Short answer: MLB.TV was MLB’s out-of-market streaming package in the United States for the 2026 season. The March 2026 list price was $149.99 for the season or $29.99 per month. It was a strong option for fans who followed teams outside their local market, but it was not a dependable way to watch a hometown team because local and national blackouts still applied.
New U.S. subscribers purchased through ESPN’s flow, but ESPN Unlimited was not a permanent requirement: the included one-month trial could be canceled separately while MLB.TV remained active. Before subscribing, check your ZIP code and team restrictions at the official MLB.TV page.

MLB.TV pricing in March 2026
The following were the listed prices reported in March 2026. MLB changes prices during the season, so later promotions should not be confused with the March launch price.

Five monthly payments cost $149.95, essentially the same as the seasonal list price. Six payments cost $179.94, making the seasonal plan cheaper for anyone expecting to watch five or more months at the March rate. Promotions, taxes, and in-season pricing can change that calculation.

Seasonal subscriptions automatically renew around March 1 at the then-current price unless canceled. Monthly subscriptions generally bill through October and may resume around March 1. Uninstalling an app does not cancel either plan.
What MLB.TV includes
MLB.TV primarily provides live and on-demand regular-season games outside the viewer’s blackout territory. Depending on rights and device eligibility, the package also included:
- Home and away broadcast feeds for available games.
- Select Spring Training games, generally without the normal regular-season blackout restrictions.
- On-demand replays and archived games.
- Live Minor League Baseball games.
- Live audio for all 30 MLB teams.
- MLB Big Inning, a whip-around program with live look-ins and highlights.
- Select 2026 postseason games and the 96th All-Star Game through the MLB App, subject to rights and device restrictions.
- Advertised features such as select 1080p streams, multiview, clickable linescores, enhanced real-time data, and in-game scoreboards.

MLB Network access is plan-specific
For qualifying U.S. subscribers, MLB Network was a major part of the 2026 value proposition.
- Seasonal subscribers: MLB Network access through the MLB App for the season and offseason.
- Monthly subscribers: MLB Network access through the end of October.
- T-Mobile subscribers: MLB.TV obtained through the T-Mobile benefit did not include MLB Network, according to ESPN’s FAQ.
MLB Network programming included shows such as MLB Tonight, MLB Central, Intentional Talk, and MLB Now. MLB Network access should not be assumed to be available in every ESPN viewing environment; the MLB App remained important for this content.

The ESPN relationship explained
The 2026 arrangement was confusing because purchase, billing, and viewing could involve both ESPN and MLB.
New U.S. subscribers
New customers generally used ESPN’s MLB.TV checkout flow. The purchase included a one-month ESPN Unlimited trial. You could cancel ESPN Unlimited after signing up without canceling the separate MLB.TV entitlement.

Existing subscribers continued to be billed through MLB and could watch through the MLB App. They could link their accounts to use the ESPN App as well.
Existing ESPN Unlimited subscribers
Existing ESPN Unlimited customers could purchase the discounted $134.99 seasonal MLB.TV add-on.
T-Mobile customers
Eligible T-Mobile customers first had to redeem MLB.TV through T-Mobile’s instructions. They could then link MLB and ESPN accounts for ESPN access, but the T-Mobile version did not include MLB Network.
Some ESPN language described ESPN Unlimited as required for the purchase route, while MLB’s instructions said it could be canceled after the trial. The practical distinction is simple: ESPN Unlimited could be part of the initial checkout or app-access route, but it was not a permanent subscription requirement for retaining MLB.TV.
Blackouts: check before you buy
MLB.TV is not an “every game everywhere” service. A team may be blacked out when you are inside its home television territory, whether that team is playing at home or away. Home territories can extend well beyond a single city or state.
National exclusivity can also remove a game from MLB.TV. Games carried under arrangements involving ESPN, FOX, TBS, Apple TV, Peacock, NBC, or another national broadcaster may require that broadcaster instead. A game can therefore be unavailable on MLB.TV even when it is not visible on your preferred local channel.
Use MLB’s ZIP-code blackout checker and current restricted-game list before paying. Do not rely on a general assumption about what counts as your local market.
- Traveling can change which games are blacked out because restrictions follow your viewing location.
- Blackout checks may use IP address and other location signals.
- Archives are generally available 90 minutes after a game ends, even when live video is restricted.
- Live audio remains available for unavailable games through the included MLB+ features.
- A VPN is not a dependable or recommended blackout solution and may violate service terms or trigger location verification.
MLB.TV versus local-team streaming

