Apple TV becomes Formula 1’s exclusive U.S. live home beginning with the 2026 season under an announced five-year partnership. But Apple is not treating F1 as merely a broadcast channel: Apple Music, Apple Sports, Apple News, Apple Maps, and Apple Podcasts each add a different part of the race-weekend experience.
That means live sessions and Multiview on Apple TV, free live audio and driver playlists in Apple Music, timing and standings in Apple Sports, editorial coverage in News and Podcasts, and circuit and city information in Maps.
Apple TV becomes the U.S. home of live Formula 1
Beginning with the 2026 season, Apple TV is the exclusive U.S. live home for Formula 1 under an announced five-year partnership. The agreement covers every Free Practice session, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix, both live and on demand.
This is more than a conventional broadcast-rights change. Apple is using F1 to connect Apple TV with Apple Music, Apple Sports, Apple News, Apple Maps, and Apple Podcasts. The result is an ecosystem built around watching the race, following timing away from the screen, discovering the host city, listening to live audio, and catching up on analysis afterward.

What the Apple TV F1 package includes
The Apple TV app has a dedicated F1 area rather than treating the championship as just another live channel. It brings together the race calendar, full replays, highlights, team updates, pre-season programming, rule-change explainers, and introductions to the 2026 cars and teams.
For viewers who cannot watch a full Grand Prix, Apple also offers spoiler-free Race in 30 recaps. That makes the service useful for both committed race-day viewers and fans who need a shorter way to catch up.
Every major session, live and on demand
- Free Practice sessions
- Qualifying
- Sprint sessions
- Grand Prix races
- Highlights and full replays
- Selected editorial explainers and team coverage
- Spoiler-free Race in 30 recaps
Apple’s official F1 viewing information also says that every practice session is available without a subscription, and that selected race weekends may receive free access in the Apple TV app. The exact free sessions and promotional access can change, so viewers should check the listing for the specific Grand Prix. The full subscription remains the straightforward option for following the complete live season.
A more data-heavy presentation
Apple and Formula 1 are positioning the live production as a technical upgrade for fans who want more than the traditional world feed. The announced presentation includes:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- 4K video with Dolby Vision
- 5.1 surround sound
- English and Spanish commentary
- Up to 30 additional live feeds
- Driver onboard cameras
- Real-time telemetry and timing
- Driver Tracker
- A mixed onboard feed
- Separate podium feeds following the drivers running first, second, and third
The extra feeds are designed to let viewers decide what matters most at a given moment. A fan following a midfield battle can move away from the main broadcast, while a driver-focused viewer can stay with an onboard camera or team radio.
Multiview is the headline feature for data-focused fans
Multiview allows up to four live feeds to appear simultaneously. Apple and Formula 1 describe both preconfigured team layouts and customizable layouts, so viewers can combine the main race, an onboard camera, timing information, and another live angle.
The reported supported devices for Multiview include Apple TV 4K, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. The feature is particularly relevant to fans who normally keep a television, laptop, tablet, or second monitor open during a race to follow timing and onboard footage. It is also why Apple TV 4K is the most direct dedicated big-screen option for viewers who want the full living-room version of the service—not because the hardware is required for every way of watching, but because it is specifically part of the Multiview experience.
F1 TV Premium is included for U.S. Apple TV subscribers
U.S. Apple TV subscribers can also receive access to F1 TV Premium at no additional cost after linking their Apple Account. Formula 1 describes F1 TV Premium as including custom Multiview, UHD, team radio, and related premium features.

Apple’s F1 ecosystem, service by service
Each Apple service has a different job. Apple TV is the live video destination, while the other apps fill in the information, audio, travel, and editorial gaps around a race weekend.
| Apple service | What it does for F1 | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Apple TV | Live and on-demand sessions, replays, highlights, extra feeds, Multiview, explainers, and recaps | Watching the race and catching up on video |
| Apple Music | Free live race audio, driver playlists, DJ mixes, and race-themed music programming | Following a weekend while driving, working, or attending an event |
| Apple Sports | Live timing, leaderboards, standings, updates, schedules, and Live Activities | Tracking F1 without opening a video stream |
| Apple News | Personalized articles, highlights, live blogs, and notifications | Reading analysis and receiving major-news alerts |

| Apple Podcasts | An F1 hub for on-demand Formula 1 and racing podcasts | Listening to analysis and discussion after sessions |
Apple Music turns race weekend into a live audio experience
Apple Music is not a substitute for the Apple TV video subscription. Instead, it provides a separate audio layer that is useful when a viewer cannot keep a race on screen.
The launch plan includes free live audio broadcasts of races, driver-curated playlists, DJ mixes, and Formula 1: Sounds of the Circuit, a playlist built around the culture and energy of each venue. Driver playlists announced by Formula 1 include selections from Isack Hadjar, Esteban Ocon, and Oliver Bearman. The launch programming also included DJ mixes such as work from Anna Lunoe and an Apple Music Radio conversation with Max Verstappen hosted by Ebro Darden.

