The 29 new Netflix movies in 2025 produced seven especially worthwhile picks: KPop Demon Hunters for the best all-around entertainment, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl for families, Steve for drama, A House of Dynamite for suspense, Frankenstein for gothic spectacle, The Wrong Paris for romance, and Havoc for action.
The count and recommendations come from a Tom’s Guide roundup updated November 11, 2025. The list is an unranked, English-language-focused snapshot rather than a complete worldwide account of every Netflix movie released during 2025.
Key takeaways
- Tom’s Guide counted 29 new Netflix movies in 2025 within a dated, English-language-focused roundup updated November 11, 2025; the list was not a complete worldwide release count.
- KPop Demon Hunters is the clearest breakout, with Netflix reporting more than 236 million views by August 26, 2025, and 482 million views during the second half of 2025.
- Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is the safest family-night recommendation, while Steve is the strongest choice for a serious, character-driven drama.
- A House of Dynamite delivers political and nuclear-threat tension, and Frankenstein offers the most visually ambitious gothic experience.
- The Wrong Paris and Havoc are conditional recommendations: the first is a predictable comfort-watch rom-com, while the second prioritizes action over story.
Which 2025 Netflix movies are actually worth watching?
The best picks from the 29 new Netflix movies in 2025 are KPop Demon Hunters for energetic all-ages entertainment, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl for family viewing, Steve for drama, A House of Dynamite for political suspense, Frankenstein for gothic spectacle, The Wrong Paris for light romance, and Havoc for action.
That answer comes from a Tom’s Guide roundup updated November 11, 2025. The seven films were presented in release-date order, not as a strict ranking, so “worth watching” depends on the mood, age group, and level of tolerance for flaws you bring to the choice.

What does the “29 new Netflix movies” count include?
The figure of 29 is a dated editorial count from Tom’s Guide, not a definitive total of every movie Netflix released worldwide during 2025. The roundup deliberately left out international movies to keep the selection manageable. Tom’s Guide said that including non-English-language films would create more than 100 options.
That distinction matters if you are searching for the best new Netflix movies from 2025 rather than treating this list as a complete catalog. The same source separately suggested Bullet Train Explosion, Mantis, and Caramelo for viewers who wanted international recommendations. Netflix availability also varies by country and can change, so check the title in your local Netflix catalog before planning a viewing.
Which of the seven Netflix movies should you watch?
| Movie | Best for | Genre or mood | Why watch | Main caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steve | Serious-drama viewers | Contained school drama | Intense performances and a strong student-centered emotional story | Behavioral conflict, alcoholism, and a pressured single-day structure |
| Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl | Families and stop-motion fans | Cozy animated adventure | Broad age appeal, inventive comedy, and a familiar duo | Availability and regional catalog limits should be checked |
| KPop Demon Hunters | Animation, music, and fantasy-action fans | Upbeat musical fantasy | Bright animation, catchy music, accessible demon-fighting premise | Highly stylized K-pop presentation will not suit every viewer |
| A House of Dynamite | Political-thriller audiences | Bleak institutional suspense | High-stakes decisions around an unexplained missile launch | Its nuclear-threat subject matter is tense and politically heavy |
| Frankenstein | Guillermo del Toro and gothic-horror fans | Gothic creature drama | Production design, visual style, score, and Jacob Elordi’s performance | 150-minute runtime and changes to Mary Shelley’s story |
| The Wrong Paris | Rom-com viewers | Light, predictable romance | Easy viewing with a deliberately silly dating-show premise | A qualified recommendation rather than a standout romance |
| Havoc | Action-first viewers | Violent crime thriller | Kinetic set pieces, shootouts, and Tom Hardy in a bruised-detective role | Thin plot, uneven effects, and a 35% audience score cited by Tom’s Guide |
Why is KPop Demon Hunters the best all-around pick?
KPop Demon Hunters is the strongest default recommendation because it combines bright animation, music, fantasy action, and a premise that is easy to understand: K-pop stars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey perform for fans by day and fight demons by night. The combination gives the movie crossover appeal beyond viewers who already follow K-pop.
Netflix reported that KPop Demon Hunters had become its most popular film with more than 236 million views by August 26, 2025, according to Netflix Tudum’s milestone report. Netflix’s later engagement report recorded 482 million views for the film during July–December 2025; those figures come from different reporting points and should not be treated as the same measurement.
As an independent reception snapshot, Rotten Tomatoes listed KPop Demon Hunters at 91% from critics and 99% from audiences when checked in 2026. Rotten Tomatoes scores can change as additional reviews and audience ratings are added, so the current title page is the appropriate place to verify them.
Which Netflix movie is best for a family movie night?
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is the best family choice in this group. Netflix’s premise has Wallace inventing a smart garden gnome to help Gromit maintain the garden, only for the invention to develop a mind of its own while an old adversary plots to steal a jewel.

