focus, not a guaranteed permanent schedule or an exclusive catalog. Channel names, schedules, and rights can change.

What Google TV Freeplay is
Freeplay is Google TV’s integrated free, ad-supported live-TV service. Google described the service as having about 150 channels in its September 23, 2024 announcement, but that was a dated count rather than a permanent total. Google’s own overview is at Google’s blog.
For the built-in Freeplay channels, Google says you do not need a subscription, a separate app installation, or a channel-specific registration. “Free” means there is no direct subscription charge; advertising remains part of the viewing experience.

How to find Freeplay channels
- Turn on a compatible Google TV device in the supported U.S. configuration.
- Open the Live section from the Google TV home screen.
- Browse the integrated guide or the Freeplay channel categories.
- Select a channel to start watching.
Google also says Freeplay channels can appear in recommendations or through the Google TV Freeplay app. Menus vary by television, streaming device, language, and software version. The relevant Google help instructions are at Google TV Help.

Google documents Freeplay as U.S.-only. The Live tab and channel behavior can also depend on the device, country, language, account configuration, and current software. This does not mean every Android TV device, Chromecast generation, or Google-branded product has identical Freeplay menus.

Why a listed channel may be missing
- The lineup changed: Freeplay channels are not fixed, and a 2024 addition may have been removed, renamed, or replaced.
- Your device is outside the U.S.: Google’s documented Freeplay availability is limited to the United States.
- Software is outdated: Update Google TV, and make sure the Google TV Home app is current when Freeplay is not working.
- Region or account settings differ: Device and account configuration can affect the Live tab and available channels.
- You are viewing a partner service: Google TV’s Live interface can also list channels from apps such as Pluto TV, Tubi, Plex, or paid providers. Those may require an app, sign-in, or subscription.
Google’s current support documentation includes channels that were not in the 2024 report, illustrating why an old list should not be treated as a current guide.

Favorites and parental controls
Marking channels as favorites
- Open Live.
- Select a channel.
- Choose the star or favorite control.
- Switch between all channels and your favorites.
Exact labels can differ by device and software version.
Restricting mature content
On supported devices, Google documents this path: Settings → Accounts & profiles → select the account → Content restrictions → Google TV channels. Sign-in may be required, and menu names can vary.

What the DAZN channels do—and do not—include
DAZN Ringside and DAZN Women’s Football are channels within a free, ad-supported guide. Their presence does not provide the complete DAZN subscription library, every premium live event, or all of DAZN’s sports rights. Availability and event coverage can change.

Should you buy a device for Freeplay?
You do not need new hardware if your existing television already offers the required Google TV Live and Freeplay experience. If it does not, Google sells the Google TV Streamer, and Google TV televisions are available from manufacturers including TCL, Hisense, Sony, and Walmart onn. Model support, prices, and software versions should be checked before purchase; Freeplay is a feature, not by itself a reason to replace a working TV.
The Bottom Line
The seven-channel story is a September 20, 2024 update, not a current August 2026 addition. The Bob Ross Channel is the most distinctive entry, while the broader value of Freeplay is its no-subscription, integrated live-TV convenience. Open the Live guide on a supported U.S. Google TV device and verify the current lineup rather than relying on the historical list.