Sergio “Checo” Pérez supplied a personal driver playlist, while Dímelo Flow created a Miami-focused DJ mix.
The practical distinction is important. The audio commentary is free programming on Apple Music; it does not automatically give an Apple Music subscriber access to Apple TV’s live video coverage. It is most useful for commuting, preparing for a race weekend, or following an event when video is inconvenient.
Apple Sports is the score and timing layer, not the video broadcast
Apple Sports is a free iPhone app for following F1 without opening the live stream. It provides real-time leaderboards, driver and constructor standings, and live updates for Practice, Qualifying, Sprint sessions, and races.
It also supports:
- Live Activities on the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch
- Race scheduling and reminders
- Shareable Grand Prix game cards
- My Sports preferences for following F1
- Synchronization of F1 interests across Apple Sports, Apple TV, and Apple News
That makes Sports useful in several situations: checking the order during a meeting, following timing while watching the race on another screen, or keeping up with a session without using mobile data for a video stream. Apple Sports can provide a quick route to watch live on Apple TV, but Apple’s materials do not position the app itself as the place for the complete race video.

Apple News adds articles, live blogs, and alerts
Apple News provides personalized F1 coverage from publishers including The Athletic, ESPN, and Motor Sport. The F1 experience includes highlights, race live blogs from The Athletic, and optional notifications for major headlines, breaking news, and race results.
Following F1 in Apple News also synchronizes the reader’s interests with Apple TV and Apple Sports. In practical terms, someone who follows the championship in News can receive a related shortcut to the live session or see the same competition reflected in the Sports app.
Availability can depend on the United States, the publisher, and the applicable subscription or regional arrangement. The presence of a publisher in Apple’s F1 announcement should not be read as a guarantee that every article or feature is available in every country or to every Apple News user.
Apple Maps makes the Grand Prix a destination
Maps is the clearest example of Apple treating F1 as an in-person experience rather than only a television property. For selected races, Apple Maps can provide custom Grand Prix details such as:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Circuit maps with turn numbers
- Grandstand locations
- Custom 3D landmarks, including the F1 pit building
- Entry gates
- Road closures
- Updated transit schedules
- Pedestrian walkways
Apple also created a 2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World guide covering all 24 Grand Prix circuits. For the Australian Grand Prix, a Hyperlocal guide highlighted Melbourne cafés, museums, and nightlife. The Miami update likewise highlighted circuit information and local places to eat, shop, and explore.
These features should supplement—not replace—the official directions supplied by the race organizer, circuit, or local authorities. Maps availability is described as applying to selected races, and detailed gates, closures, transit information, and 3D features should not be assumed for every circuit.
Apple’s Miami update also documented live F1 screenings at more than 50 U.S. IMAX locations. That was a race-weekend event activation rather than a permanent feature of the Apple TV subscription, so future screening availability will depend on the specific race and local schedule.
Podcasts provide the on-demand audio side
Apple Podcasts has an F1 hub collecting popular Formula 1 and racing podcasts. It serves a different purpose from Apple Music: Podcasts is for on-demand shows, interviews, and editorial discussion, while Apple Music carries the announced live race audio and music programming.

That separation gives fans a fuller audio routine around a weekend. Apple Music can accompany a live session, while Podcasts can provide analysis before the next race or discussion after the result is known.
What about Apple Fitness+?
Apple’s original partnership announcement said it would amplify F1 across Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+, while identifying Apple Sports as the live-updates app. However, the later detailed F1 integration announcement did not identify a new F1 Fitness+ workout series or a specific 2026 race-broadcast feature.
Apple Fitness+ does have an existing F1 connection: Apple previously announced a Time to Walk episode featuring driver Yuki Tsunoda. That is relevant background, but it should not be described as a new 2026 F1 training program without a separate announcement.
Drive to Survive is on Apple TV, but Netflix remains involved
For the first time, U.S. viewers can watch Formula 1: Drive to Survive on both Netflix and Apple TV. Season 8 covers the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →This does not make Netflix the full-season U.S. live broadcaster. Apple TV remains the exclusive live home for the season’s F1 sessions and races, while Netflix’s involvement is tied to specific programming. Formula 1 also states that the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix will stream on both Apple TV and Netflix in the United States.
The useful way to understand the arrangement is:
- Apple TV: the season-wide U.S. destination for live F1 coverage, with the announced Canadian Grand Prix simulcast as a specific exception or arrangement.
- Netflix: a home for Drive to Survive and the announced Canadian Grand Prix stream, not the general live broadcaster for the full season.
Drive to Survive is not an Apple Original. Its availability on Apple TV expands Apple’s F1 programming hub, but the series remains associated with Netflix as well.

