There is no single nationwide CW channel on DIRECTV. The CW is carried through local affiliate stations, so its channel number depends on your service address and market. The fastest way to find it is to use DIRECTV’s official Channel Lineup tool, enter your ZIP code and county, and search for CW.
How to find The CW on DIRECTV
- Open DIRECTV’s Channel Lineup page.
- Select the service view that applies to you, such as Signature Packages or Genre Packs. DIRECTV separates streaming, satellite, and other lineup views, so choose the correct service before searching.
- Under Showing channels for, enter your ZIP Code.
- Select your county, then click Update location. The page should display Update Successful.
- Use Search for Channels and search for CW.
You can also change Sort by to A-Z, Channel Number, or Category. If you need to start over, use Reset Search.
Why the channel number varies
The CW is a nationally broadcast network distributed through local affiliates, rather than a conventional national cable channel with one fixed DIRECTV slot. DIRECTV assigns the local affiliate’s listing according to the customer’s billing market. As a result, a number that works in one city may be wrong in another.
For example, DIRECTV lists market-specific CW affiliates including:

These examples are not a nationwide channel list. Affiliate assignments and channel numbers can change, so the ZIP-code lookup is more reliable than a general city chart. DIRECTV says viewers whose exact city is not listed will most likely use the affiliate assigned to the nearest listed area, but the official lookup for the billing address remains the authoritative check. What package do you need?
DIRECTV states that local CW programming is available with the CHOICE™ Package or above, subject to local-channel availability. A qualifying package does not guarantee that every customer will receive a CW affiliate: local stations may be unavailable in some areas because of the service address, market, or local carriage availability.

If the lineup tool shows no CW affiliate, confirm that you selected the correct service type and billing location. If the result is still missing, your area may not have local CW carriage through DIRECTV.

The number shown by an antenna or another television service may not match the DIRECTV listing. DIRECTV uses the channel assignment for the local affiliate in its lineup, not necessarily the station’s over-the-air subchannel number. The number can also change if the local affiliate serving the market changes.

Can you search for CW on your receiver or app?
Yes. Open the channel guide on your DIRECTV receiver or app and search for CW, if your version provides guide search. There is no documented universal numeric shortcut or special remote text command that works nationwide. If the guide search does not return a result, use DIRECTV’s online lineup tool to verify the selected location, service, package, and local-channel availability.

- Wrong channel number: Recheck the ZIP code and county in the official lineup tool.
- No CW result: Make sure you selected the correct view for streaming, satellite, Signature Packages, or Genre Packs.
- Package appears eligible but CW is missing: Local-channel availability may be limited at your address.
- Antenna number does not match: Search the DIRECTV guide rather than relying on the over-the-air channel.
- You recently moved: Update or verify the service location; DIRECTV’s local lineup is based on the billing market.
Because DIRECTV’s lineup data is location-dependent and programming assignments can change, check the official lineup page whenever you need the current channel for your address.
