AEW did not leave television for Max. The January 1, 2025 arrangement added live U.S. streaming of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision while keeping Dynamite on TBS and Collision on TNT. Max was later renamed HBO Max, and the partnership expanded to include live AEW pay-per-view purchases.
AEW did not leave television for Max
The key point is simple: All Elite Wrestling’s move to Max was a streaming expansion, not a complete departure from linear television. Beginning January 1, 2025, U.S. subscribers could stream AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision live on Max, while the weekly shows continued airing on their established Warner Bros. Discovery networks: Dynamite on TBS and Collision on TNT.
Max was later renamed HBO Max. That change was a rebranding of the streaming service, not a separate AEW rights deal. As of 2026, official AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery listings continue to show the weekly programs on TBS and TNT, with HBO Max providing the U.S. streaming layer.
What Warner Bros. Discovery and AEW announced
On October 2, 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery and AEW announced a multi-year, multi-platform renewal of their existing relationship. The agreement expanded how AEW programming would be distributed across WBD’s television networks and streaming service.

The original announcement confirmed that:
- AEW Dynamite would remain on TBS.
- AEW Collision would remain on TNT.
- Both programs would receive live, exclusive U.S. streaming simulcasts on Max beginning January 1, 2025.
- Programming shown on WBD’s networks would also be available on Max on demand.
- The streaming library would expand over time to include older AEW programming and other archival material.
WBD described the deal as the next stage of its five-year relationship with AEW, rather than as a replacement for the existing television arrangement. Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement did not describe AEW as becoming exclusive to Max.
The timeline: from Max to HBO Max
| Date | Development |
|---|---|
| October 2, 2024 | WBD and AEW announced a multi-year renewal covering television, streaming, and expanded content availability. |
| January 1, 2025 | The live Max simulcasts began. Dynamite remained on TBS, and Collision remained on TNT. |
| May 14, 2025 | WBD announced that Max would be rebranded as HBO Max during the summer. |
| September 3, 2025 | WBD and AEW confirmed that live AEW pay-per-view events would begin streaming on HBO Max, starting with All Out on September 20, 2025. |
| 2026 | Official AEW and WBD pages continued to list HBO Max as a U.S. streaming and pay-per-view outlet, alongside television and other event distributors. |
WBD’s announcement about the name change explained that Max would become HBO Max during the summer of 2025. The rebrand should therefore be understood as a platform-label change: the service carrying AEW’s streaming programming changed its name, but that did not mean AEW suddenly moved under a new rights agreement. WBD’s rebranding announcement provides the relevant context.
Where to watch AEW’s weekly shows
| Program | U.S. television home | U.S. streaming availability |
|---|---|---|
| AEW Dynamite | TBS | Live simulcast and on-demand availability through HBO Max, subject to the current service and event listings |
| AEW Collision | TNT | Live simulcast and on-demand availability through HBO Max, subject to the current service and event listings |
This distinction matters because “AEW moved to Max” can suggest that TBS and TNT stopped carrying the programs. They did not. HBO Max is an additional way for U.S. viewers to watch the shows, particularly for people who do not receive the relevant cable or satellite channels.
The arrangement also does not automatically establish identical availability in every country. The original live-simulcast language was specifically directed at U.S. subscribers. International viewers should check AEW’s official listings for their territory rather than assume that HBO Max carries the same weekly programming everywhere.
What is available on demand?
The agreement included on-demand access to programming that aired on WBD networks. It also contemplated a rolling expansion of older AEW material, including episodes of Dynamite, Collision, Rampage, pay-per-view library content available through the end of 2024, and more than 700 hours of AEW programming.

- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
The archive has not been presented as one single, completed upload. WBD’s later HBO Max programming schedules indicate that additional material has continued to arrive in stages. For example, the March 2026 schedule listed additional 2023 episodes of Dynamite and Rampage, while the August 2026 schedule listed AEW programming from 2024. That supports describing the library as rolling and expanding, not as a fixed archive containing every AEW event.
Availability can change by title, date, territory, and platform. Viewers looking for a particular historical episode or pay-per-view should use the current HBO Max listing and AEW’s own programming information instead of relying on the original announcement’s general archive description. WBD’s HBO Max schedule materials illustrate how the archive has been added to over time.
AEW pay-per-view on HBO Max is a separate purchase issue
The pay-per-view portion of the deal was initially easy to misread. The October 2024 announcement said that AEW and WBD intended to distribute live pay-per-view events on Max at a discounted price for subscribers, but it did not say that every AEW pay-per-view would be included at no extra charge with an ordinary Max subscription.

The later September 2025 announcement supplied the practical confirmation: live AEW pay-per-view streaming on HBO Max began with All Out on September 20, 2025. The model is best understood as:
- A subscription provides access to the relevant HBO Max service and its included programming.
- A major AEW pay-per-view may require a separate event purchase.
- Eligible subscribers may receive a discounted event price, depending on the current offer.
- Other purchase and viewing outlets can remain available at the same time.
In other words, readers should not interpret “AEW on HBO Max” as “all AEW pay-per-views are free with the subscription.” Pricing, eligibility, and event availability should be checked for the specific show. The official AEW pay-per-view viewing guide lists HBO Max as a U.S. outlet for current events and identifies other options by event and territory.

For viewers comparing the weekly shows with pay-per-view, the practical distinction is:
| Type of AEW content | Typical HBO Max question |
|---|---|
| Weekly Dynamite and Collision | Is the live program available to U.S. subscribers, and is it also available on demand afterward? |
| AEW pay-per-view | Is this event available in my territory, and does it require a separate purchase? |
| Older episodes and archive material | Has the particular event or episode been added to the current catalog? |
If your main goal is to watch AEW on HBO Max, verify both the subscription requirement and the event-specific purchase terms before ordering a pay-per-view. The official AEW guide also lists alternatives such as Prime Video, traditional pay-per-view, DIRECTV, and PPV.com where applicable.

The clearest confirmed streaming arrangement applies to the United States. International distribution remains more varied. Depending on the event and territory, AEW’s official listings may point viewers to different services or purchase methods.
For the events covered by the current official guide:
- United States: HBO Max is listed as an outlet for AEW pay-per-view events, alongside other options.
- Canada: MyAEW.com is listed for the cited event information.
- United Kingdom and other international markets: availability and purchase paths can differ by event and country.
That means a U.S.-focused statement such as “Dynamite streams on HBO Max” should not automatically be rewritten as a worldwide claim. Rights, blackout rules, platform catalogs, and pay-per-view outlets are territory-specific.

What has not been publicly confirmed?
WBD and AEW announced a multi-year renewal, but the public announcement does not disclose every contractual detail. Specifically, it does not establish:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- the full financial value of the agreement;
- an exact expiration date;
- every internal rights term or exclusivity provision; or
- that the same distribution arrangement will continue unchanged beyond the currently documented period.
Public estimates, reports, and fan discussions may offer theories about the contract’s value or end date, but those should not be treated as confirmed without a primary filing or an on-record statement from the companies. The defensible description is that AEW and WBD announced a multi-year renewal, launched the U.S. streaming expansion in 2025, and continued listing the arrangement through 2026.
The bottom line
AEW’s “move to Max” was not a move away from TBS and TNT. Starting January 1, 2025, U.S. viewers gained live streaming access to Dynamite and Collision on Max while the shows continued on their respective WBD television networks. Max later became HBO Max, and the partnership subsequently expanded to live AEW pay-per-view purchases, beginning with All Out in September 2025.
The most accurate shorthand is therefore: AEW added HBO Max as a major U.S. streaming and pay-per-view outlet; it did not become HBO Max-exclusive, and a normal subscription should not be assumed to include every pay-per-view at no additional cost.
