Apple TV’s early-2026 thriller lineup paired the return of The Last Thing He Told Me with the new psychological-thriller limited series Imperfect Women. The first is a continuation starring Jennifer Garner; the second is a self-contained eight-episode mystery led by Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, and Kate Mara.
Both have now completed their announced episode runs as of August 16, 2026, so viewers can catch up rather than wait for weekly releases.

The Last Thing He Told Me season 2
Jennifer Garner returns as Hannah in the second season of Apple TV’s mystery thriller. Angourie Rice, David Morse, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also return, with Judy Greer and Rita Wilson among the new cast additions reported for the season.
The story brings Owen back after five years on the run. Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey must work out how to reunite their family while dealing with the consequences of the past. The second season is based on Laura Dave’s follow-up novel, The First Time I Saw Him, rather than simply continuing the plot of the first book.

Season 1 should come first. Although the second season has its own central setup, Hannah and Bailey’s relationship and the family’s history are established in the earlier episodes. Reading Dave’s sequel is optional; the available production information does not establish that it is required before watching the series.
The season premiered on Friday, February 20, 2026, with new episodes released weekly through Friday, April 10. That makes it the better choice for viewers who want a returning show, a family-centered mystery, and a continuing Apple TV story.

A murder fractures the lives of three longtime friends. As the investigation develops, it exposes secrets, guilt, betrayal, and the possibility of retribution. The setup focuses as much on the pressure placed on the women’s friendship as on the crime itself, without giving away the mystery’s major turns.
Annie Weisman, previously associated with Apple’s Physical, created and showran the series. It is adapted from Araminta Hall’s novel Imperfect Women, which is available through this retailer listing. Readers who want to avoid potential spoilers may prefer to watch the series first.

The series premiered Wednesday, March 18, 2026, with two episodes. Further episodes arrived weekly, with the announced run concluding Wednesday, April 29. Its limited-series structure makes it the cleaner starting point for anyone who wants a standalone psychological crime story rather than another season of an existing show.

Which one should you watch?
- Choose The Last Thing He Told Me season 2 if you want Jennifer Garner, a family mystery, and a story that continues from an earlier season. Start with season 1 if you have not seen it.
- Choose Imperfect Women if you prefer a completed limited series, a large ensemble cast, female friendship under pressure, and a psychological mystery built around a murder.
- Watch both if you like book adaptations but want different formats: one is a sequel-based returning drama, while the other adapts a standalone novel as an eight-episode limited series.

Apple’s February 2026 press material listed the U.S. subscription price as $12.99 per month and mentioned a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.
