Paramount+ streams NFL games carried by your local CBS station in the United States. The Essential plan currently includes NFL on CBS, while Premium adds the full live local CBS channel and other benefits. Paramount+ does not include every NFL game, every CBS game nationwide, or out-of-market Sunday-afternoon coverage.
What NFL games are available on Paramount+?
Paramount+ is primarily a way to watch the CBS NFL feed available in your local market. That typically means eligible Sunday-afternoon games and CBS-carried postseason games, subject to the current schedule and your local affiliate’s programming.
The key question is not simply whether CBS has the national rights to a game. It is whether your local CBS station is showing that game. Paramount+ follows the applicable local CBS feed, so viewers in different markets may see different games—or different programming altogether.

Which Paramount+ plan do you need?
Paramount’s plan pages checked on August 18, 2026 list NFL on CBS with Essential. Premium is not automatically required for every NFL game.

Prices are before applicable taxes and can change. Promotional pricing, annual billing, app-store billing, and provider-billed subscriptions may differ. Check the official plan comparison before subscribing.
Keep two distinctions clear:
- NFL on CBS is not the same thing as access to the full live local CBS station.
- Ad-free on-demand content does not mean live football is free of commercial breaks or sponsorships.
How to check whether a particular game is available
- Find the game on the official NFL schedule or your local CBS listings.
- Confirm that CBS—not FOX, NBC, ESPN, ABC, Amazon, Netflix, or Peacock—is carrying it.
- Confirm that your local CBS affiliate is scheduled to show that game.
- Sign in to Paramount+ and look under Live TV, Sports, or NFL on CBS.
- Check the listing again shortly before kickoff because local assignments and programming can change.
The NFL’s official viewing information can help identify where a game is carried, but the local CBS affiliate is the decisive test for Paramount+ availability.
How to subscribe to Paramount+
- Visit ParamountPlus.com or install the Paramount+ app.
- Select Sign Up, Get Started, or Pick a Plan.
- Choose Essential or Premium.
- Create an account and enter payment information.
- Sign in on the phone, computer, or TV you will use to watch.
- Confirm that the account country and location are correct.
Button labels vary by device, app version, promotional page, and billing platform. If Paramount+ is included with a television provider or another package, you may need to activate it first and use Connect with Provider or the provider’s credentials. The entitlement must specifically include the necessary Paramount+ access; having a TV package alone does not guarantee it.

How to watch on a phone or computer
- Open ParamountPlus.com or the Paramount+ mobile app.
- Sign in.
- Open Live TV, Sports, or NFL on CBS.
- Select the available CBS/NFL game tile.
- Choose Watch Live or the equivalent play control.
Depending on the device and event state, Paramount+ may offer pause, rewind, fast-forward, or Start From Beginning controls.
How to watch on a television
Paramount+ supports major platforms including Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Samsung smart TVs, LG smart TVs, Vizio smart TVs, Android TV/Google TV, Xbox, PlayStation, Xfinity, and Xumo devices. Supported models and minimum software requirements can change, so check Paramount’s current device information before relying on a particular television or streaming device.
- Install Paramount+ from the device’s app store.
- Open the app and select Sign In.
- Enter your credentials or use the on-screen activation code, depending on the device.
- Open the live sports or NFL section.
- Select the available CBS game.
Why a game may be missing
The game is out of market
Paramount+ does not generally provide out-of-market CBS Sunday-afternoon games. A game can be a CBS broadcast nationally but unavailable in your Paramount+ feed if your local affiliate is carrying another game or another program.

The game is on a different network
Paramount+ is not a complete NFL package. These broadcasts require their respective networks or services:

You are traveling
Paramount+ may determine the available local CBS feed from the location where you are watching, not the market associated with your home address. Check availability from the location where you will actually view the game.
A VPN or location tool is interfering
Turn off a VPN, proxy, or private relay. Location spoofing can produce the wrong market, prevent playback, or conflict with service terms. Do not use a VPN to bypass geographic restrictions.
Your account or app has stale data
- Confirm the local CBS schedule and the game’s network.
- Sign out of Paramount+ and sign back in.
- Check device location and internet settings.
- Update the Paramount+ app and device software.
- Try ParamountPlus.com in a browser or use another supported device.
- Contact Paramount+ support if the local CBS game should be available but the account entitlement is missing.
Your local station is showing something else
Local preemptions, breaking news, another NFL game, or other programming can affect the stream. This may be a local-affiliate limitation rather than a technical failure.

Buffering and poor picture quality
- Try another live stream to determine whether the problem affects one game or the service generally.
- Restart the Paramount+ app and streaming device.
- Reboot your router.
- Use Ethernet or a stronger Wi-Fi connection if possible.
- Close other high-bandwidth streams.
- Update the app and device firmware.
- Try a browser, phone, or alternate TV device.
Do not purchase a second plan before checking local-game availability and your account entitlement.

No. Paramount+ is a targeted option for viewers who want local CBS NFL games and Paramount+ entertainment. It is a good fit if you mainly watch AFC teams whose games appear on your local CBS station, want a lower-cost service, and are comfortable with local-market restrictions.
It is a poor fit if you want every Sunday-afternoon game, follow an out-of-market team, need FOX, NBC, ESPN/ABC, Amazon, Netflix, or Peacock games, or expect an NFL Sunday Ticket-style package.

Over-the-air antenna
An antenna may be the simplest option if your local CBS station has a strong signal and you mainly watch on one television. It avoids a recurring streaming bill but is less convenient for travel and mobile viewing.

Live-TV streaming service
A broader live-TV service may be better if you also need local FOX and NBC, ESPN/ABC, or other sports channels. These services generally cost more, so verify local-channel availability by ZIP code before subscribing.
NFL+
NFL+ offers certain live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on phones, tablets, and mobile web browsers, plus live audio on supported devices. NFL Sunday Ticket
Sunday Ticket is intended for out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games. It is unnecessary if you only want the local CBS game, but more appropriate when your priority is following an out-of-market team. Use the NFL’s current ways-to-watch information for availability and pricing.

Choose Essential if your goal is to stream NFL on CBS and the game is being shown by your local CBS station. Choose Premium if you also want the full live local CBS channel, downloads, SHOWTIME content, and other Premium benefits. Choose an antenna, broader live-TV service, NFL+, or Sunday Ticket instead when your needs extend beyond local CBS coverage.
