Taylor Swift tops Spotify’s global all-time artist ranking through April 2026; Bad Bunny led the platform’s latest completed annual ranking, Spotify Wrapped 2025. Those are different measures: one accumulates streams across an artist’s Spotify history, while the other counts listening during a single year. Here are both rankings, with their dates and geographies clearly separated.
Spotify’s 20 most-streamed artists ever
Spotify’s 20th-anniversary retrospective named the following artists in its global all-time ranking, based on streams through April 2026. Spotify published the order but did not provide a comparable all-time stream total for every artist in the list. See Spotify’s announcement.

This is Spotify’s global platform ranking, not a universal measure of fame, audience size, revenue, or critical standing. The order is a dated snapshot: new listening can change cumulative totals and, eventually, positions.
Why the all-time top five stand out
Taylor Swift is No. 1 on the all-time list. A plausible explanation is the scale and replay value of a catalog that has remained prominent across multiple eras, alongside renewed attention to older work through rerecording campaigns. Those are reasonable interpretations, not causes Spotify says it has established.

Bad Bunny is No. 2 all-time and No. 1 for 2025. His latest annual result reflects current listening, not just accumulated career plays: Spotify also named DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS its top global album of 2025. Spanish-language artists’ strong showing, including Bad Bunny and J Balvin in the all-time top 20, is one reminder that a global chart is not simply a U.S. chart.
Drake ranks third all-time, followed by The Weeknd at No. 4 and Ariana Grande at No. 5. Their presence near the top reflects sustained catalog listening at platform scale. The ranking itself does not reveal how much comes from individual hits, album tracks, collaborations, or particular markets.

The most recent completed annual list in Spotify’s published data is Wrapped 2025, released December 3, 2025. Bad Bunny led globally with 19.8 billion streams during the year. The global top 10 were:

All-time versus 2025: the same artists, a different order
This comparison places artists who appear in both published rankings side by side. The first column is Spotify’s all-time global rank through April 2026; the second is their global position during 2025.

The comparison illustrates the distinction between career accumulation and a strong year. Kendrick Lamar, for example, was No. 18 all-time but No. 6 in 2025. Bad Bunny’s annual win likewise does not make him the all-time leader; it means he generated the most streams among artists during that year.

Global and U.S. rankings are not interchangeable
Spotify’s 2025 U.S. top 10 was Taylor Swift, Drake, Morgan Wallen, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, SZA, Zach Bryan, Tyler, The Creator, and Kanye West—in that order. This differs from the global top 10, which included Arijit Singh and Fuerza Regida and did not include several U.S.-chart names.

Spotify described Bad Bunny’s 2025 result as his fourth global top-artist win, following 2020, 2021, and 2022. Taylor Swift led in 2023 and 2024. Spotify’s announcement covers Bad Bunny’s annual wins; its 2024 and 2023 Wrapped announcements document Swift’s wins.
Recent top spots have alternated between two artists, but that short run is not a prediction of future rankings. Annual results respond to listening in a specific year, and a major release can shift the picture. In 2024, Swift led with more than 26.6 billion global streams; in 2025, Bad Bunny led with 19.8 billion.

- Streams are plays, not unique listeners. One person replaying songs can generate many streams. The ranking does not tell you how many distinct people listened.
- Time favors accumulation. All-time totals build over an artist’s Spotify history, so established catalogs have had longer to collect plays than new ones. Annual charts remove much of that time advantage but can be strongly affected by releases and listening surges that year.
- Geography changes the result. Global, U.S., and other country rankings describe different listening pools.
- Do not assume a credits formula Spotify has not specified. Featured tracks, collaborations, remixes, alternate versions, and artist aliases can complicate third-party calculations. The safest reading of this table is as Spotify’s own ranking, not a do-it-yourself sum of every track credit.
- Streams are not earnings. A stream count does not translate into a fixed payment for an artist. Payments depend on factors including market, subscription type, rights ownership, and contractual arrangements.
- Streams are not a complete popularity score. They do not measure concert attendance, cultural influence, acclaim, or the size of a unique audience.
For the question “Who has the most streams on Spotify ever?”, the best-supported answer is Taylor Swift, according to Spotify’s global all-time list through April 2026. For “Who was No. 1 last year?”, the answer is Bad Bunny for 2025. The year and the scope matter as much as the name.
