Yes—you can watch live ABC without cable through Hulu + Live TV, but only if Hulu carries your local ABC affiliate in your ZIP code. The ordinary on-demand Hulu plans do not include the live local ABC station. Before subscribing, check Hulu’s local channel lineup, because availability varies by market.
Does Hulu carry ABC?
Hulu carries live ABC through Hulu + Live TV, its internet-based live television service. In participating markets, this can include your local ABC station, along with live news, sports, awards shows, network programming, and new episodes as they air.
That is different from three types of ABC content you may also see in Hulu’s interface:

- Live ABC: Your local ABC affiliate’s broadcast feed, available through Hulu + Live TV when carried in your market.
- ABC on demand: Individual shows or episodes available in Hulu’s streaming library. Availability depends on the title and can change.
- ABC News Live: A separate streaming news feed. It is not the complete ABC broadcast network and does not replace local ABC entertainment, sports, or news programming.
Hulu is available for Live TV in the 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.; the service is not an international live-TV option.

Which Hulu plan do you need?
You need Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV or the higher-priced Hulu Premium + Live TV option. During a pricing check on August 16, 2026, Hulu displayed the following:

Prices, taxes, promotional offers, trial eligibility, and included services can change, so confirm the total on Hulu’s signup page before paying. The advertised bundle includes Hulu’s streaming library, Disney+ with ads, ESPN access, more than 100 live channels, and Unlimited DVR.
Choosing the Premium Hulu library option does not make all live programming commercial-free. Live channels can still include advertising, and some on-demand content may also contain ads depending on the title and plan.

Do not assume that Hulu carries ABC simply because ABC appears on a national network list. The relevant question is whether Hulu carries the local ABC affiliate serving your home address.
- Open Hulu’s Hulu + Live TV page.
- Select “View Channels in Your Area.”
- Enter your home ZIP code.
- Look for ABC or the local ABC affiliate in the results.
- Confirm the lineup before subscribing.
The channel may appear under a station call sign or local station name rather than simply “ABC.” Local, regional, and national channels can vary by location and may change over time.

How to watch ABC on Hulu
Once you have a Hulu + Live TV subscription and ABC is available in your market:
- Open the Hulu app on a supported device, or visit Hulu.com in a computer browser.
- Open the Live section or Live Guide.
- Search for ABC or browse to your local ABC station.
- Select the program currently airing.
- To save an upcoming program, add it to My Stuff or the DVR using the option shown in your app.
Hulu’s Live Guide labels can vary by device and app version. If a search finds an on-demand episode but not a live channel, check the Live Guide rather than relying only on the general search results.
Recording ABC programs
Hulu + Live TV includes Unlimited DVR. Hulu says live recordings can be stored for up to nine months and fast-forwarded. Unlimited DVR does not mean every on-demand title can be recorded, and a recorded broadcast remains subject to the service’s availability and playback rules.
Supported devices
Hulu supports Live TV on many common platforms, including:
- Mac and PC browsers through Hulu.com
- iPhone and iPad
- Android phones and tablets
- Roku
- Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
- Apple TV fourth generation or later
- Chromecast
- Xbox consoles
- PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
- Select Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Android TV devices
- Nintendo Switch
Compatibility can differ by model and may change. Check Hulu’s current supported-device list before subscribing, particularly if you use an older television or streaming box.

Why Hulu needs your location
Hulu uses location information to determine which local channels and Live TV programming you are entitled to receive. Some phones and tablets also require location services to be enabled. Hulu’s location-services guidance explains these requirements.
In practice:
- A VPN can interfere with local-channel verification.
- An incorrect or outdated location can produce the wrong channel lineup.
- Traveling may prevent you from receiving the same local ABC station available at home.
- Hulu + Live TV uses a designated home network and location process, so frequent household moves or network changes can trigger verification problems.

Will Hulu show ABC sports and special events?
Hulu advertises eligible live sports and special events airing on ABC, including certain NFL and college football programming. However, Hulu cannot guarantee every ABC event in every location.
Availability can be affected by:
- Your local ABC affiliate’s carriage
- Regional sports restrictions
- National or local blackouts
- League and network rights
- Your location
- Device or program restrictions
The safest expectation is that Hulu provides eligible ABC programming available in your market—not every event broadcast by ABC nationwide.
What if ABC is missing?
Work through these checks in order:
- Recheck the ZIP-code lineup. Confirm that Hulu lists your local ABC affiliate.
- Confirm the plan. An on-demand Hulu subscription does not provide the live local channel.
- Check the account. Make sure the app is signed into the account with Hulu + Live TV.
- Enable location services. This may be required on mobile devices.
- Update the app and device. Confirm that your hardware is supported.
- Open the Live Guide. Do not rely only on on-demand search results.
- Consider a blackout. A specific sporting event or program may be restricted even when the station is available.
- Restart Hulu and the device.
- Review Hulu’s home-network guidance. Location or network verification may need to be refreshed.
- Contact Hulu support. This is especially useful when ABC appears in your lineup but will not play.

How many people can watch Hulu + Live TV?
The standard Hulu + Live TV subscription permits viewing on two screens at the same time. Hulu also offers an Unlimited Screens add-on for additional simultaneous viewing at home; the plan description includes three mobile screens while away from home.
This is separate from the number of profiles on the account. Multiple profiles do not automatically increase the number of devices that can stream simultaneously.

With a cheaper Hulu plan
You may find current ABC episodes or older seasons in Hulu’s on-demand catalog, but that is not the same as watching the local ABC channel live. Catalog availability is title-specific and can change.
Through ABC’s website or app
ABC’s live page presents ABC programming, local programming where available, and ABC News Live. Direct availability and provider requirements vary by program and location, so it should not be treated as a guaranteed replacement for a full live-TV subscription.

A digital over-the-air antenna may be the better choice if you want only local ABC and other broadcast stations. It can eliminate a recurring TV subscription, provided your home receives a usable signal. Reception depends on distance from transmitters, terrain, building materials, antenna placement, and local coverage. The FCC’s over-the-air reception information explains the basics.

An antenna does not provide Hulu’s on-demand library, cable networks, nationwide access while traveling, or Hulu’s cloud DVR. It can nevertheless be the most economical option for local broadcast television.

You can also compare Hulu with services such as YouTube TV, DIRECTV, and Fubo. Their prices, local ABC availability, trial terms, DVR policies, sports rights, and location rules vary by service and market, so check each provider directly rather than relying on an outdated comparison.
Is Hulu + Live TV worth it for ABC?
Hulu + Live TV is a strong fit if you want local ABC alongside other broadcast and cable channels, sports, news, Hulu’s on-demand catalog, included Disney+ and ESPN access, and built-in DVR.

It may be poor value if ABC is the only channel you want, Hulu does not carry your local affiliate, your broadband connection is unreliable, you need more than two simultaneous home streams, or you want a completely ad-free live feed. In those cases, check an antenna first or compare other services.
