Miss AI was a 2024 online competition for AI-generated virtual influencers, and its inaugural winner was Kenza Layli of Morocco. Organized by Fanvue with the World AI Creator Awards, the event judged appearance or realism, technical skill, and social clout—not autonomous machine intelligence. Lalina of France placed second and Olivia C of Portugal placed third.
Miss AI was a 2024 online competition for AI-generated virtual influencers—not a conventional beauty pageant and not a contest in which autonomous machines entered on their own. The inaugural title went to Kenza Layli, a Moroccan AI-generated persona. Lalina of France placed second, while Olivia C of Portugal placed third.
The event was launched by the creator-monetization platform Fanvue in association with the World AI Creator Awards, or WAICA. Its significance was less about finding a “most beautiful AI” than about judging complete virtual-creator projects: their visual realism, the technical work behind them, and their ability to attract an audience.
What was Miss AI?
Miss AI was introduced in April 2024 as what organizers presented as the world’s first AI beauty pageant. Its contestants were AI-generated models, influencers, and virtual personalities rather than human women appearing in a physical venue.

The competition reportedly attracted more than 1,500 entries from AI creators around the world. The field was reduced to a Top 10, and the podium was announced in July 2024. The event operated online as an awards competition, not as a traditional pageant with live stages, physical interviews, and contestants traveling to one location.
That distinction matters. The images and personas were artificial, but the work was human-led. People created the characters, selected image and video tools, wrote prompts, corrected visual errors, established backstories, published social posts, and managed the accounts. In practical terms, Miss AI judged human-built AI creator projects presented through fictional or virtual identities.
Who organized the pageant?
Fanvue, a platform focused on creator monetization, was identified as the platform partner behind the 2024 competition. The event itself was presented under the World AI Creator Awards banner.
Fanvue’s current help documentation recognizes AI creators as a category on its platform. AI creator accounts are identified with an AI label, and AI-generated content is permitted subject to the platform’s rules. That policy helps explain the connection: a virtual influencer can be designed as a character, build an audience on social platforms, and potentially develop a paid creator community on a service such as Fanvue. That general platform context should not be read as proof that any particular Miss AI finalist currently operates a paid Fanvue account.

The scoring combined three broad areas:
| Category | What it measured |
|---|---|
| Appearance and realism | The contestant’s visual presentation, apparent realism, pageant-style poise, and answers to questions. |
| Technical skill | How effectively the creator used AI tools, including prompting, visual detail, and consistency in difficult features such as hands and eyes. |
| Social clout | Audience engagement, follower growth, and activity across platforms including Instagram. |
The three dimensions made the event different from a simple image-ranking exercise. A contestant could be visually impressive but technically inconsistent, or technically accomplished without having built a substantial audience. The points-based approach attempted to reward the full process of creating and promoting an AI persona.
A hybrid judging panel
The panel reportedly included two human judges and two AI-generated influencers. Named AI judges included Aitana Lopez and Emily Pellegrini; Sally-Ann Fawcett was identified as one of the human judges.
This was therefore not solely an automated system comparing pixels. Human judgment was combined with judgments presented through AI personas. That arrangement also raised a question at the heart of the event: when a fictional digital character appears to judge another fictional digital character, how much of the decision belongs to the persona and how much belongs to the people operating it?
Who won Miss AI?
1. Kenza Layli — Morocco
Kenza Layli won the inaugural Miss AI title. She was presented as a Moroccan AI influencer associated with Moroccan culture, women’s empowerment, and advocacy for greater regulation in the influencer market.

Those descriptions refer to the constructed character and the public narrative developed around her. Layli is not an autonomous woman with personal experiences or independent beliefs; the persona’s appearance, voice, messages, and stated causes were created and managed by human operators.

Reporting said her creators used AI to produce image, video, and audio. Her victory reflected more than a polished portrait: the project combined a recognizable identity, social positioning, technical production, and audience-facing communication.
2. Lalina — France
Lalina of France placed second. She was described as a highly realistic AI persona, with her creator emphasizing original generation and cross-cultural understanding.
Her placement illustrates the importance the contest gave to realism and character consistency. A convincing virtual influencer needs to look coherent from one post to the next while also sustaining a recognizable public identity.
3. Olivia C — Portugal
Olivia C of Portugal placed third. She was positioned as an AI traveler, and reporting associated her production with Midjourney and Adobe AI for creating and refining imagery.
Her travel identity also shows how these projects are built as lifestyle brands. The contestant was not merely a sequence of generated faces; the creator developed a theme that could support destinations, stories, images, and ongoing social activity.
Other finalist themes
The Top 10 represented a range of countries and creator strategies. Two other examples were:
- Zara Shatavari of India, whose persona was framed around wellness and healthy living.
- Anne Kerdi of France, whose public identity was associated with ocean-conservation themes.
These causes and interests should be understood as creator positioning rather than evidence that the virtual characters independently hold convictions. The people behind the accounts chose the themes, wrote or approved the messaging, and decided how the personas would interact with audiences.
What did the winner receive?
Kenza Layli’s announced prize package included:
- $5,000 in cash;
- an Imagine Creator mentorship program valued at $3,000; and
- public-relations support valued at more than $5,000.
Reports commonly described the combined package for the top three as worth approximately $20,000. Because accounts varied in how they valued the non-cash elements, it is more accurate to separate the $5,000 cash award from the announced mentorship and PR support rather than describe the entire package as cash.

