There may be no technical fix for the original Aniwatch service. Aniwatch followed Zoro.to and was later rebranded as HiAnime in March 2024. HiAnime displayed a farewell message on March 13, 2026, and later community notices indicated that the operation had ceased. You can still perform a few browser and network checks, but a domain that responds is not necessarily a functioning or authentic streaming service.
Is Aniwatch.to down for everyone?
Third-party status checkers have produced conflicting results for aniwatch.to: some report downtime or an HTTP 404, while others detect DNS records, SSL, or an HTTP response. These results are not necessarily contradictory.
A status tool may test only whether a domain resolves or a web server answers. That does not prove that the original service’s search, accounts, watchlists, episode data, video sources, or subtitles still work. Conversely, one timeout from a monitoring location does not prove that every network sees the same result.

- Open the bare domain in a private or incognito window.
- Try a second browser.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- Check the homepage, search, login, episode list, and player separately.
- Use an uptime checker only as supporting evidence, not as proof that an official service has returned.
If the same failure appears across browsers, devices, and networks, treat it as a service-side failure, domain problem, network block, or likely permanent closure. Repeating cache and DNS fixes will not restore a missing backend.

For context, monitors such as NotOpening, Is It Down or Just Me, DownOrNot, and UpdownRadar measure different things and locations.
Quick fixes worth trying once
These steps can identify a local browser or network problem. They cannot revive a discontinued service.
Hard-refresh the page
- Windows or Linux: press
Ctrl + F5. - macOS: press
Command + Shift + R.
Close duplicate tabs, then manually enter the address again. Avoid following unexpected redirects.
Try a private window and another browser
A private window temporarily avoids many stored cookies and extensions. If the page works there, an old session, corrupted site data, or an extension may be involved.
Clear only Aniwatch’s stored data
In your browser, open Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and site data or Browsing data. Search for aniwatch.to and remove that site’s data, then restart the browser. This can erase local preferences and saved login state; it will not restore a shut-down server.

Temporarily test without extensions
Disable ad-blocking or script-blocking extensions one at a time, or test in a private window. You can also temporarily allow JavaScript if your browser blocks it. Do not install an unknown “Aniwatch fix,” codec, player, extension, or APK.
Test another connection
Switch from home Wi-Fi to cellular data. If every device fails on Wi-Fi, restart the router and check local security, parental-control, or ISP filtering. If the site fails on both Wi-Fi and cellular data, the problem is unlikely to be confined to your home network.

Flush Windows DNS
If the domain recently changed, stale local DNS information can sometimes cause a connection problem. Open Command Prompt and run:
ipconfig /flushdnsThen close and reopen the browser. This clears Windows’ local DNS resolver cache; it cannot fix an expired domain, deleted server, missing video host, or service shutdown. Generic troubleshooting guidance is also described by NotOpening.
If the page loads but videos do not play
A homepage that opens does not prove that playback is working. The page may load while an embedded video provider, subtitle service, or episode database fails.

Common symptoms include an endless spinner, a blank player, “video source not found,” HTTP 403 or 404 errors, missing subtitles, repeated redirects, or messages such as “Megacloud refused to connect.” Community reports mention player and subtitle problems, but they are anecdotal rather than official technical diagnoses.
Try these safe checks:
- Test another episode and another title.
- Try a different browser.
- Clear the site’s stored data.
- Temporarily disable one content-blocking extension.
- Compare Wi-Fi with cellular data.
Never install a “player update,” browser extension, codec, or APK offered by a pop-up. Do not enter payment details or your old account password into a replacement player page.
What happened to Aniwatch.to?
Aniwatch was reported as the successor to Zoro.to in 2023. In March 2024, the service was reported to have rebranded again as HiAnime. Industry coverage described it as an unauthorized streaming platform, not an official anime distributor.
On March 13, 2026, HiAnime’s main domains displayed a farewell message. Early reactions questioned what the message meant, but later community announcements said the operation had ceased. The available evidence supports treating the original service as ended, while avoiding the stronger claim that an independently audited operator statement confirmed every detail of the shutdown.

Be careful with “new Aniwatch” and HiAnime domains
A working page, familiar logo, or responding domain does not prove continuity of ownership. Similarly named domains—including domains with a different top-level domain—may be unrelated, cloned, unsafe, or simply abandoned.
Stop and leave if a site:
- asks for your old Aniwatch password again;
- claims your account will be deleted unless you log in;
- asks you to install an extension, APK, “HD player,” or browser update;
- creates aggressive redirects to gambling, adult, crypto, or download pages;
- requests payment information;
- claims to be an official mirror without a verifiable first-party announcement.
Community notices have warned about unofficial lookalikes, but those notices are not independently verified operator documentation. Do not rely on a forum post alone to establish that a domain is official. The safest approach is not to publish or trust a supposed replacement domain unless ownership is confirmed through a genuinely authoritative first-party channel.
What if you entered your password on a clone?
- Change that password immediately on the legitimate service where you reused it.
- Change it anywhere else that used the same or a similar password.
- Enable multifactor authentication where available.
- Remove suspicious browser extensions and run your operating system’s built-in security scan.
- Review email, streaming, and payment accounts for unusual activity.
- Clear browser notification permissions and the suspicious site’s stored data.
- Do not revisit the page simply to test whether it is safe.
Should you use a VPN or alternate DNS?
A VPN or alternate DNS can help diagnose an ISP or regional access problem. Neither can restore a shut-down service, deleted database, expired domain, or unavailable video host. A VPN may also introduce privacy, performance, legal, or terms-of-service considerations.
If a VPN makes the page load, that shows only that routing or regional access changed. It does not prove that the site is legitimate, safe, or operated by the original Aniwatch team. Do not use a VPN as a reason to trust an unverified mirror.

If you simply want to watch anime, check licensed services available in your country, including Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and official broadcaster or distributor platforms.

No single service carries every title everywhere. Catalogs depend on territorial licensing, and subtitle and dub availability can differ. Crunchyroll explains that its availability is region-specific in its regional catalog help article. Search the specific anime on legitimate services available in your country rather than assuming that a particular platform has it.
