Disney+’s U.S. May 2025 lineup combines major franchise releases with a particularly useful documentary and family slate. The priorities are Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on May 1, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld on May 4, the concluding episodes of Andor Season 2, weekly Doctor Who, and Stanley Tucci’s food-and-travel series Tucci in Italy. Documentary viewers also get Genghis Khan: The Secret History of the Mongols and new seasons of several History titles.
This is the announced U.S. schedule. Disney+ release dates and catalogs can differ by country, and availability may change. The month also mixes Disney+ premieres, licensed catalog additions, returning series, short-form collections, and attraction specials—so not every title below is a Disney+ original.

The five best Disney+ releases in May 2025
1. Andor Season 2 finale — May 6 and May 13
The month’s most important serialized release is the conclusion of Andor. Episodes 7–9 arrive together on May 6, followed by Episodes 10–12 on May 13. The second season is also the series finale, bringing Cassian Andor’s story closer to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Best for: Star Wars viewers who want political drama, espionage, rebellion, and mature storytelling.
Format: Two three-episode batches.
Prior viewing: Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 are essential.
#1 Best Overall
- Join Alice as she falls into the madcap world of Wonderland and meets extraordinary characters including Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and the frantically late White Rabbit.
2. Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld — May 4
This six-episode animated anthology follows two morally complicated Star Wars characters: former assassin Asajj Ventress and bounty hunter Cad Bane. It belongs to the same animated “Tales” line as Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, and its May 4 launch makes it the centerpiece of Disney+’s Star Wars Day programming.
Best for: Star Wars fans, animation viewers, and anyone who prefers a complete story drop.
Format: All six episodes released together.
Prior viewing: Familiarity with Ventress and Cad Bane adds context, but the anthology remains approachable for casual viewers.
3. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — May 1
The animated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse makes its Disney+ streaming debut on May 1. Miles Morales is pulled into a larger multiverse conflict involving numerous Spider-People, making this a strong choice for a family movie night as well as a major superhero-film addition.

- When Cinderella's cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, she gets some unexpected help from the lovable mice Gus and Jaq, and from her Fairy Godmother.
This is a catalog streaming addition, not a Disney+ original. Watch Into the Spider-Verse first for the fullest emotional and story context.
Best for: Movie night and animation fans.
Format: One feature film.
4. Doctor Who Season 2 — Saturdays in May
The second season continues with weekly episodes on May 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31. May 31 brings the season finale. Unlike Andor and Tales of the Underworld, this is an appointment-viewing release rather than a binge drop.
Rank #3
- A cute, classy "Lady" cocker spaniel escapes from her confining owner and falls for an alley dog, known as the "Tramp", who rescues her from some mean dogs out on the streets.
Best for: Science-fiction fans who enjoy weekly speculation and discussion.
Format: One new episode each Saturday.
Prior viewing: The preceding episodes of the current season are recommended. The safest listing for May 31 is “season finale”; episode-number labels vary between secondary listings.

Best for: Documentary, food, and travel audiences.
Format: Full-season drop.

What to know before planning your month
Not every title is exclusive. The May schedule combines originals, Disney Branded Television shows, licensed programming, catalog additions, documentaries, shorts, and attraction videos. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, in particular, should be described as a film arriving on Disney+, not as a Disney+ original.

- Walt Disney Animation Studios? animated musical reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After hearing from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey into long-lost waters for an adventure. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
The schedule is U.S.-specific. Disney+ catalogs vary internationally, especially for Doctor Who, History and National Geographic programming, WWE titles, documentaries, and films with market-specific rights.
Release timing is not always universal. Titles generally appear at the platform’s scheduled release time, but exact clock times can display differently depending on location and device. Check the title page in Disney+ if a release does not appear immediately.
Some metadata is inconsistent. Secondary listings differ on how the final Doctor Who episode is numbered, so “Season 2 finale” is the safest description. The WWE Rivals listing also contains conflicting season references; the title is included here without treating those season labels as settled.
Planning to watch Andor, Tales of the Underworld, or Doctor Who? Check Disney+’s current subscription and bundle options before subscribing. Prices, plans, advertising, bundles, and eligibility can change by country.
