Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe best December 2024 Prime Video picks were The Sticky, Secret Level, Red One, A Quiet Place: Day One, and The Bikeriders. This historical U.S. guide also covers the month’s holiday specials, reality competition, documentary and classic-TV additions, live sports, and notable movies from the December 1 catalog influx.
For a December 2024 Prime Video watchlist, start with The Sticky, Secret Level, Red One, A Quiet Place: Day One, and The Bikeriders. Together, they cover an unusual crime comedy, game-inspired animation, a large-scale Christmas adventure, franchise horror, and a serious ensemble drama.
Prime Video’s U.S. December slate was much broader than those five recommendations. It combined new Amazon originals, licensed movies, holiday specials, older television series, reality competition, live sports, and a particularly large wave of movie additions on December 1. This is a curated guide to the titles with the clearest appeal—not a promise that every movie was included at no extra charge or remained available after December 2024.
The five I would start with
The Sticky — December 6
Best for: viewers who want a quirky, fast-moving crime comedy with an unusual real-world hook.

This six-episode series follows Ruth Landry, a Canadian maple-syrup farmer played by Margo Martindale, who becomes involved in a heist alongside a Boston mobster and a French-Canadian security guard. The premise draws on the real Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, but The Sticky is a fictionalized dark comedy rather than a documentary retelling.
Its short episode count makes it one of December’s easiest original series to finish in a weekend. The combination of an inherently strange crime, a veteran lead, and a compact caper structure gives it a more distinctive identity than a routine holiday release.
Secret Level — December 10
Best for: gamers and animation fans who prefer short, high-concept stories to one continuous plot.
#1 Best Overall
- The Help (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy)
Secret Level is a Prime Video original adult-animated anthology containing 15 stories set in the worlds of notable video games. Tim Miller—whose credits include Deadpool and Love, Death + Robots—created the series. Its voice cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, Gabriel Luna, Temuera Morrison, Ariana Greenblatt, and Claudia Doumit.
This is better approached as an anthology than as a conventional binge. Viewers can watch an episode at a time, compare how each game universe translates to animation, or use it as a sampling menu for a group with different gaming interests. Familiarity with every featured game is not necessary to understand the basic anthology format, though individual episodes will naturally appeal more strongly to fans of their source worlds.
Red One — December 12
Best for: a crowd-pleasing holiday movie night built around action, comedy, Santa mythology, and recognizable stars.
Dwayne Johnson plays the head of Santa’s security operation, while Chris Evans plays a bounty hunter recruited after Santa is kidnapped. Amazon MGM Studios positioned the film as a holiday action movie, and its December 12 streaming premiere made it the month’s most conspicuous seasonal movie launch.
Red One is best described as an effects-driven Christmas adventure—not a quiet or particularly traditional holiday romance. It suits viewers who want a large-scale spectacle and a family movie-night alternative to familiar animated specials, although parents should check the film’s current rating and suitability for younger children before watching.

A Quiet Place: Day One — December 31
Best for: horror viewers and fans of the A Quiet Place films who want to see the invasion at its beginning.
Rank #2
- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
This prequel follows Samira, played by Lupita Nyong’o, and Eric, played by Joseph Quinn, during the initial alien attack on New York City. The sound-sensitive creatures remain the central hook, but the urban setting gives the story a different scale from the more enclosed survival situations associated with the earlier films.
Its December 31 listing made it a late-month option for viewers looking for a major theatrical release at home. The listing establishes a scheduled Prime Video arrival; it should not be read as a guarantee that the film was included at no additional charge in every country, market, or Prime Video plan.
The Bikeriders — December 10
Best for: viewers seeking an adult crime drama rather than a seasonal comedy or franchise spectacle.
Starring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy, The Bikeriders depicts the rise and internal conflict of a Midwestern motorcycle club. It gives the December recommendations a grounded ensemble drama with a period setting and a more serious tone.
This is a useful choice for a night when the goal is character-driven crime storytelling instead of a fast binge or a holiday theme. Its presence also broadens the month’s selection beyond Prime Video originals and family-oriented programming.
More December 2024 releases worth watching
Jack in Time for Christmas — December 3
Jack Whitehall leads this hybrid scripted comedy and travelogue, racing from the United States to the United Kingdom in time for Christmas. Michael Bublé, Dave Bautista, Rebel Wilson, Jimmy Fallon, Daisy May Cooper, and Tom Davis are among the featured appearances.
Rank #3
It is a short, celebrity-filled option for viewers who want holiday comedy without committing to a full-length seasonal drama. The travelogue format also makes it a natural choice for casual group viewing.

