On March 1, 2026, Tubi began rolling out a large collection of classic Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera programming in the United States. For fans, the practical change is straightforward: a substantial group of older animated favorites is becoming available through a free, ad-supported streaming service rather than being limited to scattered subscription catalogs, television reruns, or physical media.
The move is a meaningful redistribution of Cartoon Network’s archival viewing experience—but it is not the same thing as Cartoon Network shutting down. Tubi is adding or making available many classic titles, and the rollout may be staggered. The exact catalog, launch timing, and availability can vary by market and may change as licensing agreements change.

That list spans more than one programming era. It includes Cartoon Network originals, DC animated series, Warner Bros. library cartoons, and Hanna-Barbera-associated favorites. The result is less a single new Cartoon Network channel than a large on-demand collection built around the broader Warner animation family.
Did everything arrive on March 1?
Not necessarily. Tubi’s March programming announcement established March 1 as the start date for the relevant programming, while launch coverage associated additional titles with later points in the month. Readers should therefore avoid interpreting the date as proof that every announced series became available simultaneously.
The safest way to check a specific show is to search for it directly in Tubi’s current catalog. A title may appear later than the initial announcement, have only selected seasons, or become unavailable when a licensing window ends. Availability is also market-specific; the evidence for this rollout is strongest for the United States, not for every country where Tubi operates.
Why this matters to Cartoon Network fans
Older animated shows have become surprisingly difficult to follow across streaming services. A series may move from one subscription platform to another, be represented by only a few seasons, or disappear altogether when a licensing agreement expires. Even well-known programs can be unavailable in a particular country despite belonging to a major media library.

Tubi changes the access model for the titles it carries. Instead of adding another monthly subscription, viewers can watch classic Cartoon Network shows free on Tubi, with advertising supporting the service. That makes the platform especially useful for casual viewing, family households, and fans who want to revisit a show without paying for an entire premium bundle.
There are trade-offs. Free streaming generally means commercial interruptions, and Tubi’s catalog is not permanent ownership. A show’s presence today does not guarantee that it will remain there indefinitely. Tubi also does not represent the complete Cartoon Network archive, so a favorite series may still require another service, a digital purchase, or a disc release.
Tubi vs. Max: Which service is better for Cartoon Network shows?
Tubi and Max serve different purposes. The central distinction is not simply the number of cartoons on each service, but how viewers access them.
| Service | Access model | What it means for Cartoon Network fans |
|---|---|---|
| Tubi | Free, ad-supported streaming | A newly expanded collection of classic Cartoon Network and related Warner Bros. animation, subject to catalog and territory limits. |
| Max | Paid subscription streaming | Select Cartoon Network, Warner Bros., DC, and related programming alongside Max and HBO content. |
| Physical media | One-time purchase | More durable access to shows that have received DVD or other physical releases, without depending on a streaming license. |
Max remains relevant for viewers who already subscribe to it or want a broader Warner Bros., HBO, and DC offering. Its official help information describes access to select Cartoon Network programming across phones, tablets, computers, smart televisions, streaming players, set-top boxes, and game consoles, although supported devices and availability can depend on the market and provider.

It is important not to treat Max as a complete Cartoon Network archive. Its selection is not identical to Tubi’s, and neither service should be assumed to carry every Cartoon Network show or every season. Before subscribing specifically for one series, search the service’s current listing and confirm that the desired episodes are included.
Why physical media still matters
Streaming is convenient, but licensing changes are its built-in weakness. If a show is especially important to you, a disc set can provide more dependable access than a rotating streaming catalog. That is particularly relevant for Courage the Cowardly Dog, whose complete-series release is listed by major retailers as part of the Cartoon Network Hall of Fame DVD line.
If you want a copy that will not disappear when a streaming license changes, the Courage the Cowardly Dog complete-series DVD is a more durable option. Check the edition, episode contents, region compatibility, seller, price, and current stock before buying; those details can change, and a retail listing does not guarantee that a particular marketplace currently has inventory.
What this does—and does not—say about Cartoon Network
The March 1 development should be understood as a streaming-library licensing move. It does not establish that the Cartoon Network television channel has closed, that the Cartoon Network brand has ended, or that all Cartoon Network programming has migrated to Tubi.

“Shake-up” is justified because the location of many familiar shows matters to viewers. A large group of recognizable programs is being repositioned on a free service, potentially making them easier to find for people who do not subscribe to Max or another paid platform. But the change is not a total archival transfer. It is a new distribution point for a significant selection of titles.
How to find the shows
- Open Tubi in the United States through its supported website, app, or television device.
- Search for the specific series rather than relying only on a general Cartoon Network category.
- Check whether the listing includes the full series or only selected seasons and episodes.
- Confirm that the title is playable in your location and that the available version is the one you want.
- Expect advertising and remember that the listing can change later.
If Tubi does not show the series you want, compare the current Max catalog, check legitimate digital purchase options, or look for an authorized physical release. Avoid assuming that a title’s presence in one country guarantees access in another.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The bottom line for fans
March 1, 2026, marked a major new distribution moment for classic animation: Tubi began making a broad collection of Cartoon Network and related Warner Bros. titles available through its free, ad-supported service in the U.S. Fans can look for shows including Courage the Cowardly Dog, Teen Titans, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Justice League.
But this is a redistribution, not Cartoon Network’s disappearance and not a guarantee of a complete archive. Check Tubi’s current listing for the exact show, season, territory, and availability window. For favorites that you want to keep accessible regardless of future licensing changes, physical media remains the more durable choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cartoon Network shutting down because of the March 1 change?
No. The evidence describes a Tubi streaming-library rollout, not the closure of the Cartoon Network television channel or the end of the Cartoon Network brand.
Does Tubi have every Cartoon Network show?
Tubi’s U.S. rollout includes many classic titles, but it does not represent the entire Cartoon Network catalog. Availability can also differ by country, season, and licensing window.
What is the difference between Tubi and Max for Cartoon Network fans?
Tubi is free and ad-supported, while Max is a paid service carrying select Cartoon Network programming alongside broader Warner Bros., HBO, DC, and Max content. Their catalogs are not identical.
Is there a physical-media alternative to streaming Courage the Cowardly Dog?
Yes. A complete-series DVD, such as the Cartoon Network Hall of Fame release for Courage the Cowardly Dog, can provide more durable access than a changing streaming license. Confirm the edition and current availability before purchasing.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Tubi’s March 1, 2026, U.S. rollout gives fans a free, ad-supported way to watch many classic Cartoon Network and related Warner Bros. shows. It does not mean Cartoon Network has shut down or that Tubi has the complete catalog, so verify each show’s current listing—and consider physical media for long-term access.
