Apple Music’s Android 5.0.0 beta was reported to add selected features associated with Apple Music in iOS 26, including Library pinning and lyric tools. It did not bring iOS 26 itself to Android, and the reported beta retained Android’s familiar interface rather than adopting iOS 26’s Liquid Glass design. The distinction matters: the 2025 report described a beta, while Apple’s Google Play listing, last updated July 30, 2026, now confirms some features but does not document every beta-reported addition.
What the Android update actually added
On September 5, 2025, Gizchina reported that Apple Music version 5.0.0 beta for Android was adding a set of features linked to Apple Music’s iOS 26 update. This was an update to Apple’s Android music app, not an Android operating-system update or a port of iOS 26.
The report described these changes:
- Library pinning: Pin songs, albums, playlists, and artists for quicker access.
- Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation: Tools intended to help users understand lyrics and pronounce words in unfamiliar languages or scripts. The report said these were teased in the beta.
- Replay statistics: The beta’s splash screen reportedly teased monthly listening statistics and access to the year-end summary in the app.
- Refreshed playback controls: Pill-shaped controls and updated Play and Shuffle buttons on album pages.
Those details describe what the beta report said, not a guarantee that every feature reached every Android user or remains available in every current build. Gizchina’s September 2025 report is the source for the beta-specific account.

How Library pinning was reported to work
In the reported beta, a user could pin a song, album, playlist, or artist from its overflow menu, then find it in a pinned area of the Library. A long press could remove a pin or change what happened when the item was tapped. The report also described an option for pinned content to download automatically for offline listening.

Gizchina said pins could synchronize across Apple devices, though it suggested that pinning or unpinning an item might be needed to trigger full synchronization. Treat that, along with the auto-download behavior, as reported beta behavior—not a verified description of every current Android installation.
Pinning would be most useful for frequently played albums, artists, or playlists, particularly when a listener wants a shorter route to offline listening. However, Apple’s current Google Play listing does not mention Library pinning. Check your installed app rather than assuming the control is available: the evidence does not establish its presence in every current build.
What lyric translation and pronunciation do
Lyrics Translation displays a translation of lyrics, while Lyrics Pronunciation helps a listener sound out lyrics written in an unfamiliar language or script. They address different needs; one should not be assumed to accompany the other.

Apple’s current Google Play listing confirms these tools for select songs in select languages and scripts. A track may have synchronized lyrics but no translation, or a translation without pronunciation support. Availability can depend on the song, language, script, region, and available song metadata. Apple describes translations and pronunciations as part of Apple Music Sing, alongside synchronized lyrics and adjustable vocals, on its Apple Music product page. Treat a displayed translation as a listening aid, not a certified translation.
Replay in the app remains less certain
The 2025 beta report said an updated splash screen teased monthly Replay statistics and the year-end Replay summary inside the Android app. It did not provide a full feature list, rollout schedule, or compatibility details. Apple’s current Google Play listing does not mention Replay, so the available evidence does not establish that in-app Replay is now available to all Android users.
If Replay is absent from your app, that alone does not show that you missed a setting or installed the update incorrectly. The feature was described as teased in the beta report, not as a universally available current feature.

Android got some visual changes, not Liquid Glass
In the Android beta described by Gizchina, playback controls received a pill-shaped refresh, but Apple Music kept its conventional Android layout, including bottom navigation and docked Now Playing controls. The report explicitly said that iOS 26’s Liquid Glass redesign was not included.
That is a design distinction, not a promise about future updates. Apple brought selected Apple Music capabilities to its separate Android app; it did not announce that the complete iOS interface, or Liquid Glass, would arrive on Android.
What Apple’s current Android listing confirms
As of August 18, 2026, Google Play showed Apple Music for Android as updated on July 30, 2026. The official listing advertises the following capabilities:

- Personalized playlists and stations, AutoPlay, artist content, radio, and concert information.
The listing says lossless playback reaches up to 24-bit/192 kHz. It also says Hi-Res Lossless requires external equipment such as a USB DAC. That specification does not mean every song, device, connection, or listening setup will deliver that resolution. The listing says availability varies by country, region, plan, and device; lyric tools have the additional song, language, and script limits noted above. - Open Google Play and search for Apple Music. Confirm that the developer is Apple, or open the official Apple Music listing.
- Install the app or select its update option if one is available.
- Sign in with your Apple Account, then check the Library and lyrics controls for features available to your account and device.
- If you specifically want to test a beta, check the Play listing for a current “Join the beta” option. The 2025 report described beta enrollment, but that old path is not proof enrollment is still open.
If a feature is missing, first update the app through Google Play, restart it, and check that you are signed in to the intended account. A feature may also be rolling out gradually or limited by region, device, plan, language, or song. For lyric tools, confirm that the track has synchronized lyrics and that the specific language or script is supported. Do not sideload an untrusted APK to obtain a feature.
If a pinned item does not download, the beta report’s auto-download behavior may not apply to your build. Check whether the item is eligible for offline listening, whether the device has enough storage, and whether any download restrictions are blocking it; do not assume a current menu or setting exists based only on that report.

Is Apple Music a sensible choice on Android?
Apple Music is worth considering if its catalog and Apple content appeal to you, or if you want the combination of offline listening, Android Auto, Chromecast, lossless audio, Spatial Audio, and lyric tools advertised in the current listing. It may also suit listeners who use Apple devices alongside Android and value access to the same service across them.
It is a weaker fit if your main reason for switching is to get the iPhone app’s full iOS 26 look. The reported Android beta did not include Liquid Glass, and the available evidence does not establish that Android feature parity followed. Lyrics tools are selective, Hi-Res Lossless may require extra audio equipment, and moving an established playlist library can involve friction. Compare services around the playlists and recommendations you rely on, compatible playback gear, and support for the devices you actually use rather than assuming a feature or price advantage not documented here.