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham direct the stop-motion film. Netflix’s official coverage notes more than three decades of Wallace & Gromit history and records major awards recognition, including Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Academy Award nominations. Netflix also published director Nick Park’s comment: “Returning to Wallace and Gromit is like meeting up with family friends,” Park told Netflix.
The film has the broadest age appeal of the seven recommendations, particularly for households that want gentle adventure, visual comedy, and handmade animation rather than violence or political anxiety. Netflix’s title coverage specified streaming availability in the United States while excluding the United Kingdom at the time of publication, so regional availability needs confirmation through the official Netflix coverage.

Is Steve worth watching if you want a serious drama?
Steve is the strongest dramatic recommendation for viewers who prefer intense dialogue and behavioral conflict to spectacle. Tim Mielant directs this adaptation of Max Porter’s novel Shy, with Cillian Murphy playing Steve, the head teacher of a reform school for boys with serious behavioral challenges.
The story unfolds over a single day. A visiting television crew, disputes among students, Steve’s alcoholism, and the troubled student Shy—played by Jay Lycurgo—create a tightly compressed pressure cooker. Shy becomes the emotional center of the film, making the student storyline more important than the institutional setting alone.
Steve is a good fit if you want a contained school drama led by a major performance. The same intensity is the warning: viewers looking for a relaxed Netflix movie night may find the behavioral confrontations and single-day structure exhausting.
What is A House of Dynamite about?
A House of Dynamite is a political thriller about a single, unattributed missile launched at the United States and the race to establish who is responsible and how the country should respond. Kathryn Bigelow directs a cast including Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke.

The film’s appeal comes from government procedure and decision-making under extreme pressure rather than from a conventional detective mystery. The nuclear-threat premise is designed to feel plausible and immediate, making this the most anxiety-inducing film on the list.
Choose A House of Dynamite when you want institutional suspense, political consequences, and a bleak atmosphere. Skip it for a light evening or if nuclear-threat stories are likely to feel too close to real-world fears. Netflix’s official 2025 movie guide provides the official synopsis and cast information.
Why choose Frankenstein?
Frankenstein is the pick for viewers who want gothic atmosphere and visual ambition. Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic story, with Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the creature. Netflix describes the central conflict as the work of a brilliant, egotistical scientist whose experiment brings a creature to life and ultimately destroys both creator and creation.
The film’s strongest reasons to watch are its production design, visual style, score, and Elordi’s performance. The adaptation also changes elements of Shelley’s original story, which may divide readers who want a close literary translation. At 150 minutes, the runtime is another meaningful commitment.

For viewers who want a brisk horror movie or a faithful page-to-screen adaptation, the length and alterations are important cautions.
Is The Wrong Paris worth watching?
The Wrong Paris is worth watching when you specifically want a light, predictable rom-com—not when you are searching for the strongest film on the list. Miranda Cosgrove plays Dawn, a young woman hoping to attend art school in Paris who joins a glossy dating show to pay her tuition.

Dawn expects Paris, France, but discovers that the production is actually in Paris, Texas. She initially plans to get eliminated, then develops feelings for the show’s lead, Trey, played by Pierson Fodé. The mistaken-location premise supplies the movie’s easy comic hook.
Tom’s Guide described the film as predictable and as the best option within a weak 2025 Netflix rom-com group. That is a mood-based endorsement: choose it for uncomplicated comfort viewing and avoid it if you need surprising plotting or a more ambitious romance.

Is Havoc a good Netflix action movie?
Havoc is a conditional yes for action-first viewers. Gareth Evans directs this crime-action thriller, in which a bruised detective fights through the criminal underworld after a drug heist goes wrong while trying to rescue a politician’s estranged son. Tom Hardy, Forest Whitaker, Jessie Mei Li, and Timothy Olyphant lead the cast.
The case for watching Havoc is kinetic spectacle: shootouts, physical confrontations, and action set pieces take priority. The case against watching Havoc is the thin plot and uneven effects. Tom’s Guide cited a 35% Rotten Tomatoes audience score while making the deliberately controversial argument that action fans may still find enough to enjoy.
Do not treat Havoc as a universally acclaimed recommendation. Treat Havoc as the right choice for viewers willing to overlook story weaknesses in exchange for violent, fast-moving action.

How can you watch these Netflix movies on a television?
Netflix-compatible smart TVs, game consoles, streaming boxes, and streaming sticks can play Netflix without any special accessory if the television already supports the service. If your TV needs an external streaming device, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is an optional route to access Netflix on a compatible television; it is not required for Netflix and does not improve the films themselves.
