This is a look back at the Netflix releases scheduled for July 27 through August 3, 2024, not a current watchlist. The phrase “next week” comes from BGR’s article published July 26, 2024. Its three suggested skips were both Zack Snyder Rebel Moon director’s cuts and Joe Rogan’s live stand-up special. “Avoid” is a judgment about fit and viewing time, not a claim that nobody could enjoy them.
Why the two Rebel Moon director’s cuts were on the skip list
Netflix released both expanded editions on August 2, 2024. They are separate films, not two names for the same release: Rebel Moon — Part One: Director’s Cut, subtitled Chapter One: Chalice of Blood, and Rebel Moon — Part Two: Director’s Cut, subtitled Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. Netflix describes the cuts as adding mythology, creatures, history, action, and more mature content. Netflix Tudum’s Part One guide and its Part Two guide confirm the titles and release timing.

1. Rebel Moon — Part One: Director’s Cut
The story follows Kora, a former Imperium soldier who recruits fighters to protect the farming moon of Veldt. The director’s cut is a longer, harder-R version of that science-fiction action story; Netflix’s U.S. title page identifies it as R-rated and emphasizes violence and mature content.
The case for skipping it is strongest if the theatrical version’s pacing, world-building, or tone already wore you down. Added material may be a draw for viewers who like Snyder’s maximalist approach, but a longer cut is not automatically a better use of time for someone who did not connect with the original. Conversely, fans curious about the additional footage may prefer this edition.

2. Rebel Moon — Part Two: Director’s Cut
The sequel continues the fight as Kora and the surviving warriors prepare to defend Veldt. Its expanded edition, also released August 2, carries the subtitle Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness. Netflix’s U.S. title page likewise labels it R-rated and highlights violence and mature content.
This is the more obvious skip for anyone who disliked Part One: it asks for another substantial commitment to the same world and style. For viewers who enjoyed the first film or want to complete the story, the extra material could be the point rather than a drawback.

What the scores do—and do not—show
At the time of its July 26, 2024 publication, BGR cited Rotten Tomatoes scores of 22% from critics and 56% from audiences for Part One, and 17% from critics and 48% from audiences for Part Two. These are historical figures reported by BGR, not guaranteed current scores. Aggregate ratings help explain the caution, but they do not establish that every viewer will dislike the films.
3. Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats
Released August 3, 2024, the special is a live stand-up performance recorded at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas. Netflix lists it as a 2024, TV-MA comedy/stand-up title and tags it with descriptors including “No Filter,” “Raunchy,” “Social Commentary,” and “Irreverent.” Its Netflix title page presents it as a live set by the comedian and podcast host.

Skip it if you dislike Rogan’s unfiltered, provocative style, or if you want a scripted comedy with a conventional narrative. Watch it if you specifically want live stand-up, irreverent social commentary, or Rogan’s established performance persona. That makes this the most taste-dependent pick on the list: its tone is a direct clue to audience fit, not proof of its quality for everyone.

- If you disliked the original Rebel Moon films: the expanded cuts are the clearest candidates to leave off your list.
- If you are a Snyder fan or a completionist: the new footage and distinct chapter subtitles may make both cuts worth your time.
- If Rogan’s comedic persona is not for you: the special’s own content descriptors suggest it is unlikely to be a surprise change of pace.
- If you enjoy his live stand-up: the special is a more targeted choice than a general-purpose comedy recommendation.
The original list identified these three releases, but it does not establish a verified set of better alternatives from the same week. The useful takeaway is therefore a filter: prioritize according to your tolerance for extended Snyder action and Rogan’s specific comedy style, rather than treating a low score or a “skip” label as a universal verdict.
