Super Bowl LIX—the 2025 Super Bowl—was played on Sunday, February 9, 2025. It is no longer a live event. For viewers in the United States, the simplest Roku option at the time was the Tubi app, which carried FOX’s Super Bowl broadcast free of charge with a free Tubi account. FOX and Tubi also offered 4K on compatible devices.
This guide is therefore an archival explanation of how the 2025 game was watched on Roku, not a promise that the same stream or rights are available now. Streaming rights can change for each Super Bowl.
The quick answer: use Tubi on Roku
During Super Bowl LIX, viewers in the U.S. could install Tubi on Roku, create or sign in to a free account, and find the event through Tubi’s live-TV or featured-programming areas. No paid live-TV subscription was necessary for the Tubi route.

How to install Tubi on Roku
- Turn on your Roku player or Roku TV and connect it to the internet.
- From the Roku Home screen, open the Streaming Store or app store. The exact label may differ by Roku model and Roku software version.
- Search for Tubi.
- Select the Tubi app and choose Add app.
- Open Tubi.
- Sign in to an existing Tubi account or create a free account. Tubi’s Super Bowl LIX viewing instructions required an account, even though the stream itself was free.
- During the event, look in Tubi’s live-TV, featured, or promoted programming areas for the Super Bowl stream.
If you added Tubi through the Roku website or mobile app but cannot see it on the television, go to Settings > System > System update > Check now. A manual update check can prompt Roku to refresh the channel list.
If you did not already own Roku hardware, an optional Roku streaming device could provide access to Tubi on a compatible television. A particular Roku model was not required by the 2025 viewing instructions; compatibility, software support, and the television’s available connections still matter.
What you needed
- A compatible Roku streaming player or Roku TV
- A working internet connection suitable for live video
- The Tubi app installed on Roku
- A free Tubi account
- A compatible television and Roku setup if attempting 4K playback
Was Super Bowl 2025 available in 4K on Roku?
Yes, the FOX/Tubi announcement described 4K availability on compatible devices. That qualification is important: the broadcast was not guaranteed to appear in 4K on every Roku player, Roku TV, television, HDMI connection, internet connection, or playback setup.

For 4K, the Roku device, television, HDMI path, internet connection, and particular stream all need to support the required format. If Tubi displayed the event in a lower resolution, that did not necessarily mean the app was malfunctioning; one part of the equipment or service path might not have met the compatibility requirements.
Other ways to watch the 2025 game
Local FOX station with an antenna
Viewers in an area with suitable reception could watch their local FOX affiliate over the air using an over-the-air TV antenna. This was a separate option from streaming Tubi through Roku and did not depend on the Roku app.
Reception varies by address. Distance from the transmitter, terrain, nearby buildings, building materials, antenna placement, and whether a local FOX affiliate serves the area can all affect the result. Check local reception before buying an antenna, and do not rely on an antenna as your only plan unless you have confirmed that FOX can be received at your location.
Paid live-TV streaming services
FOX also identified services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, and FuboTV as paid alternatives carrying FOX for the event. These services could be useful for someone who already had an eligible plan and local FOX availability, but they were not necessary merely to watch Super Bowl LIX because Tubi offered the principal free streaming route.

Roku troubleshooting checklist
Tubi does not appear in the Roku app store
- Open Roku’s app store directly on the device and search for Tubi.
- Confirm that the Roku is connected to the internet.
- If you added the app remotely through the Roku website or mobile app, go to Settings > System > System update > Check now.
- Remember that menu names can vary slightly by device and software version.
The stream will not start
- Check that the Roku is online by opening another streaming app.
- Close and reopen Tubi.
- Restart the Roku if the app remains unresponsive.
- Check for both Roku system updates and available Tubi app updates.
- Verify that the event was actually available in your location and at that time. The Super Bowl LIX stream was a U.S. viewing route tied to the 2025 event.
Tubi asks for an account
Create or sign in to a free Tubi account. The account prompt was expected: Tubi’s documentation required a free account for the Super Bowl LIX stream. It did not mean that a paid live-TV subscription was required.
4K is unavailable
Check the Roku model, television, HDMI cable and connection path, internet performance, and the resolution offered by the stream. The 4K option was limited to compatible setups, so not every Roku configuration could display it.
FOX does not work in another streaming app
A paid live-TV service may require an eligible plan, authentication, and local FOX availability. Confirm those requirements with the service rather than assuming that installing its Roku app provides access to every FOX broadcast.

An antenna gives poor reception
Move the antenna if possible, check whether your location is served by a local FOX affiliate, and verify reception before depending on it. Terrain, transmitter distance, construction materials, and placement can make one address work while a nearby address does not.

The Tubi arrangement described here applied to Super Bowl LIX in 2025. It should not be treated as evidence of the streaming rights for the 2026 Super Bowl or any later game. Before a future event, check the current NFL, FOX, broadcaster, and Roku listings for the confirmed channel, app, account requirements, location restrictions, and picture-quality options.
Frequently Asked Questions

Did every Roku device stream Super Bowl 2025 in 4K?
Not necessarily. FOX and Tubi described 4K as available on compatible devices. The Roku player or TV, television, HDMI path, internet connection, and stream all needed to support 4K.
Could I watch Super Bowl 2025 with an antenna instead of Roku?
A local FOX affiliate could also be received with an over-the-air antenna in areas with suitable reception. Availability depends on location, transmitter distance, terrain, buildings, antenna placement, and local affiliate coverage.
The Bottom Line
For the 2025 Super Bowl, Tubi on Roku was the easiest free U.S. streaming route. It required a free Tubi account, and 4K was available only on compatible setups. Because Super Bowl LIX took place on February 9, 2025, check current broadcaster and streaming listings rather than assuming the same arrangement applies to a later game.
