Start with the official Flight 8 mission page for the replay and SpaceX’s mission account. SpaceX’s webcast page is the central destination for its broadcasts, while its YouTube channel and X account are official channels.
NASASpaceflight’s coverage is an independent alternative, not an official SpaceX feed. Independent coverage can add commentary and camera views; rely on SpaceX’s mission page for the company’s official updates and stated results.
Flight 8 launch time
The actual liftoff was at 5:30 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Because U.S. daylight saving time had not yet started that year, the time conversions were:

A launch-window opening is the earliest time a launch attempt can take place, not a promise of liftoff at that minute. Flight 8 had an earlier attempt scrubbed and its target shifted before the March 6 launch. Contemporary coverage expected the webcast to begin about 30–40 minutes before the attempt, but that was an estimate for this flight, not a guaranteed schedule for every SpaceX broadcast.
What Starship Flight 8 tested
Flight 8 was the eighth test flight of SpaceX’s two-stage Starship system: the Super Heavy booster and Starship upper stage. The vehicle launched from Starbase, Texas, which SpaceX identifies as its Starship development, manufacturing, testing, and launch location (SpaceX locations).

The planned sequence included ascent, hot-staging separation, and a return attempt by Super Heavy, including a catch by the launch tower. SpaceX reported that the booster completed its return and was caught—the third successful Super Heavy catch. The company’s mission page also records that Starship continued into flight-test operations, but the later flight encountered an anomaly. The booster milestone should not be read as proof that every Starship objective was completed.
What you see in the replay
The webcast follows the mission from prelaunch commentary and countdown through propellant loading, liftoff, booster ascent and separation, the booster’s return attempt, and Starship’s subsequent flight. Exact timing and the sequence of on-screen updates can vary; the countdown is not a guarantee that each event will occur on a fixed schedule.

Schedule and stream caveats
Before any launch, dates and times are targets. Weather, range or airspace restrictions, vehicle or ground-system issues, propellant loading, and safety considerations can delay or scrub an attempt. A scrub means the attempt was postponed before liftoff; it is different from an anomaly during flight.
Use the SpaceX webcast or mission page rather than an unverified stream. On video platforms, confirm that the account is SpaceX’s official channel, and be wary of streams promising giveaways, cryptocurrency, or a guaranteed launch time. Starbase is an operational aerospace facility, not an open public viewing site; do not assume the public can enter SpaceX property.
