Spotify Wrapped 2024 launched on December 4, 2024, with a limited-time personalized AI Podcast built with Google’s NotebookLM Audio Overviews technology. Instead of presenting only charts and statistics, the feature generated a short conversation between two AI hosts about an individual listener’s favorite songs, artists, genres, and changing musical tastes.
It was not a conventional public podcast, a human-hosted show, or a permanently available Spotify feature. At launch, it was offered in English to eligible Free and Premium users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden.

What Spotify Wrapped’s AI Podcast was
The AI Podcast was a personalized audio recap of a listener’s 2024 Wrapped results. Two synthetic hosts discussed the listener’s musical year in a podcast-like format, drawing on Wrapped information such as favorite tracks, top artists, leading genres, and shifts in listening habits.
Spotify supplied the personalized Wrapped context, while Google provided the underlying NotebookLM technology. Google’s Audio Overviews format is designed to turn source material into a conversational discussion between AI hosts. The Spotify version used that concept for a purpose-built Wrapped experience; it was not the same as manually uploading a Spotify playlist to NotebookLM.

When it launched
Spotify introduced the feature on December 4, 2024, as part of its 2024 Wrapped campaign. Spotify described that edition as a major anniversary-era release, with the AI Podcast among several new AI-related experiences. The company’s official announcement also introduced AI DJ, AI Playlist, and Your Music Evolution.
How users accessed it at launch
Spotify’s launch-era instructions were:
- Open the Spotify app on iOS or Android.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Open the Wrapped feed.
- Select Your Wrapped AI podcast.
- Play the generated episode.
- Use the available controls to share or download it.
Google also provided the campaign route spotify.com/wrappedAIpodcast. Spotify recommended updating the mobile app for the full Wrapped experience, as explained in its app-update guidance.
Can you still access it?
The original announcements described the AI Podcast as available for a limited time. They do not establish that the 2024 feature remains accessible in 2026. If the entry no longer appears in Spotify, that may reflect the end of the campaign rather than a problem with the account.

Who could use it?
At launch, eligibility depended on several conditions:
- Language: English.
- Account: Eligible Free and Premium users.
- Markets: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden.
- Duration: Limited-time availability.
Premium was not required for the AI Podcast itself. The feature was not automatically available to every Spotify user worldwide, even if that user could access Wrapped generally.
What the AI hosts discussed
The generated conversation could cover favorite tracks, favorite artists, top genres, and changes in musical taste during 2024. Spotify’s related Your Music Evolution feature identified up to three listening phases, with associated descriptors, genres, and artists, and created a related playlist.

Your Music Evolution should not be confused with the AI Podcast. The former was a visual data story and playlist experience; the latter was an AI-generated spoken recap.
How it differed from Spotify’s other AI features

Accuracy and limitations
The AI Podcast was intended as an entertaining interpretation of Wrapped data, not a definitive statistical report. Google warned that the AI hosts could mispronounce names or other words and might not provide a comprehensive overview.

That means a spoken recap might omit a favorite artist, overlook a genre, or describe the year less precisely than Spotify’s visual Wrapped cards and playlists. For exact rankings, the in-app Wrapped results remain the better reference.
The experience could also feel repetitive or overly enthusiastic, a natural trade-off of turning structured listening data into a short, conversational narrative.

The partnership necessarily involved a personalized Spotify listening summary being used in a Google NotebookLM-powered experience. However, the launch announcements alone do not establish the precise fields transferred, retention period, training use, independent opt-out controls, or metadata attached to downloaded audio.

Those details should not be inferred from the product announcement. Anyone evaluating the feature’s privacy implications would need to consult the applicable Spotify and Google policies separately.
Why the feature mattered
The AI Podcast showed how a streaming service could turn first-party behavioral data into an automatically narrated story. Wrapped had traditionally summarized listening through visual rankings, share cards, and playlists. This experiment added an interpretive layer: two AI voices explaining the listener’s musical year in a format associated with human podcasts.
That made the feature novel, but also exposed the limits of generative summaries. The result was more engaging than a list of numbers, yet less complete and less precise than the underlying data.
For readers interested in the technology behind it, NotebookLM remains Google’s standalone product for generating audio overviews from a user’s own sources. It is not a replacement for Spotify Wrapped and does not automatically recreate the Spotify partnership experience.