Why did Miss AI attract so much attention?
The pageant brought together three developments that were already expanding rapidly:
- Generative media: AI tools could produce and modify realistic images, videos, and audio.
- Virtual influencers: Fictional digital personalities could maintain social profiles and communicate with followers through human-managed accounts.
- Creator monetization: Platforms gave creators ways to turn attention and communities into revenue.
Miss AI made the production process part of the spectacle. Prompting, image correction, continuity, persona design, and social growth mattered alongside the final appearance. The competition offered a public demonstration of how a virtual influencer is assembled and managed as a media property.
It also made a usually hidden labor structure easier to see. A viewer might encounter a “contestant,” but behind that identity could be a team handling generation, editing, writing, moderation, account management, and business decisions. The pageant’s contestants were artificial personas; the competition was ultimately powered by human creators.
What were the criticisms of Miss AI?
Synthetic beauty standards
The most obvious criticism was that AI-generated pageants could reproduce or intensify the same beauty standards associated with conventional pageants. Generated faces and bodies can be endlessly curated, corrected, and polished. Unlike human contestants, virtual figures do not age, tire, gain weight, develop blemishes, or visibly struggle with the physical limitations of a real body.
Critics warned that this computer-generated “perfection” could add to unrealistic expectations for women and girls. The concern is not simply that the contestants are attractive. It is that artificial images may present an appearance that is difficult or impossible for real people to achieve, while still being treated as a standard for comparison.
Disclosure and authenticity
A second issue is whether audiences can always tell when a persona is artificial and who is operating the account. A virtual influencer can appear to speak in the first person, share lifestyle content, and express political or social positions. Without clear disclosure, viewers may mistake a carefully constructed character for an independent person.
The competition’s existence does not by itself answer how disclosure should work. It does, however, highlight why labeling matters: audiences need to distinguish among an AI-generated image, a fictional persona, a human creator’s statement, and a real person’s lived experience.

Saying that “an AI won” is an understandable shorthand, but it is incomplete. Kenza Layli was the title-bearing AI-generated persona. The award also recognized the human creators who built her appearance, identity, content, and audience.

This authorship question will remain important as virtual characters become more sophisticated. If the technical and creative decisions are made by humans, then awards for AI personas are also awards for direction, prompting, editing, storytelling, brand management, and community building.
What happened after the 2024 competition?
WAICA’s current website says that Miss AI was being evolved for 2025 under the name AI Woman of the Year. The stated direction placed greater emphasis on diversity, purpose-led messaging, and realism. The page described a planned launch in July with a six-week run, but the available material does not confirm a completed 2025 competition or identify a 2025 winner.
That means it is not safe to state that a 2025 successor definitely took place or to name a titleholder without a later official announcement. The successor concept is documented; its completed results are not established by the evidence reviewed here.

WAICA also identifies TwoShot as a partner or associated service for AI music creation. That places the event within a broader creator-tool ecosystem, but it does not establish that TwoShot was an affiliate opportunity or that contestants were required to use it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Miss AI Universe the same competition?
No connection has been established in the available evidence. The official Miss AI Universe website promotes a separate international AI pageant with candidates for a 2026 competition. Its stated themes include beauty, creativity, technology, originality, personality, and cultural representation.
Miss AI Universe should not automatically be described as a continuation of Fanvue’s 2024 Miss AI or as a WAICA event. The similar name is not proof of common ownership, operation, or editorial continuity. Unless a later official announcement confirms a relationship, the two projects should be treated as separate brands.
What does Miss AI reveal about virtual influencers?
Miss AI is best understood as a competition in human-directed synthetic identity. The visible contestant is generated, but the underlying product is a managed media presence. Success depends on maintaining continuity across images, choosing a voice and purpose, attracting followers, and converting attention into an audience relationship.
That model has practical consequences:
- Realism is a production problem: Hands, eyes, lighting, body proportions, and recurring facial features require careful correction and consistency.
- Identity is designed: A name, nationality, style, cause, and personality are part of the character architecture.
- Engagement is measurable: Followers, comments, activity, and growth can influence how a virtual persona is evaluated.
- Commercial value comes from trust and attention: A creator may use social profiles, subscriptions, sponsorships, or other monetization channels, but the audience should understand what is artificial and who is responsible for the account.
For that reason, the pageant was not just a novelty contest. It was also a public test of whether audiences, platforms, and advertisers would treat virtual people as a new category of creator.

Bottom line
Miss AI was the 2024 Fanvue and WAICA competition that crowned Kenza Layli, a Moroccan AI-generated influencer, as its first winner. It judged not only visual appeal but also the technical craft and audience-building behind a virtual persona.
The event’s lasting importance is its ambiguity. It presented fictional digital women as pageant contestants while rewarding the real people who created and managed them. It demonstrated the commercial possibilities of virtual influencers, but it also raised serious questions about disclosure, authorship, and whether synthetic beauty standards make existing social pressures even harder to escape.
