Gamescom 2025 reported 357,000 on-site visitors and more than 630 million worldwide digital views by Saturday evening. The organizers called the Cologne event record-setting across several measures—but 630 million is a count of views across the show program, not 630 million verified individual viewers.
Gamescom 2025 at a glance
The German Games Industry Association (game) and Koelnmesse, Gamescom’s co-organizers, said the 2025 event set new highs for attendance, online reach, exhibitors, exhibition space and international participation. The figures describe a hybrid event: a large public festival and trade fair in Cologne, alongside a program distributed digitally around the world.

The 2024 figures are from Koelnmesse’s comparison; 2025 figures were reported by game and Koelnmesse. On-site attendance rose by 22,000, or about 6.6% year over year. These are reported visitor totals over the event period, not a claim that everyone was present at once.
What “630 million views” means
By Saturday evening, the organizers said Gamescom’s entire show program had generated more than 630 million views worldwide, a 105% increase on their comparable 2024 measure. This is a view count, not a verified count of unique people. Repeated viewing, or viewing across more than one platform, can contribute multiple views. It is therefore accurate to say the program generated more than 630 million digital views; it is not accurate to say 630 million people watched Gamescom.

Opening Night Live, the event’s headline showcase, was reported separately at 72 million views by Saturday evening, up 80% year over year. That figure is part of the broader story of digital reach, not the same as the total for the whole program. The organizers’ official summary gives the Opening Night Live figure.
There is also a caveat when comparing online totals across years. Gamescom materials for 2024 refer to more than 310 million views for the show program by Saturday evening, while a later Koelnmesse statement cites more than 500 million video views without the same scope breakdown. Those figures should not be treated as directly interchangeable. The 105% increase is the organizers’ stated like-for-like comparison; the available reporting does not provide one unified methodology for every published digital-reach number.

A larger international trade fair and public event
The 357,000 visitors came from 128 countries, and the organizers said about 70% of visitors were from abroad. More than 34,000 were trade visitors, the industry attendees who come for professional meetings and business activity as well as the games on display. The show hosted 1,568 exhibitors from 72 countries across 233,000 square metres of gross exhibition space, with 40 country pavilions representing 35 countries.
Those measures show growth in the event’s footprint and international mix, not just in its crowd size. The organizers also highlighted stronger trade participation from the United States, China, Canada and Japan. Gamescom’s format brings together demonstrations, announcements, publisher and developer activity, public entertainment and digital programming. That combination helps explain how its reach can extend well beyond the people who travel to Cologne.

What the records do—and do not—show
The reported figures support a clear conclusion: Gamescom 2025 was larger than its 2024 edition across several important measures. They also reinforce the event’s role as both a consumer gathering and an international media platform. Publishers can use the week for demonstrations, press exposure, business meetings and community engagement, while online programming reaches audiences who cannot attend in person.
But attendance and view counts alone do not establish that every exhibitor benefited commercially, that visitors were more satisfied, or that the wider games business has fully recovered from recent difficulties. game’s co-organizer statement described the results as a positive signal for the industry; that is an industry assessment, not a conclusion proven by crowd size alone. The record claims should likewise be attributed to the organizers rather than presented as independently audited figures.

Gamescom Congress is a separate count
Gamescom Congress 2025 also reported a record, with more than 1,000 guests and around 180 international experts. It is a related conference about the social, economic and technological potential of games, not part of the main event’s 357,000 visitor total. Its official press information reports the Congress attendance separately.
