The 2024 CMT Music Awards aired Sunday, April 7, 2024, on CBS from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The main ceremony was also streamed live through Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. The CMT red-carpet preshow began at 7:00 p.m. ET and streamed on CMT, including CMT’s official YouTube channel.
Because the 2024 ceremony has already taken place, these are the original broadcast and streaming details—not a current live-event schedule.
2024 CMT Music Awards: channel and time
| Coverage | Where to watch | Start time |
|---|---|---|
| Red-carpet preshow | CMT and CMT’s official YouTube channel | 7:00 p.m. ET |
| Main awards ceremony | CBS | 8:00 p.m. ET |
| Online stream of the main ceremony | Paramount+ with SHOWTIME | 8:00 p.m. ET |
The CBS broadcast ran for three hours, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET. Viewers in the Pacific time zone received a delayed broadcast rather than the same simultaneous Eastern-time feed.
How to stream the main ceremony
Paramount+ with SHOWTIME
The official online route for the live awards ceremony was Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. The 2024 viewing announcement distinguished between the service’s plans: subscribers to Paramount+ with SHOWTIME could watch the program live and on demand, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers received on-demand access beginning the day after the broadcast.

- 720p resolution - View your favorite movies, shows and games in high definition.
- Alexa voice control - The Alexa Voice Remote lets you easily control your entertainment, search across apps, switch inputs, and more using just your voice. Press and hold the voice button and ask Alexa to easily find, launch, and control content, and even switch to cable.
- Access thousands of shows with Fire TV - Watch over 1.5 million streaming movies and TV episodes with access to thousands of channels, apps and Alexa skills, including Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, ESPN+, Sling TV, Paramount+, and other services right from this TV.*
- DTS Virtual-X Sound - An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.
- Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.
That distinction matters if you are looking for historical information about the 2024 event. It would be inaccurate to say that every Paramount+ tier carried the live broadcast. Current Paramount+ plan names, features, pricing, and catalog availability may differ from the arrangements announced for April 2024. Stream the CMT Music Awards on Paramount+ only if the service currently lists the program or an available replay in your region.
Live-TV streaming services with CBS
Viewers without a traditional cable subscription could also have used a live-TV streaming service carrying their local CBS affiliate. Contemporaneous viewing guides identified these possible alternatives:
- Hulu + Live TV
- YouTube TV
- Fubo
- DIRECTV STREAM
These services were distributor alternatives for the CBS broadcast, not separate official CMT streams. Local CBS availability varies by ZIP code, market, service, and package, so check the provider’s channel lookup before subscribing. A service that carries CBS in one city may not carry the local CBS station in another.

How to watch the CMT red carpet

The YouTube coverage was for arrivals and preshow coverage. It was not the complete awards ceremony. To watch the award presentations and performances, viewers needed the CBS broadcast or the applicable Paramount+ live-stream plan.

What happened at the 2024 ceremony?
The ceremony took place at Austin’s Moody Center and was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini. The program featured country-music video awards, television performances, and live musical appearances.
One of the event’s notable moments was a Toby Keith tribute involving Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson, and Sammy Hagar. Those details may help identify the correct replay or clips, but they do not change the original viewing schedule: the main show was on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET, following the 7:00 p.m. ET CMT red carpet.

No. A compatible smart TV, phone, tablet, computer, or game console may already provide access to the relevant app or website. If your television does not support Paramount+, a live-TV streaming app, or YouTube, an optional streaming media player can add app access. It is not required to watch the event on a computer or mobile device, and buying hardware cannot restore a live broadcast that has already ended.
