TELUS announced the initial Ontario and Quebec rollout in May 2025, then announced in June 2026 that the complete Optik TV suite was available in Ontario and that Optik TV had expanded to Montreal and Quebec City. PureFibre Internet is required, and availability, channels and pricing depend on the customer’s address.
Yes—but the rollout happened in stages. TELUS first announced an all-in-one live-TV and streaming service for Ontario and additional parts of Quebec on May 14, 2025. The latest expansion announced on June 10, 2026 is broader: TELUS says the complete Optik TV suite is available in Ontario, while Optik TV has also expanded to the Montreal and Quebec City areas.
That does not mean every Ontario or Quebec address can order the service. Availability is address-specific, and customers in the newly expanded markets must have TELUS PureFibre Internet. The available channels, streaming services, prices and promotions can also differ by region and plan.
What changed between 2025 and 2026?
The May 2025 announcement introduced TELUS’s customizable TV and streaming experience to customers in selected Ontario regions and more areas of Quebec. The idea was to combine live television with services such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ through a single TELUS-managed experience and the TELUS TV Digital Box.

By June 2026, TELUS was no longer describing Ontario availability simply as an initial launch. Its Ontario announcement said the complete Optik TV suite was available there, with flexible plans offering more than 450 sports and live-TV channels in addition to streaming services. A separate announcement covered the expansion to the Montreal and Quebec City areas, where TELUS described plans with more than 300 TV channels and a different selection of French-language and general-interest content.
Those channel counts should not be combined into one national TELUS lineup. They are descriptions from separate regional announcements, and TELUS says eligibility and content vary by address, package and region.
Ontario: what TELUS says is available
For Ontario customers who qualify, TELUS describes Optik TV as a flexible bundle combining:
- More than 450 sports and live-TV channels, depending on the selected package and address;
- Streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, Crave, Prime Video and Apple TV;
- On-demand programming;
- A TELUS TV Device with a Bluetooth voice remote and Google Assistant functionality;
- Access across supported televisions and mobile or computer devices through the TELUS TV+ app; and
- The option to combine TV with TELUS Mobility, SmartHome Security and SmartEnergy services.
The important qualification is “depending on the package and address.” The more-than-450 figure is not a promise that every Ontario subscriber receives every channel, nor does it establish that every sports network is available in every plan.

Montreal and Quebec City: a separate regional offer
TELUS’s June 2026 Quebec announcement covers the Montreal and Quebec City areas rather than all of Quebec. It describes access to more than 300 TV channels, along with streaming services including illico+, Netflix, Crave, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV.
The Quebec expansion also highlights features that will matter particularly to French-language viewers, including:

Quebec had earlier received related TELUS streaming developments. In December 2023, TELUS began offering Club illico as an add-on to eligible Optik TV customers in Quebec. In August 2024, TELUS expanded EnContinu+ packages combining Club illico, Netflix and Prime Video. Those were earlier streaming-bundle steps; they were not the same announcement as the later full Optik TV expansion into Ontario and the Montreal and Quebec City areas.
PureFibre Internet is required
TELUS says customers in the newly expanded markets must have TELUS PureFibre Internet to qualify for Optik TV. PureFibre is TELUS’s direct-to-home, 100% fibre-optic Internet service.
This requirement makes the address check more important than the province listed on a customer’s postal address. A person living in Ontario or in the Montreal or Quebec City area may still be ineligible if TELUS PureFibre has not been made available at that specific address, or if the address does not qualify for the relevant TV package.
TELUS’s Ontario offer page shows an example bundle built around PureFibre 1.5 Gigabit Internet and Optik TV. The displayed Internet specifications are up to 1,500 Mbps download and up to 1,000 Mbps upload. Those figures describe the advertised plan, not a guarantee that the same tier can be ordered at every Ontario address.
How the customizable TV plans work
Unlike a permanently fixed channel package, TELUS promotes the ability to adjust eligible selections. Customers may swap, add or remove qualifying Premium and Theme Pack choices every 30 days.
There are limits to that flexibility:
- Changing a Premium requires selecting another eligible Premium;
- Changing a Theme Pack requires selecting another eligible Theme Pack;
- The available choices depend on the customer’s plan type; and
- Not every channel or streaming service is available in every region or package.
This feature may suit households whose viewing changes seasonally—for example, a household that wants a particular sports or entertainment package for a month and then prefers a different selection. It should not be interpreted as unlimited, immediate access to every service TELUS advertises.

