Apple TV costs £9.99 a month in the UK after a seven-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. You can watch through the Apple TV app on a compatible device; you do not need to buy an Apple TV 4K box. Your total cost changes if you choose Apple hardware, qualify for Apple Music Student, or bundle services with Apple One. Prices below reflect Apple’s UK pages on 18 August 2026.
What does “Apple TV” mean?

Apple’s current consumer-facing UK service page uses “Apple TV”; older pages and articles may say “Apple TV+.” Some older Apple promotional material still shows £8.99 a month, but that is not the price on the live UK service page. Check the price shown at sign-up, since prices and offers can change.
How much is the Apple TV subscription?
The advertised UK standalone price is £9.99 per month after seven days free, subject to trial eligibility. If you keep it for 12 paid months, that is £119.88 in subscription fees. Apple’s UK page presents the standalone price monthly; an annual standalone plan is not established by the current pricing information. Check Apple’s current UK offer.
The trial is not guaranteed for everyone. Your Apple Account history and the sign-up route can affect eligibility, so review the checkout screen before confirming. A free trial normally converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the renewal time shown in your account.

What does the subscription include?
Apple TV’s subscription is centred on Apple Original films and series, including new releases and continuing programmes. Apple describes its originals as ad-free and available on demand; downloads for offline viewing are available on supported Apple devices. Apple’s UK Apple TV information also describes Family Sharing for up to five family members in addition to the organiser, for a total of up to six people, subject to Apple’s Family Sharing rules.
The subscription does not make every title shown in the Apple TV app free to watch. A film may be available to rent or buy, or a channel may require its own subscription. Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, NOW and other third-party services are not included just because their content or apps appear alongside Apple TV. Look for whether a title is included with Apple TV, requires a separate subscription, or is offered to rent or buy. Apple’s service page explains these exclusions.
Do you need to buy an Apple TV 4K box?
No. The subscription can be watched in the Apple TV app on supported Apple devices and compatible third-party devices, including certain smart TVs and streaming devices. Apple also lists Android-device access. Compatibility depends on the particular device and app availability, so check your television or device’s app store before buying new hardware. If you already have a compatible television, streaming stick, console, phone, tablet or computer, subscribing directly is the lower-cost route. A dedicated Apple TV 4K may still suit someone who wants a separate living-room interface or needs features their existing device lacks, but it is not a subscription requirement.
Apple TV 4K prices and first-year cost
Apple’s UK store lists two current Apple TV 4K configurations. These are hardware prices, not bundles that permanently include the streaming subscription. See Apple’s UK purchase page.

The calculations assume 12 paid months at the listed subscription price and exclude any trial, offer, tax change, accessories and internet costs; they are arithmetic, not Apple bundle prices. The 128GB model costs £20 more. It is mainly worth considering if you want wired networking, Thread support or the extra storage; a viewer with reliable Wi‑Fi and no need for those features may not benefit from paying more.

- Television: you need an HD-capable or better TV with an HDMI connection.
- Broadband: streaming requires an internet connection, which may be a separate household cost.
- Optional cover: Apple’s purchase flow showed AppleCare+ at £25. It is optional. Check the current purchase options.
Free trials and lower-cost routes
Seven-day standard trial
Apple’s UK service page advertises seven days free before £9.99 monthly. Eligibility can vary, so rely on the offer and renewal date shown before you accept rather than assuming the trial is available to every account. View the current offer.
Three months with eligible Apple TV 4K hardware
Apple advertises three months of Apple TV with an eligible Apple TV 4K purchase. This is a promotional offer, not permanent access. The UK terms specify a redemption period, generally within 90 days of setting up or connecting an eligible device; read the terms for the applicable offer and claim it promptly. Promotions may not combine with other trials or Apple One offers, and eligibility restrictions apply. It normally becomes paid unless cancelled before the displayed renewal time. Apple Music Student
Apple’s UK Apple Music Student Plan is £5.99 a month and includes Apple TV at no additional charge, subject to student verification and eligibility. This is a paid Apple Music plan with Apple TV as a benefit, not a standalone student price for Apple TV. It can be the lower-cost route for an eligible student who also wants Apple Music. Apple One
Apple One bundles Apple TV with other Apple services. UK monthly prices shown by Apple are £18.95 for Individual, £24.95 for Family and £36.95 for Premier. The plans are monthly with no long-term commitment. The bundle is useful only if its other services and sharing or storage benefits are worth paying for in your household. See Apple One plans.

For someone who wants only Apple TV, the £9.99 standalone plan costs less than even Apple One Individual at £18.95. The bundle may make sense when you would otherwise pay for enough of its included services—such as Apple Music or additional iCloud storage—to justify the difference.

- Want Apple TV and Apple Music: compare the combined standalone charges with Apple One Individual, and check whether its other included services matter to you.
- Sharing services or needing more iCloud storage: compare Apple One Family or Premier against the services your household actually uses.
- Already covered by a family member: check what is shared before starting another subscription, to avoid paying twice for overlapping services.
Apple says Apple One can bundle up to six Apple subscriptions and that bundle savings are measured against buying included services separately; the actual value depends on what you would otherwise subscribe to. Apple One plan information.
How to avoid unwanted charges and cancel
Trials and promotional subscriptions can renew into paid plans. Before accepting, note the end date and post-trial price displayed on the sign-up screen. If you do not want to continue, cancel in time for the renewal deadline shown for that subscription.
- Identify where you started the subscription: Apple Account, a device maker, a mobile provider or another platform.
- Open subscription management on that billing platform and find Apple TV or the relevant bundle. Apple-billed subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account subscriptions.
- Cancel the subscription there and check the confirmation and access end date. Deleting the Apple TV app does not itself cancel billing.
Apple One is billed monthly and can be cancelled at least one day before renewal; access continues through the paid period. For a subscription bought through a third party, cancellation must generally be handled through that provider. Apple’s UK Apple One page.