MLB.TV is best for out-of-market breadth. A local-team package is usually more appropriate for in-market video of one club, where available. MLB’s official package directory lists available MLB.TV, MLB+, and local options.

MLB.TV, MLB+, and ESPN Unlimited are different products
MLB.TV is the broad out-of-market live-video package, subject to blackouts and national rights.
MLB+ is a lower-cost option for fans who prioritize live audio, MLB Network in the U.S., live Minor League Baseball, Big Inning, Gameday 3D, and selected programming. It is not a replacement for full live video of every regular-season game.
ESPN Unlimited is ESPN’s broader sports subscription. It may be used in the MLB.TV purchase flow and can provide additional ESPN programming, but canceling it does not automatically cancel MLB.TV.

Watching and purchasing are not always the same. If the TV app does not show a purchase option, buy through the web and then sign in on the supported device.

New subscriber activation
- Open the official ESPN MLB.TV page or MLB purchase page.
- Select Seasonal or Monthly and complete the ESPN billing flow.
- Review the ESPN Unlimited trial and its renewal settings.
- In ESPN Account Management, open Your Other Services and choose the MLB.TV activation option.
- Create or link your MLB account.
- Install both the ESPN App and MLB App, then sign in with the linked accounts.
Existing MLB.TV subscriber activation
- Sign in at MLB.com or in the MLB App.
- Open MLB Account Management from the profile menu.
- Choose the option to activate MLB.TV on ESPN.
- Follow the prompts to link the MLB account with the MyDisney/ESPN account.
- Sign in to both apps using the linked accounts.
Link accounts before Opening Day rather than during a live game. If playback works in the MLB App but not ESPN, account linking is the first thing to check.
Billing, cancellation, and common problems
“My hometown team is blocked.”
This is usually a territory restriction, not a defective subscription. Check the official ZIP-code tool and consider the team’s local streaming package.
“I canceled ESPN Unlimited and lost ESPN.”
That is expected. Canceling ESPN Unlimited ends ESPN access according to its trial or billing terms, but should leave a separately retained MLB.TV subscription active.
“I cannot buy MLB.TV on my television.”
Purchase on the official website, then sign in through the TV app.
“I was charged again next season.”
MLB subscriptions can renew around March 1. Cancel future renewal in the account that bills you; deleting the app is not enough. There is no pause option.
“I saw a much lower price than $149.99.”
MLB uses in-season and remainder-of-season promotions. The $149.99 figure is the March 2026 listed seasonal price, while later official pages displayed different promotional figures. Always check the date and terms attached to the offer.
Who should buy MLB.TV?
- Buy the seasonal plan if you live outside your teams’ home markets and expect to watch throughout the season.
- Choose monthly if you need only a short stretch of games or want to test the service.
- Check local streaming first if you live in a team’s home territory and primarily want that club.
- Consider MLB+ if audio, MLB Network, MiLB, and supplementary coverage matter more than live video.
- Check T-Mobile eligibility if you qualify for a time-limited free MLB.TV promotion, while remembering that the benefit may exclude MLB Network.
- Use the international product if you watch outside the United States; rights and blackouts differ by country. See MLB’s international information.
The central buying rule is straightforward: choose MLB.TV for out-of-market breadth, a local-team product for in-market video, and MLB+ for audio and supplementary coverage.
