The Maze Runner trilogy is the dystopian franchise that found the newly announced streaming home. Netflix’s Tudum announced on October 14, 2025, that all three films were streaming on the service: The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and Maze Runner: Death Cure (2018).
The Maze Runner trilogy is the franchise referenced by the new streaming-home announcement. Netflix’s Tudum announced on October 14, 2025, that the complete three-film movie series was streaming on Netflix: The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and Maze Runner: Death Cure (2018).
That makes the announcement notable for one simple reason: viewers can follow the central film story in one place, from Thomas’s first arrival in the Glade to the survivors’ fight through the Scorch and their attempt to enter the Last City. It is a streaming-availability change, however—not a permanent transfer of ownership. Netflix catalogs differ by country and can change over time, so viewers should verify the trilogy in their own Netflix catalog before planning a marathon.
What is The Maze Runner about?
The first film begins with Thomas, a teenager who wakes up in the Glade with little or no memory of his previous life. He finds himself among other boys in a controlled agrarian settlement surrounded by a vast maze. The maze changes, and its corridors are guarded by dangerous semi-mechanical creatures known as Grievers.

The group’s immediate objective is to understand the maze and find a way out. The setting is not simply an isolated fantasy environment: the official film synopsis describes it as part of a controlled experiment established after a major ecological disaster. Thomas’s arrival threatens the Glade’s existing rules and accelerates the effort to discover why the teenagers were placed there.
The story expands considerably after the first escape. The survivors enter a devastated world shaped by solar flares and a disease called the Flare. They also become targets of WCKD, the organization connected to the maze and the larger experiment.
The Maze Runner movies in release order
| Film | Release | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| The Maze Runner | September 19, 2014 | Thomas arrives in the Glade, joins the effort to map and escape the changing maze, and confronts the Grievers. The film is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour 53 minutes. Wes Ball directed it. |
| Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials | 2015 | After leaving the maze, Thomas and the other survivors cross the Scorch while trying to evade WCKD and locate the resistance group known as the Right Arm. |
| Maze Runner: Death Cure | 2018 | The concluding film follows an attempt to infiltrate the Last City, a WCKD-controlled stronghold, to rescue friends who are imprisoned or affected by the Flare. |
Watching the films in release order is also the natural story order. The second and third movies depend heavily on the first film’s setup, and neither sequel is a separate maze adventure. The franchise moves from a contained survival mystery into a broader post-apocalyptic conflict involving WCKD, the Flare, the Right Arm, and the Last City.

Why the Netflix announcement matters
Streaming announcements often involve a single film or one installment of a series. This one was more useful to franchise viewers because it covered the complete theatrical trilogy at once. Netflix’s October 14, 2025 announcement presented the films as a connected progression: the maze, the Scorch, and finally the Last City.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThat distinction matters for anyone deciding whether to start the series. A viewer does not have to locate three different services to continue the main movie storyline—provided all three titles are available in that viewer’s territory when they search. Netflix’s individual title pages have shown different results in different countries, including one regional page listing The Maze Runner and another stating that it was unavailable. Availability is therefore regional, date-sensitive, and subject to licensing changes.
Is The Maze Runner still on Netflix?
The documented announcement placed all three films on Netflix on October 14, 2025. That does not establish permanent availability in every country or at every later date. Netflix’s catalog is licensed by territory, and a title can be available in one country while unavailable in another.

To check before watching:
- Open Netflix in the country where you intend to watch.
- Search separately for The Maze Runner, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Maze Runner: Death Cure.
- Confirm that all three title pages appear and can be played with your account.
- If one film is missing, check legitimate local digital-rental, purchase, library, or physical-media options rather than assuming that the entire trilogy has left Netflix everywhere.
In other words, “new streaming home” describes the announced Netflix licensing window. It should not be read as a claim that Netflix owns the franchise or that the movies will remain there indefinitely.

Readers who want to compare the source material with the films can begin with The Maze Runner book. The movies draw on the central trilogy, but the wider literary series also includes prequel novels. The film trilogy should not be presented as a one-to-one adaptation of every book in that larger series.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you watch the trilogy?
If the appeal is a high-concept survival mystery, the first film is the essential entry point: its strongest hook is the combination of erased memories, a changing maze, an enclosed community, and the need to decode a system designed by someone else.
The sequels are a better fit for viewers who want the story to broaden into post-apocalyptic pursuit and institutional conflict. They leave the maze behind and focus on the Scorch, the Flare, WCKD, the Right Arm, and the Last City. That change in scale is important when setting expectations: the trilogy is not three variations on the same maze premise.