Pop Culture Jeopard! — December 4
This Prime Video original game show supplies an episodic, low-commitment option for households that want to watch together and play along. Its pop-culture focus distinguishes it from the broader general-knowledge format associated with traditional Jeopardy! programming.
Beast Games — December 19
Best for: viewers who want reality-competition spectacle and large-scale physical, mental, and social challenges.
Created by MrBeast, Beast Games puts more than 1,000 contestants into competition for a reported $5 million prize. It is a major attention-driving launch, but it should be approached as a reality event built around scale and spectacle—not as a scripted drama or conventional documentary series.
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations — December 1
Best for: food, travel, documentary, and culture viewers looking for a substantial catalog binge.
Seasons 1 through 8 of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations were listed among the December 1 television additions. The series is the strongest documentary-oriented recommendation in this guide and offers considerably more viewing time than a single holiday special. Availability of individual seasons can change because this is licensed catalog programming rather than a new Prime Video original.
Rank #4
Holiday viewing beyond Red One
- Jack in Time for Christmas: the short, celebrity-driven comedy choice.
- Red One: the action-heavy, effects-led choice for a larger group.
- An All Dogs Christmas Carol: a nostalgic catalog option for family viewing, subject to current availability and age suitability.
- All Dogs Go to Heaven 2: another animated, family-oriented catalog title listed among the December movie additions.
These titles serve different kinds of holiday evenings. Red One is built around spectacle, while the Whitehall special is more compact and comedy-led. The two animated catalog titles are better suited to viewers specifically looking for nostalgic family programming.
December picks by mood and genre
For gaming and animation fans
Secret Level is the obvious first choice: 15 separate stories, adult animation, and recognizable game-world settings. Younger viewers may also find Angry Birds Mystery Island, part 3, arriving December 3, more appropriate, depending on the household’s preferred age range.
For horror and darker mystery
A Quiet Place: Day One is the month’s major franchise-horror recommendation. The December 1 movie additions also included A Haunting in Venice, Murder on the Orient Express, Green Room, and Fatal Attraction. They offer different kinds of tension: supernatural mystery, classic whodunit, brutal survival thriller, and psychological suspense.
Recommended Free Tools
For serious drama and modern classics
Alongside The Bikeriders, the catalog wave included Almost Famous, Amistad, After Hours, and Once Upon a Time in the West. These are useful choices when the aim is a well-known film with more substantial dramatic or historical ambition than a casual background watch.
For action and comic-book viewing
The December 1 movie list included Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition, Justice League, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Total Recall. The “Ultimate Edition” label matters for viewers specifically seeking the longer version of Batman v Superman, but viewers should still verify the edition displayed in their own Prime Video storefront.
For easy group comedies
Anger Management, Last Vegas, and Major League were among the recognizable comedy and group-viewing additions. Back to School offers another nostalgic option, while Monster Trucks may suit families looking for a lighter adventure.

Optional equipment for a Prime Video movie night
A compatible smart television, game console, phone, tablet, or computer is enough to watch Prime Video; a separate device is not required for everyone. If your television does not have a compatible Prime Video app, an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is an optional way to add streaming access through an HDMI port. Check your television’s available HDMI input, power requirements, network connection, and 4K support before buying. The hardware can simplify access, but it does not change which titles are available in your country or whether a particular movie requires rental or purchase.
What “streaming on Prime Video” meant in this December 2024 guide
This is a historical U.S. guide to the December 2024 release slate. Prime Video catalogs are shaped by territory, licensing agreements, subscription tier, and time. A title listed as a December arrival may have been available through the Prime Video service, but that does not automatically mean it was included with every Prime membership, available in every country, or free of rental and purchase charges.
Availability can also differ between the U.S. and other markets. For example, Amazon’s India-focused December roundup included titles such as La Virgen Roja, Agni, Bandish Bandits season 2, Girls Will Be Girls, and Culpa Tuya. Those listings should not be silently transferred to a U.S. release calendar.
Before planning a watch party, search for the title in your own Prime Video app and check whether it is marked as included, available through an add-on channel, or offered only for rental or purchase. This is especially important for licensed movies and for readers checking the list after December 2024.
