Not according to the latest U.S. availability listing found. Hulu announced The Ugly Truth as a March 1, 2025 addition, but a JustWatch U.S. check dated July 31, 2026 did not list the 2009 romantic comedy as included with Hulu or any free streaming service. It listed the film for digital rental or purchase instead.
This is a U.S.-specific answer, and streaming rights can change. Check Hulu directly before subscribing or renting.
What happened to The Ugly Truth on Hulu?
Hulu’s official March 2025 schedule listed both The Ugly Truth and The Ugly Truth En Español among its March 1 additions. That announcement confirms the film was scheduled for Hulu at that time, but it does not guarantee that it remains in the catalog.
The latest U.S. availability snapshot found, checked July 31, 2026, did not show Hulu among the subscription options. The available evidence does not establish when or why the title may have left Hulu, so it is more accurate to say that it was not listed in that later check than to claim a confirmed removal date.

Where to watch The Ugly Truth in the U.S.
The latest listing found showed the film as available to rent or buy digitally through:
JustWatch showed an observed rental price of $3.99 on those digital stores in its July 31 snapshot. Prices can vary by platform, resolution, taxes, promotions, and account location. A store listing is not itself the playback service, so open the relevant Apple, Amazon, or Fandango page to confirm the current price and availability.

No free streaming option was listed in that snapshot. That does not mean the movie can never become free or ad-supported; it means no such option was shown at the time of the check.

What is The Ugly Truth about?
In this romantic comedy, a romantically challenged morning-show producer becomes involved in outrageous relationship tests proposed by a chauvinistic correspondent. Their professional arrangement becomes increasingly complicated as personal feelings enter the picture. The film’s mature humor and R rating make it unsuitable to assume it is family-friendly.

Should you subscribe to Hulu just to watch it?
No—not based on the latest evidence. If you only want to watch The Ugly Truth once, a digital rental is likely more direct and economical than starting a monthly subscription. Buying makes more sense for viewers who expect to watch it repeatedly or want access through a particular digital store, although a digital purchase is a license tied to that service rather than a physical copy.
Hulu may still be worthwhile for its broader catalog. Its romance page displayed plans starting at $11.99 per month, with a Disney+/Hulu bundle shown from $12.99 when crawled; those prices are date-sensitive and may change. Do not treat Hulu + Live TV as a workaround: a live-TV subscription does not guarantee access to every on-demand movie, and it should not be presented as including this title when the movie is absent from Hulu’s current library.

If Hulu search shows the movie but playback fails
- Search for The Ugly Truth and confirm the year is 2009.
- Check that Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl appear in the cast.
- Open the title page and look for a playable Watch button.
- If you see only a trailer, a watchlist option, or an unavailable notice, treat the film as unavailable through your Hulu plan.
- Check a current U.S. streaming guide and the official Apple or Prime Video listing.
A stale search result, a trailer or recommendation page, a partner add-on, a different country catalog, or cached app metadata can all create the appearance that a title is available when it is not playable under a standard U.S. Hulu subscription.
Does availability differ outside the United States?
Yes. Film rights are country-specific. The available Canada listing showed different services, while the India listing showed Netflix availability. Those examples should not be imported into a U.S. answer. Search the catalog and streaming guide for your own country before paying for a service.
