Netflix’s first daily interactive trivia series was Trivia Quest, announced on March 3, 2022, and launched on April 1, 2022. It was a completed 30-episode animated quiz experience—not an upcoming August 2026 release. Netflix described it as an interactive series based on etermax’s Trivia Crack franchise.
What was Trivia Quest?
Trivia Quest combined an animated rescue story with playable multiple-choice questions. Players helped Willy, the hero of Trivia Land, rescue its citizens from Rocky, a villain trying to hoard the world’s knowledge.
Netflix called it its first daily interactive trivia series. That wording matters: Netflix had already released interactive specials such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, and You vs. Wild. Trivia Quest was not Netflix’s first interactive title overall.

Netflix announced Trivia Quest on March 3, 2022. The first episode arrived on April 1, 2022, followed by one new episode each day throughout April. The planned and released season contained 30 episodes.

“Daily” referred to the release schedule, not a live broadcast. Viewers played prewritten quizzes through Netflix’s interactive interface.
How the quiz worked
Each episode contained 24 four-choice questions:
- 12 standard questions
- 12 hard questions
The questions covered science, history, entertainment, sports, art, and geography. Players selected an answer from four options, with correct responses contributing to their score and progress through the rescue mission.
The interaction was closer to a playable quiz campaign than to a branching drama. Answers affected points and progression, while the animated story supplied continuity and motivation.

Replay, points, and story rewards
Episodes could be replayed. Players could revisit quizzes to correct missed answers, improve their results, and collect more points. Progress also unlocked story milestones, including the release of captured characters and exclusive animations inspired by Netflix favorites.
Netflix said the experience had a definitive ending, although its launch announcement did not describe the ending in detail.

This was launch-era device information, not a guarantee that every model, operating-system version, or Netflix app offered the same interface. The available sources also do not establish whether every episode remains playable in every market in 2026. Readers should check Netflix directly for current catalog availability.
Was it a traditional quiz show?
Not really. Calling Trivia Quest a quiz show is understandable, but it was not a conventional studio competition with a host, contestants, a live audience, or a cash jackpot. Its format was an animated interactive series built around answering questions and advancing through a story.
The launch coverage identified points, progression, and animations as rewards—not real-world cash prizes. This distinguishes it from later Netflix game-show-like offerings such as Best Guess Live, which Netflix describes separately as a live game with the possibility of real-money prizes.

Why Netflix tried the format
Trivia Quest brought together four elements of Netflix’s interactive strategy:
- A daily habit: Releasing one episode per day encouraged viewers to return throughout April.
- Game-like progression: Scores, replays, milestones, and unlockable animations gave the quizzes a purpose beyond answering isolated questions.
- Recognizable trivia mechanics: The series was based on etermax’s established Trivia Crack franchise, while remaining a separate Netflix experience.
- Broad device access: Unlike a mobile-only game, Netflix announced support across TVs, consoles, browsers, and mobile devices.
The project therefore functioned as more than a one-off interactive special. It tested whether Netflix could turn interactive video into a recurring engagement loop, combining scheduled content with game mechanics. Contemporary coverage characterized it as an experiment rather than a guaranteed long-running franchise.

Earlier Netflix interactive titles generally emphasized narrative choices: viewers selected what a character would do next, producing different story paths. Trivia Quest used interaction primarily for knowledge testing. The central decisions were which answer to select, whether to replay a quiz, and how to improve a score.

That made it more comparable to a daily puzzle or trivia app than to a choose-your-own-adventure film, even though its animated rescue plot gave the experience a serialized frame.
The bottom line
