Short answer: Yes, the Apple TV+ promotion was genuine—but it is no longer available. The offer gave eligible U.S. customers three months for $2.99 per month, with a stated end date of April 24, 2025. It should not be treated as a current discount.
Apple’s service is now branded simply as Apple TV. In the latest supplied check of Apple’s U.S. pricing page, the regular rate was listed as $12.99 per month after a seven-day free trial.
What the original Apple TV+ deal offered
MacRumors reported the promotion on April 18, 2025. Eligible new and qualified returning U.S. subscribers could subscribe to Apple TV+ for $2.99 per month for three months. The promotion was advertised through the Apple TV app and at tv.apple.com.
The terms listed the subscription’s regular renewal price at the time as $9.99 per month. Unless canceled, the subscription automatically renewed at that rate after the promotional period. The promotion expired on April 24, 2025.

How much money did the deal save?
Using the prices listed in the 2025 offer:

Those figures describe the historical promotion only. The $9.99 rate is not Apple’s current standard price.
Who was eligible?
The promotion was aimed at new subscribers and qualified returning subscribers. It was not automatically available to everyone who opened the Apple TV app.
Potential exclusions included:
- People with an active Apple TV subscription
- Accounts that had already used a qualifying Apple TV trial or promotion
- Users already eligible for another three-month offer
- Subscriptions billed through a wireless carrier or another third party
Eligibility was tied to the Apple Account and billing channel. If an account displayed only the normal subscription price, that did not necessarily mean the promotion was fraudulent; the account may simply not have qualified.
Why the old “until next week” wording is misleading now
“Until next week” was date-specific language written when the original article was published on April 18, 2025. The deadline was April 24, 2025. More than a year has passed since then, so the promotion is expired and there is no legitimate way to redeem that particular $2.99 offer.

What Apple TV costs now
Apple’s current U.S. pages use the name Apple TV rather than Apple TV+. The latest supplied check of Apple’s U.S. page, dated August 18, 2026, listed the service at $12.99 per month after a seven-day free trial. Pricing, trials and availability can vary by country, account and offer, so confirm the amount shown at checkout.

The subscription provides access to Apple’s original shows and films, along with content Apple specifically makes available through the service. It does not automatically include every title visible in the Apple TV app.
The app can also display third-party subscription services, films and shows available to rent or buy, and other separately billed channels. Apple’s subscription information warns that those third-party services and separately purchased or rented titles are not included in the Apple TV subscription.
How to check for a replacement promotion
Because the 2025 deal has ended, do not follow an old “redeem now” link expecting to receive it. For any future Apple TV promotion, use this checklist:

- Sign in with the Apple Account you intend to use.
- Check the displayed promotional price, duration and expiration date.
- Read the renewal price before confirming.
- Verify that billing is directly through Apple if the offer requires it.
- Check whether the account already has a subscription, previous trial, carrier billing or another promotional entitlement.
Apple also recommends checking apple.com/promo and reviewing the individual offer terms. Do not create duplicate subscriptions through Apple, a carrier, Amazon or another billing provider.
How to avoid an unwanted renewal
The $2.99 rate was introductory, not permanent. For similar offers, record the renewal date and price when subscribing. Apple’s media-services terms advise canceling at least 24 hours before a free trial ends to avoid being charged; promotional offers have their own conditions as well. Cancellation and access timing can depend on the subscription and billing arrangement, so check the cancellation confirmation rather than assuming access will end immediately.

Apple One
Apple One bundles Apple TV with other Apple services. It may make sense for people who already pay separately for Apple Music, iCloud storage or Apple Arcade. It is usually a poor fit if Apple TV is the only service wanted.
Apple Music Student Plan
Apple says its eligible student plan includes access to Apple TV. This requires student verification and is not a general discount available to everyone. Check the current terms at Apple Music.

Trial with eligible Apple hardware
Apple says purchasers of qualifying Apple hardware may receive three months or another complimentary Apple TV offer, subject to purchase, redemption and eligibility deadlines. Check the offer attached to the device and redeem it before the stated deadline.
Apple TV and Peacock Premium Plus bundle
Apple’s U.S. offer page has displayed an Apple TV and Peacock Premium Plus bundle for $19.99 per month, described as including ad-free Peacock Premium Plus. Verify the live checkout price, taxes, eligibility and cancellation terms at Apple’s offer page. The bundle is not good value for someone who wants Apple TV alone.
Is Apple TV worth paying for?
Apple TV is most compelling when you want Apple Originals, need a short-term subscription for a particular show or film, or can use a qualifying trial, student plan or bundle. It is less suitable if you want a broad catalog of licensed third-party content or a permanent discount.
Readers who already pay for several Apple services should compare Apple One with separate subscriptions. Students should check their verified plan first, while recent Apple-device buyers should look for an unredeemed hardware offer.
Bottom line
