Classic Sesame Street episodes are no longer merely “coming” to YouTube. The rollout announced in September 2025 began in January 2026, and YouTube confirmed on January 15 that more than 100 full episodes from previous seasons were available to stream free on the official Sesame Street and Sesame Street Classics channels, as well as through YouTube Kids.
What was announced?
On September 4, 2025, YouTube and Sesame Workshop announced an expanded partnership intended to make YouTube the largest digital library of Sesame Street content. The plan included hundreds of full episodes beginning in January 2026, along with original YouTube videos, Shorts, themed compilations and educational content.

What is available now?
YouTube’s January 15, 2026 update confirmed that more than 100 full episodes from previous seasons were already available. Named examples include the 1969 episode that introduced characters such as Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and Kermit, along with Snuffy is Revealed, Mr. Rogers Visits, Maria & Luis Get Engaged and Goodbye Mr. Hooper.

The wording “classic” is broad here. It refers to historical episodes and previous seasons, not only programs from the 1960s or 1970s. The official announcement does not establish a precise season range.
Where to watch the episodes
- Main Sesame Street channel: Search for full episodes, classic episodes and playlists.
- Sesame Street Classics: This official channel features classic songs, moments and the historical episode collection.
- YouTube Kids: Search for Sesame Street in the YouTube Kids app or website.
YouTube’s catalog, playlists and regional availability can change, so it is safer to begin with the official channels than to rely on a permanent playlist link. When searching, verify that the uploader is the official channel rather than a fan or archive account.

Is it free?
Yes. YouTube describes the historical episodes as free to stream. That does not necessarily mean commercial-free: the announcement does not promise an ad-free experience. YouTube Premium is optional and is not required to access the official episodes.

There is no verified claim that every Sesame Street episode or season is available. The important distinction is:

- Announced in September 2025: A planned collection of hundreds of full episodes.
- Confirmed on January 15, 2026: More than 100 full episodes were available.
- Not confirmed: That the entire archive, every original song, or every guest appearance is online.
Some material may be presented as a one- or two-hour thematic compilation rather than an intact broadcast episode. Compilations, clips, songs and Shorts should not automatically be counted as full episodes. Archival availability can also vary because of territory, music, guest-appearance and distribution rights, although no specific missing episode should be assumed to be unavailable for any one of those reasons.
YouTube Kids or standard YouTube?

YouTube says its Kids filtering is not perfect. Parents can use Approved Content Only, blocking and screen-time controls when children are watching independently. Adults looking for a particular nostalgic episode may find the standard YouTube service easier.
If an episode is difficult to find
Search both official channels and try variations such as “full episode,” “classic” or the storyline title. An expected episode may be listed under a different name, included in a compilation, unavailable in a particular country, or temporarily reorganized, removed or made private. If a result comes from a third-party uploader, treat it separately from the official Sesame Workshop–YouTube collection.
How this differs from YouTube TV and other services
YouTube TV is a paid live-TV service and is not required for these free uploads. Its program directory is separate from the standard YouTube archive.
Best Value
Other services may carry separate selections. For example, Tubi announced 250 nostalgic episodes beginning April 1, 2026, with episodes periodically swapped. That is a separate, ad-supported catalog and should not be treated as evidence that YouTube has the complete archive.
