Which new Christmas movies are coming to Netflix in 2026?
Five new Christmas movies to watch on Netflix this holiday season are currently listed: four global 2026 titles—A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, The Gospel of Christmas, GUARDING STARS, and In a Holidaze—plus Paskong Pinoy, which Netflix lists for December 3, 2026, in the Philippines. The first four do not yet have exact release dates.
This is a current snapshot researched on August 16, 2026, rather than a final holiday schedule. Netflix’s official global guide lists the first four films as arriving in 2026, while a separate Netflix Philippines slate appendix supplies the date for Paskong Pinoy. The regional listing does not confirm U.S. availability. See Netflix’s 2026 movie guide and the Netflix Philippines 2026 slate appendix for the underlying listings.

1. A Dog’s Perfect Christmas
A Dog’s Perfect Christmas is the clearest family-viewing choice among Netflix’s announced 2026 holiday films. Netflix describes a family in crisis whose teenager, grandfather, and trusty basset hound struggle to keep the household together during Christmas.
The film is directed by Cathryn Michon. Netflix’s listed cast includes Dennis Quaid, Milo Ventimiglia, Brooke Lena Johnson, Jennifer Tilly, Ethan Loomis, Kathleen Rose Perkins, and Mary Steenburgen. The dog-and-family premise makes this the most obviously animal-centered and intergenerational selection in the group.
That recommendation is based on the official premise, not on a completed screening, review, or critic response. Netflix currently gives the film a general 2026 window rather than an exact release date. The official Netflix listing is the best source to recheck for a trailer, runtime, rating, and date.
2. The Gospel of Christmas
The Gospel of Christmas is the strongest match for viewers looking for a faith-centered Christmas drama with a gospel-music cast. The story follows a struggling pastor who inherits his family’s church in a broken New York neighborhood and confronts doubt, temptation, and a sinister adversary.

- Jack Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn't quite understand the concept.
Netflix has not yet supplied an exact release date, rating, runtime, or critical response for the film in the cited 2026 guide. The film belongs on this list because its premise and cast clearly distinguish it from the season’s family drama and romantic-comedy options, not because its quality has been established before release.
3. GUARDING STARS
GUARDING STARS is the conventional holiday rom-com pick: a no-nonsense bodyguard is assigned to protect a charming action star over the Christmas season. The official synopsis points to sparks, secrets, and seasonal complications, giving the film a familiar romantic-comedy setup with a celebrity-protection angle.
Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum directs. Netflix lists Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, Toby Sandeman, Rachael Ancheril, Phil Brooks, and Ava Max in the cast.

The bodyguard-and-action-star pairing is the reason to choose this title if you want a recognizable holiday romance rather than a family, religious, or time-loop story. Netflix currently lists GUARDING STARS for 2026 without publishing a specific day or month. No verified reviews or viewing-based quality judgment is available yet.
4. In a Holidaze
In a Holidaze is the most overtly high-concept romance in Netflix’s current global holiday lineup. A directionless twentysomething makes a major romantic mistake, becomes trapped in a holiday time loop, and must relive Christmas at her family’s cabin until she discovers what truly makes her happy.

- Elf [United States] [Blu-ray]
- Product type: PHYSICAL_MOVIE
- Brand: Glattol
Tiffany Paulsen directs the film. The listed cast includes Maddie Ziegler, Rob Lowe, Graham Phillips, and Elias Kacavas. The repeated-Christmas premise makes this the natural choice for viewers who prefer alternate-timeline, fantasy, or time-loop stories over a straightforward holiday romance.
The Netflix guide lists the film as arriving in 2026 but does not give an exact release date. The time-loop description supports a premise-based recommendation only; it does not establish the film’s eventual reviews, audience response, or quality.

Paskong Pinoy is the international option: Netflix Philippines lists the title as a holiday anthology premiering on December 3, 2026, in the Philippines. The anthology brings together stories involving estranged friends, a snowy Christmas, office rivals, and clashing sisters.
The listed cast includes Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, Rica Peralejo, Michael Flores, Bernadette Allyson, Ciara Sotto, Polo Ravales, Barbie Forteza, and Enchong Dee. Its multi-story structure and Filipino seasonal setting offer a different perspective from the four films listed in Netflix’s global movie guide.
The geography matters. The cited document is a Philippines-specific Netflix slate appendix, so it verifies the title and December 3 date for that market but does not establish that Paskong Pinoy will be available on Netflix in the United States. Readers outside the Philippines should check their local Netflix listings before treating the film as part of their own 2026 lineup. The regional Netflix slate is the source for the date and market qualification.

How should you choose among the five films?
The best choice depends on tone, audience, premise, and where Netflix has confirmed access—not on an objective ranking of unreleased films.
| If you want… | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A family Christmas drama with an animal at its center | A Dog’s Perfect Christmas | The story focuses on a teenager, grandfather, basset hound, and family crisis. |
| A faith-based story with gospel performers | The Gospel of Christmas | The plot centers on a pastor, church, faith, prayer, and community. |
| A familiar holiday romantic-comedy setup | GUARDING STARS | The central pairing is a bodyguard and an action star during the holidays. |
| A time-loop or high-concept Christmas romance | In a Holidaze | The protagonist repeatedly relives Christmas at her family’s cabin. |
| An international anthology with Filipino storytelling | Paskong Pinoy | The Philippines-specific slate describes multiple intersecting holiday situations and stories. |
When will these Netflix Christmas movies be released?
Paskong Pinoy has the only specific date in the supplied official research: December 3, 2026, for Netflix Philippines. Netflix’s global guide currently lists A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, The Gospel of Christmas, GUARDING STARS, and In a Holidaze simply as 2026 releases.
Do not assign November or December dates to the four global titles until Netflix publishes them. The January 7, 2026 Netflix slate announcement also says the broad 2026 slate is not comprehensive and indicates that more title announcements may come later. Release dates, trailers, runtimes, ratings, and country availability can change as the holiday season approaches.
Are all five movies confirmed for Netflix in the United States?
No. Netflix’s global 2026 guide identifies four titles, but Paskong Pinoy is supported here only by a Philippines-specific slate document. The available evidence does not confirm a U.S. Netflix release for Paskong Pinoy, and a global slate listing should not be treated as proof of simultaneous availability in every country.
For current catalog checks, use Netflix’s official holiday-movies category once each film reaches its release window. Regional catalogs can differ, so readers should verify the listing from the country in which they plan to watch.

What is still unknown about the 2026 lineup?
The supplied Netflix listings do not provide verified budgets, viewership forecasts, runtimes, audience ratings, critic scores, or independent reviews for these unreleased films. The listings also do not establish catalog permanence, subscription pricing, or simultaneous worldwide availability.
Netflix may add more holiday films or publish exact dates after this article’s August 16, 2026 research date. Recheck Netflix Tudum and the relevant regional Netflix pages before the 2026 holiday season, especially if a specific release date or country catalog is important to your plans. Netflix’s corporate announcement describes the slate as spanning “hidden gems, surprising characters and new worlds,” but that promotional wording is not a quality prediction for any individual film.
