Open the Prime Video app on your TV, choose Sign In or Register, then follow the option on screen: scan a QR code, enter a displayed code on Amazon’s registration page, approve a prompt in the Prime Video phone app, or type your Amazon account details on the TV. The available method and button names vary by device, so follow the instructions shown in the official app.
Before you start
- Your TV or connected streaming device must support Prime Video and be connected to the internet.
- Install Prime Video from the device’s app store if it is not already there.
- Have the email address or phone number for the Amazon account you want to use. A phone, tablet, or computer is useful for QR-code or activation-code sign-in, but it is not needed if the TV lets you enter credentials directly.
You can sign in with an Amazon account, but signing in does not automatically include every title. Viewing access depends on the account’s Prime Video membership, rental or purchase, channel subscription, or other entitlement.

Sign in with a QR code
- Open Prime Video on the TV and choose Sign In, Register, or a similarly named option.
- When a QR code appears, scan it with your phone’s camera.
- Follow the Amazon sign-in prompt and check that it shows the Amazon account you intend to use.
- Return to the TV and wait for the app to finish registering and load.
Scan only a code displayed inside the Prime Video app on your TV. If the camera does not recognize it, try the phone’s native camera, adjust the distance until the code is in focus, or choose another sign-in option on the TV.

Sign in with the code shown on your TV
- Open Prime Video and select Sign In or Register.
- Note the code on the TV screen.
- On a phone or computer, open the registration address shown on the TV. In the United States, amazon.com/mytv is a commonly used example; use the address displayed by your TV if it differs.
- Sign in to the Amazon account you want on the TV, if asked.
- Enter the code and select Register Device, Continue, or the equivalent button.
- Wait for the TV app to refresh or return to its home screen.
Code length and button labels can vary. Some Amazon support instructions refer to a five-character code, but not every device uses the same format. Codes can also expire. If one is rejected, return to the TV, generate a fresh code, and enter it promptly at the address shown in the app. Do not submit a code to a website reached through an unsolicited email, pop-up, or advertisement.
Use the Prime Video phone app’s sign-in prompt
Some devices may offer a notification that lets you approve sign-in through the Prime Video app on your phone. This is not available on every TV. If the option appears, make sure the phone app is updated and signed in to the Amazon account you want to use. Connect the phone and TV or streaming device to the same home Wi-Fi network, then follow the prompt. If no notification arrives, use the QR-code, activation-code, or direct sign-in option instead.

Enter your Amazon details on the TV
Some devices offer an option such as Sign in and Start Watching. Select it, enter the Amazon account email address or phone number and password with the remote, then complete any security check shown. This route can be slower to type, but it works without a second device when the TV provides it.

- Open the TV or streaming device’s app store.
- Search for Prime Video.
- Select Install, Download, or Get.
- Open the app and choose its sign-in or registration option.
Menu names differ across Samsung, LG, Roku, Google TV/Android TV, Apple TV, game consoles, and other platforms. Amazon lists supported device categories and Prime Video help topics; availability can also depend on the TV model, software, and region. On Fire TV, the device may already be linked to an Amazon account from setup, so you may only need to open Prime Video and confirm the account.

Fix common sign-in problems
The activation code is rejected
Check that you used the address shown on the TV, entered the latest code correctly, and signed in to the intended Amazon account. If the code may have expired, return to the TV for a new one and retry. Confirm that the TV is online. Do not keep reusing an old code.
The QR code will not scan
Try the phone’s native camera, make sure the QR code is in focus, and check that the phone has internet access. If scanning still fails, go back to the TV and choose manual code registration or direct sign-in if offered.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
The app returns to the sign-in screen
- Confirm that the TV or streaming device is connected to the internet.
- Check that you are using the right Amazon account and that its password works. Reset the password if needed.
- Close and reopen Prime Video, then restart the TV or device.
- Install available updates for Prime Video and the device software.
- If the problem continues, deregister the device remotely, then open the app and register it again with a new code.
Amazon identifies incorrect account details, password issues, and temporary connection problems as possible causes of sign-in trouble. Its sign-in help also explains remote deregistration: on the Prime Video website, open Account & Settings > Devices and select Deregister beside the relevant device. Menu wording may vary.

Prime Video is missing from the app store
Your TV model or operating system may not support the app, or availability may differ in your region. Check for a device software update and confirm you are searching the correct app store. If the app remains unavailable, use another supported device connected to the TV, such as a compatible streaming player, game console, or Blu-ray player. Not every smart TV supports Prime Video.

Switch Amazon accounts or sign out
In the Prime Video app, open its account or settings menu and choose Sign Out, Deregister, or the equivalent option. Then sign in again using the other Amazon account. If you cannot sign out on the TV, use the Prime Video website’s Account & Settings > Devices page to deregister it remotely, then register it again.
Signing in is different from casting
Signing in registers the Prime Video app on the TV to an Amazon account. Casting sends video from the phone app to a compatible screen and is a separate process. For Chromecast or Android TV, Amazon says the phone and TV should be on the same Wi-Fi network; then select the Cast icon in the Prime Video app and choose the device. For Fire TV, the phone app and Fire TV should be signed in to the same Amazon account. See Amazon’s casting instructions.
If you can sign in but cannot play a title
If the app recognizes your account but a particular title asks you to rent, buy, join Prime, or subscribe to a channel, the TV registration has likely worked. Check whether that title is included with your account or requires a separate rental, purchase, membership, or channel subscription.
Outside the United States, app availability, account details, catalog, and registration pages may differ. Follow the instructions and URL displayed by your local Prime Video app.
