Yes—F1 The Movie did pass the $300 million worldwide box-office milestone. The figure was an early forecast published on July 5, 2025, not the film’s final result. Apple later reported that the Brad Pitt-led racing movie had crossed $629 million globally.
The $300 million figure was a forecast, not the final total
The original headline referred to a projection that F1 The Movie would reach $300 million worldwide during the weekend of July 5, 2025. That estimate was ultimately correct, but it significantly understated the film’s eventual theatrical performance.

Apple later said the movie had passed $629 million at the global box office. That is a reported theatrical gross, not a statement of profit. Box-office revenue does not show how much Apple or its partners earned after cinemas, distribution, production and marketing costs.
How the film got there
- June 27, 2025: F1 The Movie opened worldwide in theaters and IMAX.
- Opening weekend: The film earned approximately $55.6 million in North America and $144 million worldwide, according to studio estimates reported by the Associated Press.
- July 5, 2025: The $300 million worldwide forecast was published.
- October 17, 2025: Apple reported that the film had crossed $629 million worldwide.
The opening figures made the $300 million milestone plausible, but the later total shows that the film maintained a much stronger theatrical run than the original checkpoint suggested.

What F1 The Movie is about
The Apple Original Films production stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the sport to help a struggling team. He becomes a mentor to Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, while Javier Bardem portrays team owner Ruben Cervantes and Kerry Condon plays Kate.
Joseph Kosinski directed the film. Warner Bros. Pictures handled its worldwide theatrical distribution, giving the project the scale of a major cinema release rather than a streaming-only debut.

Why the production stood out to Formula 1 fans
The filmmakers aimed to make the racing footage feel connected to the real sport. Formula1.com reported that production captured more than 185 hours of footage at actual Grands Prix and recorded more than 2,000 hours of Formula 1 broadcast footage for the movie.

When and where to watch it
After its theatrical run, Apple announced a premium video-on-demand and electronic-sell-through release for August 22, 2025. Physical home-video editions followed, including Blu-ray and DVD distribution through Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, with a 4K Ultra HD edition listed in some regional markets.
F1 The Movie became available for global streaming on Apple TV on December 12, 2025. Availability of physical editions and retail listings can vary by country, so viewers should check their local Apple TV or retailer listing.
