Update: The 2025 NHL Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final have concluded. The Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4–2, with Game 6 played on June 17, 2025. This guide explains where the postseason was streamed; later NHL seasons may use different networks, plans and prices.
In the United States, no single standalone streaming service carried every 2025 playoff game. Coverage was split between ESPN/ESPN2/ABC and TNT Sports networks, including TNT and truTV. In Canada, Sportsnet+ was the main direct-streaming option, with CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports also carrying games.
Can You Still Watch the 2025 NHL Playoffs?
Not as live events. The 2025 postseason took place during the 2024–25 NHL season and ended with Florida beating Edmonton four games to two in the Stanley Cup Final. Current services may offer full-game replays, condensed games or highlights, but availability is determined by the provider and can change.

The postseason consisted of the First Round, Second Round, Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Final. “Hockey finals” can mean either the Conference Finals or the championship series, so this guide uses Stanley Cup Final for the title series.

How the 2025 NHL Playoffs Were Broadcast in the U.S.
U.S. rights were divided. The correct streaming route depended on the network assigned to each game.

Best Ways to Stream Without Cable
If you need ESPN and ABC games
Use the ESPN app with eligible access, or choose a live-TV streaming service that carries ESPN, ESPN2 and your local ABC affiliate. A direct ESPN subscription may cover some ESPN content, but you must check the individual game listing to determine whether it includes the live telecast.
If you need TNT and truTV games
Max was the relevant direct-streaming route for the TNT Sports portion of the schedule. A live-TV service carrying TNT and truTV was another option. Max alone did not cover games assigned to ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.
If you want the complete U.S. postseason
The least complicated approach was a live-TV streaming service carrying ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, TNT and truTV. Check availability by ZIP code before subscribing, particularly for ABC. No ESPN-only or Max-only subscription guaranteed the entire U.S. playoff schedule.
Services such as Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV and Fubo promoted combinations of relevant NHL networks, but lineups, local stations, plan names and promotional prices change. Confirm the channels at checkout.

If you only need a few games
- Check the NHL schedule for the games you want.
- Identify whether they are on the ESPN/ABC side or TNT/truTV side.
- Choose only the required network group.
- Check trial eligibility, monthly billing and cancellation terms before paying.
- Cancel after the final game if you do not need the service for another month.
Do not assume a free trial is available. Offers vary by provider, account history and date.
Was ESPN+ Enough for Every Playoff Game?
No. ESPN+ content was not automatically the same as the live ESPN cable feed, ESPN2 or ABC telecasts. Some games could be listed through ESPN+, while other national playoff broadcasts required live ESPN access or authentication through a participating provider.
Before subscribing, open the listing for the specific game and confirm whether it says Live and identifies the required plan or provider. Local-market restrictions and national-rights rules may also affect access. The ESPN NHL page is the appropriate place to check current service details, but plans after the 2025 postseason may differ.
Was Max Enough for Every Playoff Game?
No. Max covered the TNT Sports portion of the 2025 schedule, including games associated with TNT and truTV. It did not replace ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC coverage.

Canada: Sportsnet+, CBC and TVA Sports
Canadian viewers had a different rights structure:
- Sportsnet+: Sportsnet described the service as streaming every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, subject to plan, regional and market distinctions.
- CBC: Carried selected nationally televised games, including some playoff coverage, where available.
- TVA Sports: Provided the principal French-language route for nationally televised playoff coverage.
- Sportsnet: Carried the main English-language television coverage.
Use the Sportsnet NHL Game Finder rather than assuming every game is included in every Sportsnet+ plan. Regional games, out-of-market games and blackout rules can differ. Sportsnet+ is a Canada-only product; it is not the domestic U.S. streaming solution.
Sportsnet’s pricing page currently indicates announced prices of C$34.99 monthly and C$269.99 annually beginning September 22, 2026. Those figures are future-dated relative to August 18, 2026, and should not be confused with the prices that applied during the 2025 playoffs. Verify the price and package at signup.

International Viewing Outside the U.S. and Canada
There was no universal worldwide streaming service. NHL rights vary by country and territory. Start with the NHL’s official international viewing information and select your location.

How to Watch on a TV, Phone or Computer
- Create an account with the service that carries the required game.
- Install the official ESPN, Max, Sportsnet or live-TV app on your device, or use the provider’s website.
- Sign in with the account that holds the subscription.
- Search for “NHL,” the teams or the specific game.
- Check that the listing says Live, rather than replay, highlights, condensed game or postgame show.
- Use AirPlay, Chromecast or the device’s native casting feature where supported.
Wording and menu locations vary by device and app version. Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, smart TVs, phones, tablets and browsers may not all support identical features. If an older television cannot install the app, use a supported streaming stick, game console, computer browser or mobile casting method.
2025 Stanley Cup Final: Schedule and Results
The Final was Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers. Florida won the series 4–2 and captured its second consecutive Stanley Cup.

In the U.S., the Final was carried by TNT Sports and streamed through Max, while the exact network designation remained game-specific. Consult the NHL’s official results page for the complete historical schedule.
Troubleshooting Streaming Problems
The game is listed but unavailable
- You have ESPN+ but the game requires live ESPN authentication.
- You have Max but the game is on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.
- Your live-TV plan does not include the local ABC affiliate.
- A regional blackout applies.
- You are outside the service’s supported country.
- The app is signed into a different account.
- Your live-TV provider has not completed activation with ESPN or Max.
The app says “Subscribe” after you paid
- Confirm that you are using the account that purchased the subscription.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Use the provider’s activation, linking or “TV provider” process.
- Check whether billing is attached to a different Apple, Google, Amazon or Roku account.
- Try the provider’s website in a browser.
- Confirm that the specific game is included in your plan.
- Check whether travel has placed you outside the subscription territory.
Your local ABC station is missing
A sports package does not automatically include every local ABC affiliate. Enter your ZIP code before subscribing and confirm that the specific station is available. This is especially important for services advertising national ABC coverage.
You can see a replay but not a live game
Because the 2025 postseason is over, a current listing may show only a full-game replay, condensed game or highlights. Check the label carefully. “Available” does not necessarily mean “live.”

Blackouts or schedule changes apply
Blackout rules are determined by league and broadcaster rights and vary by location and package. A subscription does not automatically bypass them. Start times and network assignments can change, so the NHL schedule should be the final authority for a particular game.
