Super Bowl LVII was played on Sunday, February 12, 2023, so it is no longer available as a live event. At the time, FOX carried the English-language U.S. broadcast and FOX Deportes carried the Spanish-language telecast. For Android TV or Google TV, viewers could use the FOX Sports app or a live-TV service carrying their local FOX station; on ChromeOS, the simplest route was a browser stream at FOXSports.com or a provider’s website.
This is a historical guide to the live-broadcast options, not a current way to watch the game live. FOX’s connected-TV app lineup has since changed: FOX says FOX One replaced the FOX Sports app on supported TV platforms in 2026.
At a glance
- Android TV/Google TV: The FOX Sports app was the direct option, with TV-provider authentication normally required. YouTube TV, Sling TV, and Hulu + Live TV were alternatives where they carried the viewer’s local FOX affiliate.
- ChromeOS: Open Chrome and watch through FOXSports.com or a live-TV provider’s web player; sign in if prompted.
- Without a streaming subscription: A TV and antenna could receive a local FOX station where signal coverage allowed. This was an over-the-air option, not an Android TV app.
FOX announced Super Bowl LVII streaming through FOXSports.com and the FOX Sports app, and promoted a 4K/UHD presentation on compatible devices. Availability depended on the service, device, and feed.
Broadcast details
The Kansas City Chiefs faced the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Kickoff was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Eastern (4:30 p.m. Mountain). FOX carried the national English-language broadcast; FOX Deportes offered the Spanish-language telecast. Pregame coverage began earlier in the day. The event’s broadcast and streaming options are summarized in this contemporary viewing guide.

Watching on Android TV or Google TV
For the 2023 game, the main native-app route was FOX Sports. Google TV is the interface on some devices running Android TV, but supported apps and login flows can vary by model, country, and software version.
- Open Apps or the Google Play Store on the TV device.
- Search for FOX Sports and install the official app if it is available for that device.
- Open the app and select the live event.
- If asked, choose Sign in or Connect TV Provider, then authenticate with a participating provider account.
Provider examples reported around the event included YouTube TV, Hulu, DIRECTV, Dish, Xfinity, Spectrum, Verizon, Cox, and AT&T U-verse. That was not a guarantee that every provider worked in every market or that every package included the relevant local station. The FOX Sports app’s normal authentication model should also be distinguished from any event-specific access FOX may have offered for the Super Bowl; a temporary event arrangement should not be read as a permanent free-stream policy.
If the app was not listed, check the device’s country, compatibility, and pending system updates. Use the official app store rather than sideloading an APK from an unknown site. A generic Android box is not necessarily a certified Android TV device, and app, DRM, or provider-login support may fail on it.

Watching on a Chromebook or other ChromeOS device
ChromeOS is not Android TV, so the dependable default is browser playback rather than installing a TV app.
- Open Chrome on the Chromebook.
- Go to FOXSports.com or the website of a live-TV provider that carried FOX in your area.
- Sign in if the site requests a provider account, then select the live FOX stream or event.
- Use the player’s full-screen control. Keep the Chromebook plugged in for the duration of the game.
Some Chromebooks can install Android apps from Google Play, but support and app permissions vary; do not assume the FOX Sports TV app will work on every Chromebook. If browser playback fails, update ChromeOS, confirm the device’s date and time, and try an incognito window to check whether an extension is interfering. Temporarily disable aggressive ad-blocking or privacy extensions for the site if necessary. For stuttering, close unused tabs, improve the Wi-Fi connection or use a supported Ethernet adapter, and lower the player quality if that option is available.

Which viewing option made sense?

Prices in articles from February 2023 are historical, not current quotes. For reference, coverage published February 9, 2023 listed YouTube TV at $64.99 per month, Sling at $40 per month, and Hulu + Live TV at $69.99 per month; promotions were also reported at that time. Those figures should not be used to compare or budget for services today. Check each provider’s current price, cancellation terms, and local channel lookup before subscribing.
4K and viewing controls
FOX promoted a 4K/UHD Super Bowl presentation through its app on compatible devices. “4K” availability depended on the device, app, stream, and connection; it did not mean that every viewer or every provider received the same picture. Contemporary coverage described YouTube TV’s 4K offering for the event as an upscaled version of a 1080p feed, rather than a native 4K game production. Do not assume HDR, a particular frame rate, or 4K availability from the mere presence of a TV app.
The FOX Sports app’s live stream was reported at the time as lacking ordinary pause-and-rewind scrubbing. That was a description of the 2023 app experience, not a claim about every provider’s player or FOX’s later products.

The streaming service does not show FOX
Most often, the service did not carry the local affiliate for the subscriber’s ZIP code, or the selected package did not include it. Check the provider’s channel lookup before signing up. If the station is unavailable, compare another service or consider an antenna if local reception is possible.
FOX Sports rejects the provider login
Confirm that the provider account includes the relevant FOX channel and is supported for authentication. In the app, use the provider sign-in flow rather than entering only a FOX account. Updating the app, signing out, restarting the device, and repeating provider authentication may help. If it still fails, try the provider’s own website or player.

The app is missing or will not play
App availability can depend on region, hardware, and operating-system support. Check the official store and update the device. Avoid unofficial APK downloads. FOX says the FOX Sports app was scheduled to leave connected-TV platforms on May 7, 2026, with FOX One becoming the TV and connected-device destination; see FOX’s platform FAQ for current product information. That change does not make Super Bowl LVII a live event again.

Close extra tabs, plug in the Chromebook, and use a stronger Wi-Fi connection or supported wired adapter. Test an incognito window to identify extension conflicts, and check that the provider supports playback at your location. If the browser player offers quality settings, reducing resolution can help on a weak connection.
What about NFL+?
Contemporary coverage also listed the NFL+ app as a place to watch the game. NFL streaming rights, package terms, and connected-TV support vary by season, country, and device. It should not be assumed that an NFL+ subscription provided the same full-screen TV experience as FOX. For the specific 2023 broadcast, FOX’s own website and FOX Sports app were the clearest direct streaming routes.
What this means now
Super Bowl LVII is over; none of these historical instructions will open a live 2023 broadcast today. If you are choosing a FOX app for a current connected TV in 2026, check FOX One and the device’s official app store rather than relying on old FOX Sports app directions. A current subscription or app cannot turn this past game into a live stream.
