No—not officially. As of August 18, 2026, Disney+ does not support downloading movies or shows directly to a laptop or other computer for offline playback. You can stream Disney+ on a Windows laptop or MacBook, but Disney’s official download feature is limited to supported mobile devices.
That distinction matters: installing the Disney+ app on Windows gives you a way to stream, not a documented way to save films for an offline flight or trip.

Windows 10 and 11
Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers support Disney+. You can install the official app through the Microsoft Store:

- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for the official Disney+ app.
- Install it and sign in.
- Choose a movie or show and stream it.
These steps provide laptop streaming only. The Windows app does not turn a computer into an approved offline-download device. Disney’s Windows guidance is available here.
MacBook
On a MacBook, use Disney+ through a supported web browser for streaming. Disney’s official download instructions do not provide a macOS or laptop workflow for offline viewing. Do not assume that a browser download button, cached playback, or a Mac-compatible app creates an official offline copy.

The official way to download a Disney+ movie
To watch offline, use a supported mobile device such as an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, Amazon Fire tablet, Apple Vision Pro, or Meta Quest. The download stays managed by the Disney+ app on the device where it was created.
- Open the Disney+ app and sign in.
- Find and select the movie.
- Tap Download, below the play button.
- Wait until the download finishes. A device icon with a check mark indicates completion.
- Open the Downloads section and press play when offline.
For a series, open the individual episode page and select the Download control for each episode you want. Not every title is available for download.
Which devices support downloads?
Disney’s US download documentation lists these supported categories:
- iPhone
- iPad
- Apple Vision Pro
- Android phones and tablets
- Amazon Fire tablets
- Meta Quest
Computers, TV-connected devices, and Windows 10/11 tablets may support streaming but are excluded from downloads in the cited US guidance. Availability can differ by territory, so readers outside the United States should check their local Disney+ Help Center.

Subscription requirements
Download eligibility depends partly on the subscription plan and market. In the United States, Disney’s current guidance lists Disney+ Premium, Disney+ and Hulu Bundle Premium, Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Bundle Premium, and Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select Bundle Legacy as eligible categories. Disney also says ad-supported plans and certain lower-tier bundles may not allow downloads.
Plan names and bundle rules vary by country and can change. Check the download terms shown for your local Disney+ subscription before upgrading. An eligible plan may enable downloads on a phone or tablet, but it still does not enable direct laptop downloads. Upgrading solely for offline laptop viewing will not solve the device restriction.
Download limits, storage, and expiration
Up to 10 supported devices
Eligible users can store downloads on up to 10 supported mobile devices, subject to available storage. Downloads are tied to the device on which they were made; they cannot be copied to a laptop as ordinary movie files.
Reconnect at least once every 30 days
Disney’s US troubleshooting guidance says downloads are generally available offline for up to 30 days from the download date, unless the title leaves the streaming library sooner. The device must also reconnect to the internet at least once every 30 days so Disney+ can verify the account and download status.

- The title expires or leaves Disney+.
- You log out of the app.
- You cancel the subscription.
- You change to a plan that does not support downloads.
Logging out removes downloads from the device, so they must be downloaded again after signing in.
Change download quality
On a supported mobile device, open Disney+, tap the profile icon, choose App Settings, and look for Video Quality or Download Quality. Available choices may include Standard, Medium, and High; labels can vary by app version or region.
Standard uses the least storage and usually downloads fastest. High uses more storage and takes longer. Check free space in App Settings before downloading several films.

How to watch downloads offline
- Open the Disney+ app on the same phone, tablet, headset, or other supported device used for the download.
- Select the Downloads icon.
- Choose the downloaded movie and press play.
- For a series, select the series and then the downloaded episode.
These are app-managed downloads, not standard video files. They cannot be opened in VLC, moved through a file manager, copied to a laptop, or transferred from an iPad to a computer using a cable.

Troubleshooting Disney+ downloads
There is no Download button
- Confirm that you are using a supported mobile device—not a laptop, desktop, TV, or Windows tablet.
- Check whether your subscription plan permits downloads.
- Try another title; some movies and episodes are not downloadable.
- Confirm that the device has enough free storage.
- Update the Disney+ app.
- Force-close and reopen the app, then restart the device if necessary.
The download is stuck or fails
Check the Wi-Fi connection and available storage first. Then update or restart the app and device. If the problem affects only one title, delete that partial download and try downloading it again. Disney’s download troubleshooting guidance is available here.
A download disappeared
Check whether you logged out, missed the 30-day internet reconnection requirement, lost access to the title, canceled the subscription, or changed to an ineligible plan. Any of these can remove or invalidate downloads.
The download will not play offline
Reconnect the device to the internet, open Disney+, and leave the app signed in long enough to verify the account. Also check that the title has not expired and that your plan still includes downloads.
What if you need a larger screen while traveling?
If offline viewing is the priority, download the movie to a supported tablet before leaving reliable Wi-Fi and confirm that it appears in the Downloads tab. A tablet can provide a larger portable screen than a phone.

Disney’s official download documentation does not establish a method for using HDMI, casting, AirPlay, or a Windows app to turn a mobile download into offline laptop playback. If you specifically need to watch on a laptop, the official options are limited to streaming while connected to the internet.

They may create account-security risks, install unwanted software, fail when DRM or browser protections change, or produce files that do not play correctly. Their legality depends on the jurisdiction, the way the tool is used, copyright rules, and applicable Disney+ terms; it is not accurate to label every such tool illegal in every situation.

Do not provide your Disney+ credentials to an unverified downloader, and do not treat an advertised “Disney+ laptop download” as an official feature. The current Disney documentation supports app-managed downloads on eligible mobile devices—not transferable movie files for computers.