Apple TV F1 coverage is not limited to Apple-branded hardware. Apple’s viewing page lists support for Apple devices, Android devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, and the web at tv.apple.com.
Key software and hardware requirements
- iPhone: iOS 26.2 or later
- Apple TV hardware: Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD with tvOS 26.2 or later
- Other supported options: eligible Macs, smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, Android devices, and web browsers
- Multiview: reported for Apple TV 4K, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro
For a large-screen setup, an Apple TV 4K is the most purpose-built choice among Apple’s listed hardware options, particularly for viewers who want Multiview and a dedicated television interface. It is optional: the service is also designed to work through supported televisions, consoles, streaming devices, mobile devices, and the web.

Anyone using an external streaming box should also confirm that the television, receiver, and connection support the desired video and audio formats. The availability of a 4K Dolby Vision stream does not mean every screen or setup will display those formats.
Family Sharing and subscription boundaries
Apple says an Apple TV subscription can be shared through Family Sharing with up to five other family members. The subscription does not automatically include third-party branded subscription services or content that is separately offered for rental or purchase inside the Apple TV app. That qualification matters when browsing the broader Apple TV catalog: seeing a title in the app does not necessarily mean it is included in the base subscription.
Price and free-access caveats
An official Apple update from April 2026 listed Apple TV at $12.99 per month and included a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. A February 2026 report listed a $99 annual option and noted possible access through Apple One and some carrier deals. Because prices, trials, annual plans, bundles, and eligibility can change, the current Apple checkout page should be treated as the final authority before subscribing.
The main access choices are therefore:
- Try free access when it is offered: every practice session is listed as available without a subscription, and selected race weekends may receive free access in the Apple TV app.
- Subscribe to Apple TV: the most complete U.S. package for every live F1 session, replays, highlights, extra feeds, Multiview, and the related Apple TV programming.
- Use companion services without the video subscription: Apple Music’s announced live audio, Apple Sports’ live timing, Apple News coverage, Maps features, and Podcasts can each be useful independently, but they do not all provide the live video race.
Why this matters for F1 fans
Apple’s strategy is to make F1 available in several modes instead of asking every fan to consume it in exactly the same way. The serious viewer gets telemetry, onboard cameras, team radio, podium feeds, and four-way Multiview. The casual viewer gets explainers, highlights, and Race in 30. The commuter gets live audio. The person following a race from work gets timing and Lock Screen updates. The traveling fan gets circuit maps and local discovery.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

That breadth is the real showcase. Apple TV supplies the exclusive U.S. live video relationship, but the commercial and editorial bet is much larger: F1 becomes a connected experience spread across the apps many Apple users already use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch any F1 coverage on Apple TV for free?
Yes, but only in limited ways. Apple’s official viewing information says every practice session is available without a subscription, and selected race weekends may receive free access in the Apple TV app. The full package of live Practice, Qualifying, Sprint, and Grand Prix sessions, plus replays and premium feeds, is tied to the Apple TV subscription.
Does Apple Sports stream the full F1 race?
No. Apple Sports provides live leaderboards, timing, standings, session updates, schedules, and Live Activities. It can offer a quick route to watch on Apple TV, but it is not the complete live-race video service.
Is Netflix replacing Apple TV as the U.S. F1 broadcaster?
No. Netflix remains associated with Drive to Survive and is also listed for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix in the United States. Apple TV remains the season-wide exclusive U.S. live home for F1 coverage; Netflix is not the full-season live broadcaster.
Do I need an Apple TV 4K to watch F1?
No. Apple lists compatible smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, Android devices, Macs, and the web, as well as Apple devices. Apple TV 4K is the most direct dedicated big-screen option, especially if Multiview is important, but it is not required for every viewing setup.
Does Apple Music include Apple TV’s live F1 video?
Apple Music’s F1 programming is separate from the Apple TV video subscription. It includes announced free live race audio, playlists, DJ mixes, and related radio programming, but an Apple Music subscription does not automatically provide the Apple TV live video package.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Apple TV is the exclusive U.S. live home of the 2026 F1 season, but Apple’s broader strategy reaches well beyond streaming video. Sports handles timing, Music supplies free live audio and playlists, News and Podcasts provide editorial coverage, and Maps connects selected Grands Prix to their host cities. You do not need Apple hardware for every feature, though Apple TV 4K is the clearest big-screen choice for Multiview.