The TELUS TV Device and TELUS TV+ app
The TELUS TV Device is designed to bring live TV, streaming applications, on-demand programming, gaming apps and Google Play applications together in one television interface, subject to the selected package and system requirements. It includes a Bluetooth voice remote and Google Assistant functionality.
TELUS also promotes the TELUS TV+ app for watching supported content on compatible smartphones, tablets and computers. The app provides flexibility away from the main television, but the word “supported” matters: device compatibility, available content and account entitlements can affect what a customer can watch.
The TV Device is normally supplied as TELUS property on a monthly rental. TELUS’s current materials list an ordinary rental price of $10 per month, with the fee discounted for eligible customers on a two-year agreement. Customers generally must return the equipment after cancellation or replacement charges may apply.
If you are connecting a TV box or other streaming hardware to a television, an optional 4K HDMI cable may be useful—but the cable is only a connection accessory. It does not provide TELUS service, unlock Optik TV channels or replace the TELUS TV Device. Check the cable and television specifications before buying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePricing: why the advertised amount is not universal
TELUS’s current Ontario page displays streaming, live TV and Internet from $130 per month in the advertised offer. That figure should be treated as an example promotional price, not a province-wide standard.
The final price can depend on:
- The customer’s address and available Internet tier;
- The selected Optik TV core package;
- Premium and Theme Pack selections;
- Included or separately billed streaming services;
- Whether the customer bundles other TELUS services;
- Promotional discounts and their expiry dates;
- Equipment rental terms; and
- Whether the customer accepts a contract commitment.
The same Ontario offer materials give example regular Optik TV prices of $65 per month for Core plus one Premium, and $85 per month for one Theme Pack plus two Premiums. These examples are not necessarily the total bill: Internet, equipment, taxes, other services and selected add-ons may be additional. TELUS also notes that prices, promotions and channel availability can change.

Sports channels require extra checking
TELUS markets Optik TV as offering sports and live television, but sports availability is not uniform across Canada. The exact lineup may depend on the address and selected package, particularly for TSN, regional sports networks and specialty channels.

That response is user-generated and may not describe every current plan or address, so it should not be treated as a universal current rule.
If a specific team or league is the reason for switching providers, ask TELUS to confirm the exact channel name, package, regional restriction, streaming entitlement and total monthly cost for the address. “Sports channels available” is not precise enough to establish that a particular TSN, regional sports or specialty service is included.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Is Optik TV a replacement for standalone streaming?
Optik TV is best understood as a managed bundle for people who want live television, selected streaming services and one provider relationship. It may be less attractive to a household that watches only a few on-demand apps and does not need live channels.
A standalone device such as the Google TV Streamer (4K) can be an alternative for app-based streaming, with HDMI connectivity and voice-search features. However, it is not verified here as an Optik TV replacement, and buying one does not provide TELUS live channels or Optik TV entitlements. The same limitation applies to a standalone streaming stick such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max: it is general streaming hardware, not a confirmed substitute for the TELUS TV Device.

Why TELUS is expanding in Ontario and Quebec
The expansion fits TELUS’s broader PureFibre and Eastern Canada strategy. A 2026 CRTC order reported that TELUS was offering retail Internet services using aggregated wholesale fibre access in Ontario and Quebec. That regulatory development helps explain how TELUS could extend Internet, television and smart-home offerings beyond its traditional Western Canadian footprint.
It does not, however, prove that Optik TV is available at every address or in every community. TELUS also announced plans on May 21, 2026 to invest more than $24 billion in Ontario through 2030 to expand and enhance network infrastructure and operations. That is strategic network context, not evidence of universal TV availability today.
How to check whether you can order TELUS TV
- Use the TELUS address-level availability check. Enter the complete service address rather than relying on the province or city name.
- Confirm PureFibre eligibility. Optik TV in these expanded markets requires qualifying TELUS PureFibre Internet.
- Ask for the exact TV lineup. Confirm the core channels, Premiums, Theme Packs, French-language services and sports networks available at the address.
- Request the full price breakdown. Separate the promotional price from the regular price, equipment rental, taxes, add-ons and streaming subscriptions.
- Check the contract terms. Confirm the commitment period, price-lock conditions, early-cancellation charges and equipment-return requirements.
- Verify streaming access. Ask which services are included in the TELUS bill and which require an existing or separately created account.
- Confirm device support. Check whether the television, phone, tablet or computer can use the TELUS TV Device or TELUS TV+ app as intended.
The short version is that TELUS TV is now a real option for eligible customers in Ontario and in the Montreal and Quebec City areas, but it is not a province-wide, one-price, one-lineup service. The PureFibre requirement and address-level eligibility check determine whether the offer is available—and the detailed package terms determine what “available” actually includes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is TELUS TV available throughout Ontario?
Yes, but not necessarily at every Ontario address. TELUS says the complete Optik TV suite is available in Ontario, while eligibility depends on the specific address and requires qualifying PureFibre Internet.
Is TELUS Optik TV available across Quebec?
TELUS announced an expansion to the Montreal and Quebec City areas on June 10, 2026. The announcement does not establish availability throughout Quebec, so customers must check their address.
How much does TELUS TV cost in Ontario?
TELUS’s advertised Ontario example starts at $130 per month for streaming, live TV and Internet. That is a promotional, address-dependent offer and may change; the final bill depends on the Internet plan, TV package, add-ons, equipment and contract terms.
Do I need TELUS PureFibre Internet for Optik TV?
TELUS says customers in the expanded markets must have TELUS PureFibre Internet. The TV plan and Internet tier still require address-level eligibility confirmation.
Does TELUS Optik TV include TSN and other sports channels?
The exact sports lineup varies by address and package. Customers should specifically confirm TSN, regional sports networks and any specialty channel they need before ordering.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: TELUS’s initial May 2025 rollout has become a broader June 2026 expansion: the complete Optik TV suite is available in Ontario, and Optik TV has reached the Montreal and Quebec City areas. Customers need qualifying PureFibre Internet, and the price, channels, sports services and streaming inclusions vary by address and package. Check the exact address and contract terms before treating any advertised offer as final.
