What happens in the Part 3 trailer?
Part 3 picks up after the previous episodes and returns to the Forman home in 1996. Red and Kitty come back from Paris expecting their house to be intact, only to discover that a car crash has damaged the kitchen and punched a conspicuous hole through it.
The accident is the trailer’s main comic setup, but the story is not limited to repairing the house. Leia and her friends are facing shifting romances, strained friendships and the pressure of an approaching end to summer. Netflix’s preview also brings back Mitch, a character connected to the earlier storyline.
Leia’s larger problem is emotional. She does not want to leave Point Place when summer ends, and the trailer shows her friends considering whether her mother, Donna, could be persuaded to let her stay for the school year. That conflict gives Part 3 a more consequential question than simply whether the Forman kitchen can be fixed.
Leia’s Point Place story
That ’90s Show is Netflix’s sequel series and spin-off of That ’70s Show. It moves the timeline forward to 1996 and centers on Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna and the granddaughter of Red and Kitty.
Like its predecessor, the newer series uses the Forman home and basement as its central gathering place. Leia’s new generation of friends occupies the space once associated with Eric, Donna, Kelso, Jackie, Hyde and Fez, while Red and Kitty provide continuity with the original sitcom.
Debra Jo Rupp returns as Kitty Forman and Kurtwood Smith returns as Red. Their involvement is more than a brief legacy cameo: the grandparents remain part of Leia’s everyday life and are directly caught up in the consequences of the kitchen crash.

The trailer also features Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes in connection with the kitchen-crash storyline. Their appearance may look familiar because they are dressed in a way that recalls Jay and Silent Bob, but Netflix clarified that the characters in That ’90s Show are not literally those Clerks characters. The distinction matters because the story is set in 1996 and uses new roles within the sitcom’s world.

Is That ’90s Show coming back?
No further installment has been announced. TVLine reported on October 3, 2024, that Netflix had canceled the series after two seasons, with Part 3 serving as the second half of the second season. E! also reported the cancellation in connection with a farewell message from Kurtwood Smith, while noting at the time that Netflix had not independently confirmed the ending in the report.
The safest current description is therefore that That ’90s Show ended after its released two-season run. It would be inaccurate to describe Part 3 as a forthcoming return or to suggest that another streaming service has revived the show without a new official announcement.
