ESPN+ is not currently presented by ESPN as a Canadian standalone streaming subscription. ESPN’s current consumer plans are U.S.-oriented: ESPN Select includes ESPN+ content, while ESPN Unlimited adds ESPN’s broader networks and services. The displayed prices—US$11.99 per month or US$119.99 per year for Select, and US$29.99 per month or US$299.99 per year for Unlimited—are U.S. prices, not Canadian plans.
If you are in Canada, the practical legal approach is to identify the exact event first, then watch it through the Canadian rights-holder. Depending on the sport and competition, that may be TSN/TSN+, Sportsnet/Sportsnet+, Prime Video, CBC, TVA Sports, DAZN, OneSoccer, or another licensed distributor.

Is ESPN+ available in Canada?
ESPN does not currently present ESPN+ as a Canadian standalone streaming service. Its current product pages describe ESPN+ content through ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited, with U.S.-dollar pricing and U.S.-oriented provider references.

These prices should not be interpreted as Canadian pricing or as evidence of a Canadian retail signup option. ESPN says existing ESPN+ subscribers remain subscribers through the ESPN Select plan. That is why older guides may still refer to “ESPN+” while newer ESPN pages direct customers to ESPN Select.

The fastest way to find an ESPN+ event in Canada
- Identify the exact event. Note the league or competition, date, time, and whether it is live, replay-only, or pay-per-view.
- Check the Canadian rights-holder. Use the league’s official schedule or search the event on Canadian services such as TSN+, Sportsnet+, Prime Video, CBC, TVA Sports, DAZN, or OneSoccer.
- Check restrictions. Look for regional blackouts, national exclusivity, language options, PPV charges, and whether the event is included live or only on demand.
- Subscribe or authenticate through the official Canadian service. Do not assume an ESPN login will unlock a Canadian broadcaster’s stream.
- Watch in the provider’s official app or website. Confirm supported devices before paying for a plan.
Where Canadians may find sports associated with ESPN+

This is a starting point, not a permanent rights chart. Canadian sports rights change by season, competition, province, language, and broadcast window.
Does TSN+ replace ESPN+ in Canada?
No service should be described as a complete replacement for ESPN+. TSN+ may carry events that a U.S. viewer associates with ESPN, including selected NFL, NBA, NHL, college, golf, tennis, and soccer programming. But TSN+ does not automatically include the ESPN+ catalogue or every event shown on ESPN’s U.S. services.
The same principle applies to Disney+ Canada. Disney+ may promote Canadian sports integrations or access to TSN and TSN+ content, but it should not be treated as automatic access to the U.S. ESPN+ service. Confirm that the specific Canadian plan lists the programme or event you want before subscribing.

Why an event may not be on the expected service
ESPN+ is not the same as ESPN’s linear television networks. ESPN describes ESPN Select as the ESPN+ content-only tier, while ESPN Unlimited adds the broader ESPN network portfolio. An event shown on ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, or another network may therefore require a different U.S. plan—and may have an entirely different Canadian distributor.
Availability can also differ because of:
- regional or national rights;
- blackout rules;
- exclusive postseason or playoff coverage;
- pay-per-view status;
- English- or French-language rights;
- live versus replay availability; and
- different U.S. and Canadian broadcast feeds.
Can you use a VPN to watch ESPN+ in Canada?
Some guides suggest using a VPN to make a Canadian connection appear to be in the United States. That is not the same as an officially supported Canadian ESPN+ subscription, and it can fail because of account, payment, device, blackout, or terms-of-service checks. ESPN states that blackouts and other restrictions apply; it does not present a VPN as a Canadian access solution.
A VPN can also interfere with legitimate Canadian subscriptions. Sportsnet says VPNs, proxies, and some mobile, satellite, corporate, or privacy-routed networks can trigger a location restriction. It supports viewing only while the customer is physically in Canada.

Do not assume that changing VPN servers will solve a missing event. It may instead cause payment checks, app-store region problems, device-location checks, or account authentication failures. The reliable legal route is to use the Canadian rights-holder for the event.
What if you already subscribe to ESPN+ in the United States?
A U.S. subscription is not an automatic guarantee that you can watch the same catalogue while physically in Canada. Sports rights are territorial, and ESPN’s service pages warn that blackouts and other restrictions apply.
If you are travelling, consult the applicable ESPN terms and subscriber agreement for your account and event. Do not assume that the Canadian ESPN app, Disney+ Canada, or a Canadian TV provider will reproduce the U.S. ESPN+ catalogue.

The reverse is also important: a Canadian service may restrict access when you temporarily travel to the United States. Sportsnet explicitly limits streaming to viewers physically in Canada.
Which legal option fits your goal?
- Canadian NHL coverage: Start with Sportsnet+, TSN+, Prime Video, CBC, or TVA Sports according to the specific game and your region. Sportsnet’s Premium plan is the relevant tier for a larger out-of-market NHL package, but blackouts and regional restrictions can still apply.
- One UFC event: Check whether it is a Fight Night, prelim, or PPV. Sportsnet lists UFC programming and allows certain PPVs to be purchased directly through Sportsnet+.
- A TSN event: Investigate TSN or TSN+ first, but confirm the exact event and package before subscribing.
- U.S. college sports: ESPN Select covers ESPN+ content only. Major conference or network games may require ESPN Unlimited in the U.S., while Canadian distribution can be different.
- ESPN Originals: Search Canadian catalogues individually. A documentary or series may be licensed in Canada without the complete U.S. ESPN+ library being available.
- One specific game: Find the Canadian broadcaster before purchasing an annual plan. A monthly subscription, TV authentication, or one-off PPV may be the least expensive legitimate option.
Sportsnet+ pricing and Canadian availability
At the time of research in August 2026, Sportsnet displayed these prices in Canadian dollars:
- Standard: C$29.99 per month or C$249.99 per year.
- Premium: C$42.99 per month or C$324.99 per year.
- Bundle: C$31.99 per month.
Sportsnet also displayed announced price increases effective September 22, 2026, so check the current pricing page before subscribing. Sportsnet+ is a strong option for Canadian NHL, MLB, NBA, Sportsnet programming, and UFC-related coverage, but it is not a substitute for the full U.S. ESPN+ catalogue. Its official site and support page should be used to confirm the plan, event, region, and device requirements.

Troubleshooting
The event is missing
- Search the event title plus “Canada broadcaster,” or check the league’s Canadian broadcast page.
- Search inside TSN+, Sportsnet+, Prime Video, or the relevant Canadian app.
- Confirm the date, time zone, and whether the event is live, delayed, replay-only, or PPV.
- Check your province because regional rights can differ.
A Canadian service says you are outside Canada
- Disable VPN, proxy, Smart DNS, or other location-masking tools.
- Check whether your mobile, satellite, corporate, or privacy-routed network has been geolocated incorrectly.
- Try the provider’s official website and app.
- Sign out and back in after correcting the connection.
- Enable device-location permissions where the provider requires them.
- Contact the provider if your Canadian IP address is incorrectly classified.
ESPN requests a U.S. subscription
That does not necessarily mean your account is defective. Check whether the event has a Canadian distributor, whether you have ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, and whether a blackout or territorial restriction applies. If you are travelling, consult the subscriber agreement rather than repeatedly changing your network location.
Bottom line
Canadians generally cannot simply purchase a Canadian ESPN+ plan and receive the U.S. ESPN+ catalogue. Find the exact event first, identify the Canadian rights-holder, and use that provider’s official service. ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited are U.S.-oriented products, while TSN+, Sportsnet+, Prime Video, CBC, TVA Sports, and other Canadian distributors may carry individual events or sports through separate rights agreements.
