The July 2026 offer has ended. The claim about two free Kindle e-books most likely referred to Amazon First Reads, a monthly selection for eligible Prime members—not Prime Reading or Kindle Unlimited. The exact July titles, book limit and deadline could not be confirmed from an accessible Amazon announcement, so it would be misleading to promise that every Prime member received two books or can still claim them.
Which Amazon program was the offer?
Amazon Prime includes several digital-reading benefits, but they work differently. A claim about choosing a limited number of books from a monthly selection most likely describes First Reads. Its offer can vary by month and marketplace; do not assume that two free selections are a standing monthly entitlement.
Prime Reading is a rotating catalog that Prime members can read at no additional charge. Amazon describes the titles as a selection members can download and read; access is not the same as buying a book for permanent retention. See Amazon’s Prime Reading documentation.
Kindle Unlimited is a separate subscription, not an automatic Prime benefit. It provides access to participating titles while the subscription and title availability continue. Amazon confirms that Prime membership is not required to subscribe to Kindle Unlimited in its Kindle Unlimited documentation.

Can you claim July’s books now?
July 2026 has passed, and there is no reliable confirmation here that the July selection remains redeemable on August 18, 2026. Monthly selections are time-limited and may be replaced. Check the current Amazon First Reads page while signed in to see what your account can claim now; do not assume that a current selection is the same as July’s.
A secondary article reported a two-book First Reads promotion in March 2026, but that does not establish July’s titles, allowance or deadline. Without an archived July Amazon page, a contemporaneous Amazon email or an account-specific offer, the precise July terms remain unverified.

How to redeem a current First Reads selection
- Sign in to the Amazon account associated with your active Prime membership.
- Open the First Reads page or follow its link from Amazon’s Prime or Kindle area.
- Review the titles offered for your marketplace and account.
- Open a title and select its Kindle edition, not a print or audio edition.
- Before checkout, confirm that the price is $0.00 or that the page clearly identifies the eligible free offer.
- Complete the digital checkout. If your account’s offer includes another selection, return to First Reads and repeat the steps for that title.
- Check your Kindle library or digital orders to make sure each title was added.
Browsing a product page or opening a sample does not necessarily redeem a book. The checkout price is the key safeguard: if it is not the expected promotional price, do not complete the order assuming Amazon will adjust it later.

- Check the marketplace: Amazon’s digital offers can differ by country. A U.S. offer should not be assumed to apply in the U.K., Canada, Australia or elsewhere.
- Check the account: Sign in to the account with the Prime membership and verify that the membership is active. Household or trial access can depend on account and offer rules.
- Choose the right edition: Make sure the Kindle edition—not paperback, hardcover or audiobook—is selected.
- Start from First Reads: A regular Kindle Store search result may show a normal price even when a separate promotional selection is available to an eligible account.
- Check timing and allowance: The monthly window may have closed, or the account may already have used its selections.
- Try a browser: If the offer does not display properly in the Amazon app, check the First Reads page in a desktop or mobile browser while signed in.
- Stop if the price remains wrong: If the page still shows a charge despite apparent eligibility, contact Amazon customer service rather than completing a paid checkout.
Do you keep a First Reads book?
First Reads and the reading catalogs should not be treated as interchangeable. A title successfully redeemed as a Kindle purchase is generally retained in the Amazon account library; confirm it appears in your library or digital orders. Prime Reading is rotating catalog access, and Kindle Unlimited access depends on the subscription and continued availability of the title. Do not assume that borrowing either catalog book gives you a permanent copy.

For the same reason, confirm that a First Reads title was actually redeemed as a purchase before relying on continued access, including if you are considering canceling Prime. The precise terms shown at checkout and in your account govern your transaction.
Do you need a Kindle device?
The offer is tied to an eligible Amazon account and Kindle-format book, not necessarily to owning a Kindle e-reader. Amazon’s Kindle apps and reading options may let you read on supported devices, but check current app availability and device support for your platform. A dedicated Kindle is optional for someone who is comfortable reading on a supported phone, tablet or computer.

What if you are outside the United States?
The offer discussed here is framed around the U.S. Amazon marketplace. First Reads selections, Prime benefits and eligibility can vary by territory and account. Use the Amazon marketplace where your membership and Kindle account are based, and trust the offer and price displayed there rather than assuming a U.S. promotion applies internationally.
If the July offer has ended
Check First Reads for the current monthly selection, or browse Prime Reading if you want rotating catalog access. A public library may also offer e-book borrowing through services compatible with your devices. Kindle Unlimited is another option for frequent readers who want its catalog, but it is a separate subscription—not a free Prime add-on and not a way to claim July’s expired selection.
