Why the advertised card changed
Two announced participants were removed from the final lineup for the same stated reason: visa issues. Dani Luna could not compete in the planned Knockouts World Championship challenge, so Zaria became Léi Yǐng Lee’s challenger. Leon Slater was also forced to withdraw from the triple threat, with Joe Hendry taking his place.
The World Championship match changed in another important way before the show. Mike Santana had regained the title from Frankie Kazarian on iMPACT! shortly before Genesis. Kazarian’s rematch clause set up the Texas Death Match, with Nic Nemeth appointed special guest referee.
