Spotify has full-length music videos, but the feature is still in beta. In the U.S., Spotify lists music videos as a Premium feature. Play a supported song, open Now Playing, then select Switch to video. Availability also depends on your country, device and the individual track—Premium does not mean every song has a video.
How to watch Spotify music videos
Spotify’s video feature lets you move from a supported song’s audio to its full-length video in the same playback session. Spotify says playback resumes at the closest matching timestamp, though that may not be an exact match if the video has a different edit, intro or duration. The controls and supported devices are described in Spotify’s music-video help page.
On a phone or tablet
- Open Spotify and play a track that has a video.
- Open the Now Playing screen.
- Tap Switch to video, shown above the song title.
- Rotate your device to landscape for full-screen viewing, if you like.
- Tap Switch to audio to return to audio playback.
On desktop or the web player
- Play a supported track in the Spotify desktop app or web player.
- Open Now Playing.
- Choose Switch to video above the song title. Use the full-screen option if desired.
- Choose Switch to audio to go back.
The layout can vary between interface versions, so look in the Now Playing view rather than expecting the control in precisely the same spot on every screen.
On a TV
Start the song on a phone, tablet or another Spotify device, then use Spotify Connect to send playback to the TV. From the device controlling playback, open Now Playing and tap Switch to video. TV viewing settings can be adjusted from the TV task bar. Spotify lists TV support, but that does not guarantee video playback on every television, streaming device or app version.

How to find tracks with videos
The quickest check is to play the song and look for Switch to video in Now Playing. Spotify also surfaces video through artist profiles, release pages, Home, editorial video playlists, a video shelf in Now Playing and the personalized Videos For You playlist. These surfaces help with discovery, but an artist or song search does not guarantee a video is available.
The catalog includes official music videos as well as live performances and covers. Check the video title and artist information if you are looking for a particular official studio version. Spotify describes the catalog as thousands of videos, with more being added; it is not a promise that every track has a video or that Spotify contains the full catalog found on a dedicated video platform. Who can watch?
For U.S. listeners, Spotify’s support page labels music videos For: Premium. The feature also depends on being in a supported market, using a compatible app or device, and choosing a track with an available video. Spotify initially announced a beta in 11 markets in March 2024, then expanded it to U.S. and Canadian Premium users in December 2025. Rollout and availability have continued to change, so older country lists may no longer be reliable.
International availability varies. Check Spotify’s current availability information for your region and device rather than assuming Premium alone unlocks the feature everywhere. The U.S. support instructions are at Spotify Support.

If “Switch to video” is missing
- Check your plan and country. In the U.S., the standard feature is listed for Premium; access is also market-dependent.
- Try another track. The song may not have an attached video, or the video may have been removed or restricted.
- Check the version. An alternate release or recording may not be linked to the video you expect.
- Update Spotify and try again. If possible, test the same track on mobile, desktop or the web player.
- For TV, use Spotify Connect and start the switch from the controlling device.
- If the control still does not appear, log out and back in and check Spotify’s support page for current availability.
If the video is listed but will not play, try another supported interface and check whether the audio still works. A device compatibility issue, network problem, temporary playback fault or restriction on that particular video may be involved. If switching modes lands slightly out of sync, note that Spotify promises the closest matching timestamp—not frame-perfect synchronization.
Music videos, Canvas and Clips are different

Spotify’s artist information discusses music videos, Canvas and Clips as separate formats. Seeing a Canvas does not mean a full-length video is available.

Can you turn videos off?
Yes. Spotify added video controls under Settings → Content and display. These controls can turn Canvas looping visuals or videos for music and podcasts on or off. That is separate from manually choosing Switch to video, and from tapping Switch to audio during a video. If you prefer an audio-first experience, use the settings and switch controls rather than changing your account. See Spotify’s video-control settings update.

What else is changing?
Spotify has added video discovery features such as Videos For You, and artist video uploads entered beta in June 2026. It has also promoted selected early premieres: in July 2026, Spotify announced that certain videos would be available first on Spotify for 48 hours in beta markets. These are specific features and promotions, not a claim that every new release premieres on Spotify. Details can change as the beta expands. Is Premium worth it just for videos?
Probably not if you only want to watch the occasional music video or need the broadest possible catalog. Spotify’s appeal is integration: for a supported track, you can move between listening and watching without leaving the playback session, and your Spotify discovery and listening experience remain in the same app. The trade-off is an incomplete, selective catalog and availability that varies by market, plan, device and track.
For an existing Premium subscriber, videos are a useful extra. For a U.S. user considering a subscription, Spotify’s listed prices as of August 16, 2026 were $12.99 per month for Individual after the advertised introductory offer, $6.99 for Student, $18.99 for Duo and $21.99 for Family; offers, eligibility and prices can change. Check Spotify’s current U.S. plan terms before subscribing. Premium does not guarantee a video for a specific song. If finding a particular official video is your main goal, a dedicated video service may be a better fit; Spotify’s beta is not a complete replacement for YouTube.
One practical note: video uses more data and battery than audio. If you are on a cellular plan, monitor usage or watch over Wi-Fi. Spotify’s documented offline music benefits do not establish that full-length music videos can be downloaded for offline viewing, so do not assume they can.
